  1. No Way Jose! Just the opportunity for him to get out of Jersey is payment enough!
  2. Yes to all. Fans come to support our school against another school. If players want to be paid (beyond a scholarship) to represent the school, then it's simply time for contracts.
  3. Even the "Brand" programs are losing players to the portal. Maybe Ross can sign this guy for us? I heard he likes to play slow offense and lots of defense. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/40025291/seton-hall-star-kadary-richmond-enters-transfer-portal "Seton Hall star Kadary Richmond entered the transfer portal Thursday afternoon, potentially becoming the best player available in the portal."
  4. I guess if your want to live in NYC and can afford it. No thanks!
  5. The Big 12 is a superior basketball conference to the ACC. I know you're hurt they don't want you back, but them's the breaks!
  6. I know you're in denial that any ACC school wouldn't want to stay with Smu in the conference, but there are more $$ for them elsewhere. That's what it is all about today. You bought your way into the ACC. Schools will buy their way out of the ACC> From another article: ACC would lose schools to SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 If/when FSU leaves, the Seminoles and Clemson would likely be SEC-bound. UNC and UVA, which both have AAU accreditation, would join the Big Ten as basketball and academic fits. The Big 12 would likely try to poach Louisville, NC State, VA Tech, Pitt, and/or GA Tech.
  7. A majority of schools could just vote to dissolve the ACC. There would be a court fight, but eventually schools that want out will be released with some greatly reduced financial penalty. It's like a divorce, you can't keep someone in an unhappy relationship, even with a contract. It will happen probably before the end of next year at the pace things are moving.
  8. The ACC will be picked apart just like the PAC was. Big12 will help in the raiding, just as they did with the PAC.
  9. Excellent idea. I bet the sport head coach perhaps knows the answers, if the player feels like talking to them about it. I wish fans were given more info. Probably like HIPA rules...don't ask, don't tell.
  10. Jossell is only 5-11, but yes to more guard size overall. Now we need to add some 6-7 or 6-8 PF/wing types.
  11. This isn't the first time Ross had to remake a roster. Coming from JUCO he had to do it each year, plus after Grant left he reloaded with some new faces (who are now gone again). It's just the era we are in...until contracts are allowed that will limit movement.
  12. The 1AA playoffs only work because there are home games involved for higher seeds in each round. Using minor Bowls or neutral sites would add huge costs plus more travel and kill attendance.
  13. I like that model. Still offers the G5s the opportunity to move up. The problem, like now with portal and NIL, is the program that gets promoted still has roster-makeover each year. It will not be the same quality anymore as the previous great season.
  14. An Auburn article speculates a depleted ACC would simply backfill. But this is seriously a stupid alignment of coast to coast leftovers.... "There will be a big game of musical chairs played when the ACC crumbles, but unlike the Pac-12, there is a contingency plan to keep the ACC alive: Memphis, Tulane, Wazzu, Oregon State, UConn, and USF making the jump from the Group of Five ranks." https://flywareagle.com/posts/acc-ensure-survival-having-at-least-15-schools-fsu-clemson-leave
  15. 5-11, 175 lbs Scored 19 points in their conference tourney loss to UTA...7-11 FG, 3-5 3pt.... https://sfajacks.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2023-24/ut-arlington/boxscore/12408
  16. The proposal in the article is not 1-A and 1-AA again with separate playoffs. The proposed 8 regional G5 conferences and their champions would simply play a Tourney at the end of the regular season to determine the G5 representative into the larger, National CFP. I really don't know how they could do that many games. The G5 playoff would add 3 games beyond the regular 12 game season plus conference championship game = 16. Then the CFP could be another 3-4 games on top of all that =19-20 total games.
  17. "Clemson, another ACC school, has joined FSU in challenging the ACC's right to charge hundreds of millions of dollars to leave the conference."
  18. Denton is not a stand alone city, it's part of DFW. More people come to DFW than ABQ for tourism. But this is not about tourism and not about UNM. For Nolan it's only about the $. That's what it's about for all of them. Most came to UNT from another college, which tells me we can draw other players again after they leave. There's always more players wanting opportunity.
  19. The case hasn't been moved to North Carolina. It's only been sent to mediation.
  20. A Tallahassee judge has ordered Florida State and the Atlantic Coast Conference to enter mediation in hopes of settling a high-profile lawsuit that could dramatically impact the future of the league. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40000227/judge-orders-florida-state-acc-mediation-settle-suit
  21. Interesting. So, are there any P5 benefits left for the PAC-2 to dangle? And how does the PAC-2 request media rights bid proposals for an unconfirmed conference membership? Schools #1-10 = x value, schools 1-6, 8-10, + 12 = y value, and so on?
  22. Also, attendance at games is not required, in fact it's discouraged.
  23. You realize a funding increase for Athletics from the BOR will not include NIL funds? Those bribery funds have to come from donors or boosters outside the school. $mut has over 40 years experience (and a death penalty) with paying players. Our Athletic Department has always done little to inspire and cultivate our fan base and students. Much of our Athletic growth was spurred by our location and school size.
