  1. El Paso is in danger of turning into Las Cruces, football wise....the end of the line.
  2. In 1968 we came close. Steve Ramsey had 2,516 yards passing, Leo Taylor had 1,017 yards rushing, and Barry Moore had 1,053 yards receiving. Of course that team had 12 eventual pro draftees, including 1st round picks, Joe Greene, and Cedric Hardman and 2nd round WR, Ron Shanklin as well as 5 others in the first 10 rounds.
  3. It was a worthy contest between two teams that had a lot of motivation to win.
  4. I watched a lot of football today, SEC, Big 12, ACC, Big 10 and I didn't see any QB who I would trade Fine for. He is clearly better than most starting at those schools.
  5. I am ok with Fine starting the 2nd half. He had a good first half. What I do not understand is why the put a hurt, tired Fine in for the final series of the second half, risking further injury to Fine and leading to the predictable interception (the guy was clearly tired), giving Shanbour more reps and a chance to further show what he can do. I understand having a starting QB, but I do not understand not preparing the backup in situations like that for taking over if the QB gets seriously injured.
  6. Absolutely, flooding near Orange, even on the Interstate.
  7. I would think that he would be used in certain situations where quickness can be a virtue, such as obvious passing downs.
  8. Looks like an excellent pick-up to me. Lost some interest due to an injury last year, was evaluated in camps by UNT staff and is active in 5 sports. To me that says the athleticism is there.
  9. OK to ask. He is listed among the top 30 senior QB's in the state, by Dave Campbell.
  10. As I said, the only test of the recruiting will be the results on the field.
  11. I liked Rust. He was an excellent coach. His major problem is that he had no real Texas ties and this handicap finally showed up in his recruiting.
  12. The recruiting treads are getting boring as can be. We know everyone's perspective by now (so no sense in repeating the same stuff over and over again). As for "not getting any better results in recruiting"....we just do not know that yet. The only results that count come when they are on the field. If that weren't the case, then Boise State, who for years recruited virtual unknowns, who have never risen to the level they are now....and TCU never would have made the first step to the level they are at. It was only after some success with lower rated classes did they begin to bring in higher rated recruits than some of their rivals.
  13. Don't you realize that the sky is falling according to some of our fans.
  14. I prefer to see how a couple of recruiting classes fare before making judgement.
  15. Wonder what the full story is. Here is how Texas Football described him as a high school back; "RB Easley (106-1,095 rushing. 15 T.D.'s) is a physical downhill runner who possesses a great combination of size and speed".
  16. Fair enough write-up, but apparently he has forgotten about Isadore at QB.

  18. Field position and yardage needed for a first down have to enter into the calculation. Surely, with 4 and 30 on your own 15 yard line would be reason to punt no matter what your theory is.
