While most of us want UNT sports programs to succeed, the first reason the athletes are at UNT is to go to college. You can't have a student-athlete if the athlete isn't a student. A horribly crappy W-L is difficult to stomach, but I find it more difficult to stomach getting a good player who does well and makes this team better, then can't play (or even leaves school) because he didn't make grades.

I'll agree with the "great guy" part. I liked him as a person. As a head coach, he just didn't have that magical combination that makes a coach a winning coach.

I had a serious flashback when I was entering the stadium. I was in line at Gate L, about to hand the lady my ticket, and the nearest stereo started blaring Ted Nugent's 'Stranglehold.' I tweeted and tagged Kevin Von Erich and Mean Green Sports, so.... yeah. Just had a moment there. Now, back to halftime.

Believe me, I am very well aware that I am in the minority. I support my undergrad alma mater in its efforts, but personally, I think the whole Big 12 effort was ridiculous. This Coog would not have crawled across broken glass to get an invite. Nope, of course not. But that's my point. UT has ALWAYS treated us like that. I don't hate 'em, but frankly, I couldn't care less if we ever played them again.
