The MAC has already aligned geographically. Same with the MWC. I don't think there are any other G5 teams in either of their footprints. It's just the AAC, CUSA, and SBC that are having trouble with the concept.

Hard to say what would have happened. Marshall would have been undefeated and if I recall I think Boise had 2 losses at the time. It would not have been hard to envision Marshall getting the access slot with a win in the championship game. I am of the opinion that they would have gotten in, but they lost before they got the chance. It would have been sweet satisfaction to earn the top slot right out of the gate. It would have flown in the face of those that assumed the MWC and AAC would dominate. However, as I mentioned previously, Marshall failed to deliver when they had the opportunity. Much like UNT did late that year against UT-SA.

ODU's budget is higher, they also sponsor several additional sports than we do. Does anyone recall how much our budget was expected to increase in order to cover baseball? The biggest thing for us in the short term is likely to just figure out a way to keep our budget at the current level with the expected shortfalls in TV money and increase in COA. By the way, did we ever see any official numbers on our COA? It seems a lot of the schools have been pretty mum on this topic after the initial fanfare.

Probably. It is definitely the way many of them, that got got caught, seemed to operate, but as was pointed out most organizations operate this way. Guess I am just tired of seeing yet another organization prove that they are no better than those they frequently snub their noses at.

This is where we have to take advantage of our size and annual revenues. Mid we could somehow push our budget into the $40M+ range where we are on par with MWC and AAC schools we will really start putting distance between ourselves and the rest of the conference.
