You misunderstand me. I am absolutely not defending him. I dislike his antics because my undergrad degree is from Houston and he is a piss-poor representation of our fans. I was grumbling because of the loss to UConn, which was indeed a serious helping of humble pie.

It's so strange for me to see an actual seating chart for Rice. Back in the day, the MOB and the Rice students sat behind the Rice bench, the visitors' "section" was the entire visitors' side of the field, and Rice fans just sat wherever they wanted.

An excellent place to watch a football game, especially in nice weather. The MOB... well, it's the MOB. Their student section is loud, proud, and heckle with the best. And they've got a student-run pub on campus. When I was at Houston, the pub was in the basement of the chemistry building; it appears to have moved to the student center. We'd go on Wednesday nights, when you could bring your own pitcher-- any size, as long as it was shaped like a pitcher (boy, did our architecture students have fun with that)-- and they'd fill it with Shiner Bock for $2. http://willyspub.rice.edu/ This is a winnable game for us, depending on which UNT and Rice football teams show up.

I'd love to go, but we have commitments here at home that would keep us from making at least the first half. If something changes, we may go. My son (the freshman at UNT) is trying to get some buddies together for a road trip, so there is that. Rice Stadium is a great place to watch a football game, especially if the weather's cooperative and cool.
