He is too small weight wise to play interior currently, and not twitchy/explosive enough to be an edge rusher. He'd need to put on 30/40 pounds minimum to play interior and sometimes thats a scary projection when you won't know if they will maintain the things that caused you to offer them. I'd offer him a PWO and see if he can put the weight on he needs to be good.

He will be here in January. Once a player puts their name in the portal they have until the end of that semester to find a home or they are without scholarship or a place to play. That is unless of course their previous institution will welcome them back which is a risky gamble. I believe the Portal closes December 20th maybe 23rd then they have until classes begin in January to enroll at new institution

My biggest complaint currently (I'm leaving run game out of it because no excuse just fact, he's running this system with guys who were recruited to play 4 down and slant and move) It seems like we have LB's lost in coverage as in they have no idea where to go or what they're looking at. Running the 3-3-5 should allow for dang near double teams on every wide receiver unless they go 5 wide, yet we constantly have guys catching a ball with no one near them. I LOVE that they are getting the young guys in and getting tape to see where we stand in the future as well as now. That young DB class is going to be fun watching IMO. Inside LB's seem to be fitting the run better and seeing the windows and closing them. I am cautiously optimistic. As bad as we were early on, we were within a score late against the top 3 teams in conference. Fix a few things here and there that get cleaned up and we would be having an entirely different conversation. I also put blame towards offense for laying eggs for entire halfs (makes playing defense pretty tough when offense is on the field for 40 seconds and right back off).

Well, anyone change after the performance yesterday? Defense kept us in the game until Offense woke up. I know I know, against a bad team but we finally slowed the run a little. My question from last game is how do we keep leaving our smallest corner in 1 on 1 situations with the other teams tallest WR we have 3 safeties surely to the big man upstairs we can find a way to borrow a safety and give him some help.

This has been a BS excuse by previous staff. Every school gets out and recruits even when bowling, between UNT, SMU, TCU it should never matter when bowling as you have to drive 15-40 minutes and you can be at whatever destination you want in DFW unless there is traffic.

QB 1 Rogers, QB 2 Rudder/Earle I think Rogers gets the Nod for now because of his feet when things break down he can make plays with his feet that the other two I don't think can. Offensive identity go faster, nope not fast enough even faster, get lined up and run the play called. We are primarily 10 personnel with some 11 mixed in. I don't think they've added any QB Run game stuff yet because the QB's are whistled dead right now so why waste a snap when it will be quick whistle. Receiving corps is DEEP. Shorter appears to be done until the fall to recover from whatever injury he sustained. The new WR from Tech is the real deal, Dee Brown is healthy and making some guys look silly, and Maclin is also the real deal. Been impressed with the OL play. The defense brings crazy exotic looks and blitzes and for the most part in the 2 scrimmages the OL has held up really well IMO. They've busted but not as much as you'd expect with as much pressures and stunts as they've seen. Qualon Farrar is the real deal he scored a few times today and he can FLY!! Another SOC signee going to do big things for us. Defensive standouts to me has been a team effort, impressed with all 11 guys that step on the field each time. They FLY to the football, are asked do a little bit of everything and they communicate better than any defense I've seen at UNT since the Zach Orr Marcus Trice team. They are very stingy with yardage today was the first time any long runs were broken on them in the 2 scrimmages and 1 got called back for a holding penalty that I didn't see but if the ref called it, it happened. Probably most impressed with the DL play so far, followed by the safeties flying down hill and making tackles. Kicking game I will hold judgment on. Punter looks like he can absolutely hammer the ball and not only flip the field but put the other teams offense in a bad spot to start the drive.

The owner let me sample a few on my way out of the scrimmage today. Asked if I'd be interested in some "Quality control" I laughed and said absolutely. They'd only been soaking for 15 minutes but those jokers were perfect! Good kick but not too much. Company is based in Denton off 377. Apparently they changed from student ID… to something else today… why??? Why??? I had time to drop wife and kids off for wife to buy tickets, drive to bottom of old fouts lot to park, walk up and she was still in line bc of a ticket issue.. smh can’t win for losing around here. So frustrating

Really disappointed in ticket office… students lining the gates, and can’t get in bc of some kind of ticket issue.
