  1. 5/10 Update 1. Rondel Walker - 6'5" 180 Sr., wing 2. Matt Stone - 6'4" 200 Sr., wing 3. Moulaye Sissoko - 6'10" 250 Sr., post 4. Alex Cotton - 6'5" 195, Fr., wing transfers 5. Johnathan Massie (Longwood) - 6'6" 190 Sr., wing ... 11.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 35% 3pt% 6. Jasper Floyd (Fairfield) - 6'3" 195 Sr., guard ... 9.5ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.1apg, 2.4 steals/game (9th in nation) 7. Latrell Jossel (SFA) - 6'1" 185 Sr., guard ... 12.9ppg, 2.3apg, 37% 3pt% 8. Brock Vice (Creighton) - 6'10" 245 Fr., post ... redshirted '23-24 season 9. Atin Wright (Drake) - 6'1" 185 Sr, guard ... 14.1ppg, 40.6% 3pt%, 38 steals 10. Grant Newell (Cal) - 6'9" 220 Jr, post ... 5.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 30.5% 3pt% 11. Brenen Lorient (FAU) - 6'9" 200 Jr., post ... 2.2ppg, 1.3rpg, 13 blocks freshmen 12. Tyron Mason (Plano) - 6'6" 185 Fr., wing - my best guess on a starting five / rotation 1. Jasper Floyd 2. Atin Wright 3. Rondel Walker 4. Johnathan Massie 5. Moulaye Sissoko Jossel will be a primary bench scoring option. I think Mason and Cotton will be fighting for for the same minutes at the 2/3. Stone will still get minutes kinda across the 2,3,4 spots for stretches...more if neither Mason nor Cotton show they can contribute and lock down a spot. I think Newell and Lorient are enough size/length/athleticism to get by as sort of a combo 4/5 off the bench. Vice's development is a wild-card, but if he shows anything we already have more depth inside than last season. I'm sure some here still want more size, but if we do spend the last scholarship, man I hope it's on a point guard. Floyd looks like a legit 1, but based on numbers Wright and Jossel look more like 2s...and while maybe they can handle, their strengths are as scorers. lack of PG depth hurt us more than lack of size/Sissoko-struggles.
  2. I recall being impressed with this kid's activity and effort in the games v. UNT. lots of upside and already has a season against high level competition under his belt. this is trading up on Morgan/Dixon's roster spot. I love it.
  3. the literal value, to a scholarship athlete or a regular paying undergrad, has been devalued 10-fold from what it was even 20 years ago. there was a time when a scholarship was probably right in line with appropriate payment. that time is well-passed. and it's not the 18-22 year olds today fault.
  4. play in MSG v. Villanova or a 1/3rd full Super Pit v. Tulsa. tough call.
  5. returning (so far) 1. Rondel Walker - 6'5" 180 Sr., wing 2. Matt Stone - 6'4" 200 Sr., wing 3. Moulaye Sissoko - 6'10" 250 Sr., post 4. Terrance Dixon - 6'8" 235 Jr/Soph?, post (scholarship?) 5. Alex Cotton - 6'5" 195, Fr., wing transfers 6. Johnathan Massie (Longwood) - 6'6" 190 Sr., wing ... 11.3ppg, 5.2rpg, 35% 3pt% 7. Jasper Floyd (Fairfield) - 6'3" 195 Sr., guard ... 9.5ppg, 5.9rpg, 4.1apg, 2.4 steals/game (9th in nation) 8. Latrell Jossel (SFA) - 6'1" 185 Sr., guard ...12.9ppg, 2.3apg, 37% 3pt% 9. Brock Vice (Creighton) - 6'10" 245 Fr., post ...redshirted '23-24 season freshmen 10. Tyron Mason (Plano) - 6'6" 185 Fr., wing if we assume Dixon is on scholarship. there should be three more to play with. apparently 2 D1 transfers are on campus this week. there's not a ton of size, but a lot of length on the wings which could make up for not having a legit 4. Floyd's numbers present him as a true PG...no clue on Jossel, but looks more like a scorer...I think either way, we need bare-minimum one more ball-handler. Vice/Dixon are both pure wild-cards...I'd say at least one more 6'8"-6'10" player no matter what...if either/both can contribute next season, then my last ship goes to another scoring guard...if not, go big
  6. 6'3" guard who gets you 6 boards a game, a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, 87 steals last season (Rubin, our best on-ball defender, had 127...for his career). yes please.
