  1. In any case, this is an intelligent gamble. Prior to his injury, Isadore was getting serious attention from some major programs. IF he can recover, he will bring a lot of talent to the QB position.
  2. Richard Gill was a great linebacker and a good representative of our university. His death was a definite shock and loss.
  3. What I wonder is why they do not use a misdirection play with Fine? Every time he hands the ball off with the running back and blockers running in one direction, there is nobody from the opposing team on the other end of the play. With his quickness, he could waltz 20 yards by keeping the ball and running a naked reverse in the other direction. At the Rice game, there were times when there would have been 40 open yards on the other side of the field because they were keying so much on Wilson.
  4. Actually, Rod Rust was a great coach as his subsequent career coaching in the NFL showed. But, he was a lousy recruiter with no Texas ties and the lack of talent eventually sank him. In fact, he started off 2-1, but took that team to a 7-1-1 record and won the Missouri Valley Championship. The following 2 years, North Texas went 15 and 5. Then....as his poor recruiting accumulated....his teams sank to the bottom. He could coach. He just couldn't get any real talent in.
  5. Good seeing you there Ed. I am exhausted as well. Don't think I sat down for more than a few minutes the entire second half. One of my best 10 all time games for sure.
  6. Yes. Time to break that streak and start a new era in Mean Green football.
  7. He's a cry baby because his QB got injured. It happens in football. He would have a case if it were clearly intentional, but replays show it clearly wasn't.
  8. I agree. I think they realized their mistake just like UT realized its mistake when it spurned Manziel. Even the major programs make recruiting mistakes. Was Jerrod Heard any better than most QB's coming out of high school at that time? Obviously, time has shown otherwise.
  9. Yes. He keeps saying: "This time....no mister nice guy!"
  10. Up to a point. North Texas has always had the bad habit of seeing attendance trail off as the season progresses. That tendency cost us a Liberty Bowl bid in 1978 when we couldn't even fill up Fouts Field against Memphis State (who we beat 41-24) in the final game of the season with a 9-2 team and bowl representatives at the game. It also cemented Hayden Fry's belief that it was time for him to move on. That is one thing that we as fans need to address if we are ever to be taken seriously win...or lose.
  11. North Texas wasn't built on top an an old Native American burial site was it? That might explain our hex.
  12. Thanks. Great message. I hope to be their with friends on the 3rd to the see the beginning of a new era in Mean Green football.
  13. It is the kid's third commitment. I'll believe it when I see an actual signing.
  14. Darn....sure wish Johnson would qualify.....35th ranked JC in country, regardless of position.

  16. It has been standard practice with late signees not to add them to they are actually enrolled in camp. Some have a few hoops to jump through before they can be officially admitted.
  17. After looking at his HUDL highlights, certainly a lot to like about this commitment.
  18. Personally I agree with that approach for the time being. Boise took off originally, not by playing top programs, but by playing cream-puffs and WINNING. Then they started adding good programs to the schedule as the winning tradition grew and recruiting improved. Obviously, we need to rebuild this baby from scratch. Lets have a few winning seasons and then see where that leads.
  19. I will enjoy watching this team, if they play to their ability and mesh. I won't if that doesn't happen. In any case, I will keep an open mind about their potential until proven otherwise this season.
  20. The situation with Carlin was somewhat similar to what we are facing now. Carlin gave some "zip" to a program that gone 2-7-1 the prior year and 3-6 the year before. The first year, the team still struggled with a 3-7 record, but went 8-2 and won the Missouri Valley Championship his senior year. Then he graduated with Steve Ramsey in the wings....and a 22-5-1 record for the three years of the Ramsey era. Let's hope that history repeats itself!
  21. The last QB that I remember doing much at North Texas was Vidal Carlin in the mid-60's..
