I'm just happy all these players have the freedom to make their own decisions and if financial windfall is their motivation for the hard work and sacrifice they've put in for years, well, they've earned it.- 822 replies

I swear to god if I find a bear not sitting in it's assigned seat then I am never coming to a basketball game again. -

you ever see Booger hoop? could've been our starting PG on those early JJ teams. -
Have we confirmed how much the bribe payment will be for ASU to throw the game? Can it paid through NIL donations?

Towson (11/19/2023) - Charleston Classic
Censored by Laurie replied to BigWillie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
and 2 turnovers. you could tell he was playing a bit too quick...problem with just getting run in garbage time is you're pressing to impress. I think the rotation is pretty well set at 8 with Walker being the only possible wild-card. the next two games should provide Cotton and Moore some minutes, but I'm assuming they'll come similarly to the Towson game. I've been hard on him, but I think overall Stone had a solid tournament. he was doing more than just camping on the perimeter and his shot looks improved. -

I guess if you keep banking on a walk-on to be a key rotational piece, you can create whatever narrative you want to think you're clever. -

wow. I guess losing three-quarters of your scoring and the most successful coach in school history doesn’t make you better. -
St. Johns (11/16/23) - Charleston Classic

I’d love to see the play again…but the initial mistake was by Jones. If Buggs dives in (which we’ve already seen him do plenty) comes off second best and SJU gets a transition dunk it’s a bigger swing in the game. To harp on this play and Buggs feels like scape-goating- 198 replies

Also…no way is that on Buggs for not hitting the floor on Ruben’s loose handle. Buggs had already started back in defense when Jones hit the floor and then was stuck in no man’s land on the recovery…maybe he took the conservative option in getting back on defense first, but it’s definitely not down to a lack of hustle -

no one on our roster has been asked to close out a game and it shows. I thought it during the UNI game…the team didn’t get tired at the end of regulation, it got tight and sloppy in holding on to a lead. Tonight we got right and took a poor shot at 53-52. TP and Kai and Javion spoiled us with n clutch moments. The team will grow from this and get better…I love that we leaned on our defense late to fight back, but someone needs to show they’re nails late.- 198 replies

we'll play either Dayton or LSU on Friday...then ideally Houston for the championship on Saturday -
not only would I still (at 40) get buckets on @Andrew, but I'd be able to figure out the lot situation and out-park him and walk without complaint to the Pit for a game. like, I doubt he can even make a free throw and/or parallel park

two qualifiers: 1. Michigan looks pretty darn good. I might have a new favorite tiny guard...this McDaniel kid is a baller. 2. this is most of those St. John's players first time at MSG. that said...St. John's looks very beatable. Soriano is still gonna be a problem and they have proven scorers, but this team clearly does not have a point guard to organize and get the ball in the right places. they're gonna try to speed us up. I think Rubin is gonna need a steady game -
agreed. capitalism is dead. long live socialism!

not a ton to glean just from their 90-74 win over Stony Brook...based on that game this is what their primary rotation looked like, '22-23 stats below: 1. Daniss Jenkins - 6'4" 180, Sr. - 15.6ppg, 4.9apg, 36% 3-pt (at Iona) 2. Sean Conway - 6'4" 200, Sr. - 12.1ppg, 4.9rpg, 38% 3-pt (at VMI) 3. Nahiem Alleyne - 6'4" 200, Sr. - 5.2ppg, 8 starts, 39 games (at UCONN) 4. Chris Ledlum - 6'6" 225, Sr. - 18.8ppg, 8.5rpg, 1.8spg (at Harvard) 5. Joel Soriano - 6'11" 255, Sr. - 15.2ppg, 11.9rpg, 56% FG Bench - Jordan Dingle - 6'3" 195, Sr. - 23.4ppg, 3.6rpg, 36% 3-pt (at UPENN) - Glenn Taylor, Jr - 6'6" 205, Jr. - 11.6ppg, 3.6rpg (at Oregon State) a study in modern roster building with 6 transfers in the rotation - Soriano looks like a load...he had 22pts, 11rbs against Stony Brook and averaged a double-double in the Big East last year - Ledlum is built and plays like Anderson from UNI...led Harvard in scoring and rebounding last season. he had 16pts, 14rbs in their opener. - Jenkins played under Patino at Iona last season and seems to do a bit of everything...he had 17pts, 7rbs, 8ast in their opener - Dingle was the leading scorer in the Ivy League last year (Ledlum was second)...went 1-5 from deep, but still put up 13 against Stony Brook. you wonder about chemistry and cohesion with so many new faces, but considering these are all very experienced transfers from top/disciplined systems being coached by a hall-of-famer, you gotta assume the learning curve will be shorter. I should be able to catch at least some of their game with Michigan tonight. -

I don't mean to just pick on you specifically, but I swear this is already the 4th or 5th time it's happened here this season...his name is Terrance Dixon. it seems like such a small ask to get our players' names right. to the point, I think we determined that Dixon is a walk-on...he's got some solid measurables (6'8", 235lb)...would be a bonus if he contributes, but probably shouldn't be an expectation. Cotton and Moore are the two I'm eager to see more. not holding out much hope for Morgan, though I would be thrilled to be wrong

everyone on this team provides good energy and dives for loose balls. not only has Stone yet to show he can contribute on offense, but more he got lost defensively a bunch yesterday. he was a liability on both ends. we've got a player on our roster with 3 seasons of BigXII experience in Walker who once showed he could score at that level (8ppg as a freshman)...not sure where his shot went at TCU, but he still contributed on a team that made the round of 32 last season.