  7. just making sure @Andrew knows this option exists
  8. it's rare that they all come together in one day, but it has happened.
  9. financially? ha...oh goodness no. I spend my money on travel, music, drugs, golf, art, fine food & drink and my various charitable pursuits. like an interesting person. as a fan, sure. and I like the rest of you will be right back here supporting in the exact same way you have for 10, 20, 50 years. you'll be saying how ________ is the best PG or PF we've had here in decades, you'll rationalize away your "hate" for the portal with the fact that ________ is on his third school (at least until he transfers out at the end of next year) and you'll go on supporting the laundry because its what you do. the piety is boring so just stop. you never cared about the kids, just how they made you feel about your school...because that's somehow super important in your social circles
  10. if we count Umoja Gibson's first full season as his "true" freshman year (only played 2 games before injury straight out of HS), then it's him. if not, it's Josh White
  11. can't wait to pull all these "I'm done" receipts next February
  12. hi great to be with y'all, this is a real honor...um, I just wanted to tell, uh, I think, OJ...biggest fan in the world, um, here's uh...I have a good reason why...it was, I was about 6 years old, real quick story...1973 season, the magical season...um, 'scuse me I'm a lil nervous...ma, ha ha, my mom and I, err uh, are uh on the sidelines and it's before the game started and y'all are warming up, and she was trying to get my football signed by you and she yelled "Juice!", and, you, and I saw you coming over but I got distracted like little kids do...and I turned around and not only did you signed her football, but you had lanced my mother in the side of the neck with a pitchfork and signed it...
  13. this thread is sad on many levels. mostly marriage. yuck.
  14. why would he Bizjack only be wishful thinking? 3-star...TCU/Wisconsin/Butler were his top offers, but everyone else is a pier program or beneath...contributed as a freshman in the Big East, but 4.2ppg, 27% 3pt shooter, didn't exactly light it up. this looks like the ideal candidate...take a small step down a level in order to come back home
  15. I'm actually in the camp now that we're gonna see a few of these players back next season. it's only good business to test the portal waters and possibly leverage Hodge/UNT for as good a deal as possible. calling it now...Noland and Jones will be back next season. Scott maybe not...he has NBA metrics and upside and a year at a P5 could enhance his overall pro stock.
  16. so settle for what you have and not look to better yourself/family situation? must be a really positive work environment.
  17. this is actually a flawless answer, thank you. I guess I just don't need the external validation of many on here. I wonder how many people go to therapy on a semi-regular basis. one thing I pulled out, though..."Plus we get to know them well...they are one of us"...another poster mentioned something to the effect that they felt I think it was AScott felt like family. if there's actual consideration for the individual, wouldn't you then want them to be able to pursue better or at least the perception of better opportunities? Ryan Woolridge was one of my favorite players here...was stoked that he got the chance to finish his career at Gonzaga. like it or not, the Big XII and SEC (where we've lost players recently) are better conferences and game in/game out better experiences than what UNT/AAC has to offer. I can't fault the player for wanting more. top programs lose players after a year or two on the regular...be it one/two-and-dones who go pro or the same transfer portal issues...and they continue to reload because its a program, not one team/roster. maybe we need a few more years of winning basketball for more to recognize that we have a "program" in place now
  18. who the hell remembers, let alone has strong feelings about Ed O'Bannon's 19 games as a Dallas Maverick?
