The reality is that the Dodge hire was less of an AD failure and more of a HC failure. Looking back, it would have been better to require the HC to bring in a college defense, but how often do you see an AD dictating the coaches a new HC can hire? Just really bad luck that Dodge was lost at the college level. With our budget constraints it looked like at innovative hire at the time, but quickly deteriorated. As I recall, Dodges salary was well under $300k.

Don't like to see that his offense struggled against the only two teams I recognize on that list. But at least one of the defenses was the one that we brought in 4 players from so maybe their is a silver lining.

Shabbour has shown enough in practice/scrimmages that he probably should have been playing in front of those 3 knuckleheads last year. If this new QB is able to beat him out I see that as a positive not a negative. We needed a major upgrade at QB. So far it seems like we have upgraded, but not clear how much. The coaches have now added new juco players to every position group. I think it is safe to say they felt like there were glaring problems at every position.

I think I saw where the 1st smoo commit changed his mind after smoo accepted the commitment from the 2nd QB. Could be wrong but I thought I saw that somewhere.

With RV, health issues are always a possibility. He was not what you would call in good health.

Maybe the current staff misunderstood what the prior staff did regarding schollies. Who knows. At the moment I sure am glad they found four more spots.

If TV makes the times change, then fine, that is outside our control. Otherwise, this is very nice and long overdue.

Not that all of these guys were recruited by Ekeler, but there is a chance that the defense has a lot of new faces in the lineup by the Fall compared to what we saw last year (for good reason). Especially in the front 6/7. 'Mostly 3 star' can be tough, especially at certain positions of need. Case in point, we have been recruiting a 3 star juco DE player for some time and now, just before the player is set to announce Cornhole and possibly are making a late run at him.

All this talk about streams is making me a little uncomfortable.

Congrats on the commitment Josh. Welcome! I am guessing this may have been the potential commit we heard about over the weekend. Great to see us winning a recruit over a conference mate as well as MWC and SBC teams. Hopefully the first of many!
