  1. Rubin tried a comeback once and it didn't last long. Sometimes these type injuries continue to flair up for a while. They are trying to let it fully heal as long as possible, but need him back asap. I wouldn't count on him as a savior until after we see that the injury is truly over. Ross doesn't roll with a 10-man rotation unless forced to by injury during a game. But a Tourney is ironman basketball. If we are forced to play 4 games again in 4 days we will be in trouble.
  2. "The number likely will land somewhere near the middle of that $150 million floor and that $572 ceiling. Then Florida State will pay. And while neither the Big Ten nor the SEC have expressed any public interest in the Seminoles, it seems highly likely one or both leagues would then try to scoop up Florida State as well as the other desirable properties that choose to buy their way out once Florida State breaks the seal. Given the seeming inevitability of a negotiation, it almost doesn’t matter if the Big Ten or SEC are interested now. If several potentially additive programs buy their way into free agency at once, the competitiveness of the true Power 2 could take over. The Big Ten would see an opportunity to plant its flag in the South. The SEC might feel a need to defend its borders or expand its footprint."
  3. Agree with this, but we also didn't develop the rest of the bench to help. We can't be a 6 player team going into the Tourney and expect to win much.
  4. It all has to do with the stupid label = P5. Some schools ($mut) would sell their souls just to get the P5 patch on their uniforms. It's a fake promotion in that case.
  5. The PAC 2 wants to keep their Conference Brand alive, but they want to cherry pick the MWC. The MWC wants to join the PAC but they currently are holding the line at All or None. They have 2 years to get it settled but look for the PAC to remain in the future in some form.
  6. The point was that if these "Football Super Conferences" are carrying dead weight like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Indiana, etc...they really aren't "Super" conferences like they would be with better Brand replacements. Better programs on the fringe (Notre Dame, Clemson, Florida State, etc.) will still need a way to play in the Top tier without being in the SEC or Big10.
  7. It's the Portal and NIL era now, no commitment from anybody.
  8. So, will there come a time when the SEC and Big10 go to a demotion and promotion system, like European soccer? Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, etc cannot compete on the football field with the top dogs as it is now. And, the former top dogs in their previous conferences like USC, OU, UCLA et al may suddenly finish 7th or 8th, causing panic in their fanbases. Fire the coach, spend more on the Portal, etc. Someone has to lose every year in these Super Conferences.
  9. What's to keep the MWC from just merging into the PAC to keep that Brand and P5 status? No different than $mut buying their way into a P5 conference rather than earning it.
  10. Pac-12, commissioner George Kliavkoff agree to part ways https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39540583/pac-12-commissioner-george-kliavkoff-agree-part-ways
  11. Lots of whining from them about poor officiating or poor coaching. One did like the ESPN+ commentators... RE: ***The Official Memphis vs North Texas Basketball Thread*** Best commentating we’ve had on ESPN+
  12. Willie Nelson did and Bob Hope (with Hayden Fry).
  13. He didn't seem to have many answers for why his players did things. He owned not coaching them in moments but also implied out of touch with them as far as strategy. Overlooking us is still my answer before this game was even played! We will eventually become a "known" team if we keep playing this well.
  14. Memphis leads the series 17-7... https://gotigersgo.com/sports/mbball/opponent-history/north-texas/147
  15. This is a really great win against a quality opponent considering we are short-handed with injuries. This (-10) is the second worst lose for Memphis all season. Villanova beat them by 16. They are 4-0 over ranked teams, and have wins this season over Missouri, Michigan, Arkansas, Texas A$M, Clemson, Virginia, and Vanderbilt. Memphis has a tough conference schedule remaining: $mut, Charlotte, UAB, and FAU (twice).
  16. Line: UNT -1.5 Over/Under: 134.5 Attendance: 5,689
  17. Memphis fans not taking the loss well (as expected). Most want the coach gone for their team's performance, not really much about us. 18 pages as of now on their fan forum... https://csnbbs.com/thread-986584.html
  18. They have huge egos and past conference history with $mut. It was only a 3-point win in Memphis a month ago. We are the new annoying kid on the block to them and have not played them yet. It will help us that they are distracted.
  19. This is a trap game for Memphis. They will be looking past us and ahead to playing at $mut on Sunday on ESPN.
  20. Bill Blakeley came to NT after coaching the ABA Dallas Chaparrals. Similar to the NBA today, all offense, no defense was played.
  21. Fabulous memories at the Fabulous Super Pit...DePaul, Texas, Texas Tech, LSU, CBI final, my small son rolling down the hill outside the Pit 35 years ago, hope to bring my grandson to do the same. I wish they had more former player interviews in the video from earlier eras. Will never forget Bill Blakeley on the sideline, Ken Lyons jumpers, Tony Mitchell crashing the boards, etc...
  22. The players have voted for Black seatbacks with Green-trim cupholders...
  23. "This change....will reduce capacity of these sections." If you take the tour of Boston's Fenway Park you will learn that baseball stadium was built in 1912. The wooden grandstand seats, with metal armrests, are very narrow and were based on the average adult width back in 1912 (112 years ago for those counting along). New modern seats are wider, and accompanying code changes would result in the loss of 4000 seats.
  24. This basically eliminates the former PAC12 from consideration. Is this format good for the AAC? "The College Football Playoff board of managers is expected to vote Feb. 20 on a model that would include the five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams in the 12-team playoff this fall -- a format change that could finally get the unanimous backing it needs if the Pac-12 agrees to it." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39520319/college-football-playoff-board-managers-expected-vote-5-plus-7-format
