  1. At any one time, just over 16,000 college football players are draft eligible. And then only around 259 players will be drafted. That is 0.016% of the draft-eligible NCAA pool. Of those players, about 60% will make it onto an NFL roster at some point in their careers. However, only about 35% of drafted players will make it onto a roster in their rookie season. Those few that make an NFL roster will have an average NFL career of only 3.3 years. In other words, if their career choice is only NFL career or Bust.... 😕
  2. That's correct, and I agree. I would say that it is diluted beyond P5 status anymore. Who decides why conferences or programs are P5 in the first place? It's an arbitrary term. The Big12 expanded to offer four G5 programs. But there are no benchmarks to meet other than an invite. And now schools like Smut are simply buying their way in, which taints the quality even more.
  3. PAC brand > MWC brand. MWC schools see an easy road to a P5 conference with a merger. However, PAC2 currently wants only the best names in the MWC, not all. MWC leadership is trying to push an all or none merger. Eventually the better programs like Boise, SDSU, etc will split away to the PAC anyway, if there is a reasonable media package being proposed.
  4. Exactly. He didn't go to Clemson when his dad was there.
  5. No, it's an all-inclusive exit fee. They could just leave now without media rights, but the lawsuit is about all of it. Sorry, your best teams in your new conference will soon be leaving, lol! Welcome to the AAC 2.0
  6. CFP unanimously approves 5+7 model for new 12-team playoff "In most years, the 5+7 format will assure the conference champions from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC a spot in the playoff, along with the highest-ranked Group of 5 conference champion. The CFP intentionally won't refer to the Group of 5 in its description of the format, though, because there is a chance that a champion from one of the Power 4 conferences finishes ranked below the top champion from the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt or Mid-American Conference." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39563282/cfp-unanimously-approves-5+7-model-new-12-team-playoff
  7. Rank the Top 7 players on the team. Now see how often they played together in a single game. Was there even 1 game? Certainly wasn't the 12 or 13 games you mentioned for the records. The point being perhaps our best basketball is yet to come with a healthy roster for the Tournament?
  8. Rubin tried a comeback once and it didn't last long. Sometimes these type injuries continue to flair up for a while. They are trying to let it fully heal as long as possible, but need him back asap. I wouldn't count on him as a savior until after we see that the injury is truly over. Ross doesn't roll with a 10-man rotation unless forced to by injury during a game. But a Tourney is ironman basketball. If we are forced to play 4 games again in 4 days we will be in trouble.
  9. "The number likely will land somewhere near the middle of that $150 million floor and that $572 ceiling. Then Florida State will pay. And while neither the Big Ten nor the SEC have expressed any public interest in the Seminoles, it seems highly likely one or both leagues would then try to scoop up Florida State as well as the other desirable properties that choose to buy their way out once Florida State breaks the seal. Given the seeming inevitability of a negotiation, it almost doesn’t matter if the Big Ten or SEC are interested now. If several potentially additive programs buy their way into free agency at once, the competitiveness of the true Power 2 could take over. The Big Ten would see an opportunity to plant its flag in the South. The SEC might feel a need to defend its borders or expand its footprint."
  10. Agree with this, but we also didn't develop the rest of the bench to help. We can't be a 6 player team going into the Tourney and expect to win much.
  11. It all has to do with the stupid label = P5. Some schools ($mut) would sell their souls just to get the P5 patch on their uniforms. It's a fake promotion in that case.
  12. The PAC 2 wants to keep their Conference Brand alive, but they want to cherry pick the MWC. The MWC wants to join the PAC but they currently are holding the line at All or None. They have 2 years to get it settled but look for the PAC to remain in the future in some form.
  13. The point was that if these "Football Super Conferences" are carrying dead weight like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Indiana, etc...they really aren't "Super" conferences like they would be with better Brand replacements. Better programs on the fringe (Notre Dame, Clemson, Florida State, etc.) will still need a way to play in the Top tier without being in the SEC or Big10.
  14. It's the Portal and NIL era now, no commitment from anybody.
  15. So, will there come a time when the SEC and Big10 go to a demotion and promotion system, like European soccer? Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, etc cannot compete on the football field with the top dogs as it is now. And, the former top dogs in their previous conferences like USC, OU, UCLA et al may suddenly finish 7th or 8th, causing panic in their fanbases. Fire the coach, spend more on the Portal, etc. Someone has to lose every year in these Super Conferences.
  16. What's to keep the MWC from just merging into the PAC to keep that Brand and P5 status? No different than $mut buying their way into a P5 conference rather than earning it.
  17. Pac-12, commissioner George Kliavkoff agree to part ways https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39540583/pac-12-commissioner-george-kliavkoff-agree-part-ways
  18. Lots of whining from them about poor officiating or poor coaching. One did like the ESPN+ commentators... RE: ***The Official Memphis vs North Texas Basketball Thread*** Best commentating we’ve had on ESPN+
  19. Willie Nelson did and Bob Hope (with Hayden Fry).
  20. He didn't seem to have many answers for why his players did things. He owned not coaching them in moments but also implied out of touch with them as far as strategy. Overlooking us is still my answer before this game was even played! We will eventually become a "known" team if we keep playing this well.
  21. Memphis leads the series 17-7... https://gotigersgo.com/sports/mbball/opponent-history/north-texas/147
  22. This is a really great win against a quality opponent considering we are short-handed with injuries. This (-10) is the second worst lose for Memphis all season. Villanova beat them by 16. They are 4-0 over ranked teams, and have wins this season over Missouri, Michigan, Arkansas, Texas A$M, Clemson, Virginia, and Vanderbilt. Memphis has a tough conference schedule remaining: $mut, Charlotte, UAB, and FAU (twice).
