  1. Interesting. I thought they were keeping the divisions model when we made the move. I kind of also like what the Pac12 did and do 9 conference games. Having 1 less OOC game makes them more valuable and we can hopefully get some good matchups/a more premium price tag if we go play the Alabamas/Ohio States of college football. Plus it would hopefully get rid of the FCS scheduling, those do nothing for us as fans.
  2. I know it will never come out, but I'd really like to know if there were talks and how far those talks went. MWC would have been the next best move if the AAC wasn't available.
  3. I feel like there was some truth to the MWC rumors. If true the AAC made a preemptive move to block the AAC from getting into TX/the central time zone.
  4. Because this situation wouldn't be happening last year, next year, or any other year UTSA has a higher record than us since they will be in our division. This year teams left unexpectedly and forced CUSA to have no divisions, creating the circumstance to keep us in the title race. Any other year and Saturday is the last game and we end up playing for either a 7-5 or 6-6 record. How is that not luck? I did't say we won games by luck, we got ourselves there. But this scenario is absolutely a lucky break for UNT.
  5. This year needed to have a good level of improvement to warrant an extension, UNT's play on the field did not show that. Does this year really feel like a CCG run? 6-5 with 2 conference losses? We are there by circumstance and luck that there are no divisions this year. Since the beginning of the year I said we had no choice but to let the season play out, let SL make his case as to why he deserves another extension. For me personally it was 8-4, so as soon as that 5th loss to UAB happened it was done for me. I understand you can't get rid of a coach that still has a chance to get you to a championship, so now we are forced to wait and see again. The only way he saves his job is to win the CCG.
  6. He should be gone already, he just got lucky there are no divisions this year and they still have a shot at the CCG.
  7. You can tell the guys still need to be coached into what Mac wants. It's understandable since we have so many new guys out there and they only have 3 actual games to try to work out the kinks. Having Perry and Jones back was a huge plus, you can tell they really helped anchor the team. Neither one of them is 100% so I expect them to step it up with more time and minutes. Hopefully the guys start to build that chemistry and gel into a single unit like Mac likes as they get more games under their belts.
  8. No word yet on Perry or Jones right?
  9. I think it's pretty clear they were hoping some surprise names would be left out by the bigger schools and UNT would swoop in and snag them. It didn't work out, and if you go back to that time people were pretty unhappy with recruiting to put it lightly.
  10. If anything it would only make UCLA lose their invite. There's no way UCLA would have any leverage into forcing the Big10, and maybe that's what the regents would want. Even the article mentions it as unlikely, but I guess technically possible. I'd think if they did block the move UCLA would then be able to sue the Regents over lost revenue as well so it gets very messy, and I doubt either side wants a long legal battle. I think it still goes through, but we will see.
  11. They stated that was their plan after having signed 8 players in early signing: They only added 5 more in February, hoping to land some surprise recruits with left over scholarships.
  12. Delay? Yes, but I don't think they can actually stop them from doing it.
  13. It'd be interesting to see if Colorado State and Air Force are still the top choice for further expansion, or if the AAC would want someone in a large city like Georgia St.
  14. Let's not forget the "Let's wait and see what's left." approach UNT took last year in the portal...
  15. One thing to worry about is upsetting the eastern schools. Adding CSU and AF would be good but they push the conference even more towards the west. Good for us, but it's making the east look a little sparse. I'm sure they would want someone like App. St.
  16. Our RBs have been excellent. Our offense has too many 3 and outs/red zone/sustained drive problems for me to feel confident about keeping Bloesch. I was not a fan of the "Let's wait and see what's left in the portal" approach to recruiting last year. They didn't go after much in the early signing period and settled for whatever was left. I think you need to go back and see how unhappy people were during that time.
  17. Is being realistic being negative? SL is expected to beat Rice and lose to UTSA if that happens. It's the truth, whether either happens or not is a probability dependent on circumstances. Nothing in the years that SL has been here have shown he will reverse the trend of winning games he shouldn't.
  18. Interested as to why you would want to keep Bloesch on? I would think much of our gripes about offense would fall on him; QB play, play calling, schemes, execution, recruiting, etc.
  19. This just shows SL can't win the tough games. Outside of WKU there hasn't been a game that he should lose, but won instead. One solid win and loses to UNLV, Memphis, SMU, UTSA, and UAB. Just think about that, it's not a good outlook for the future. Multiply this over multiple years and you can sum up this era.
  20. True. Plus they may be playing for bowl eligibility that game.
  21. It's time for a change. I know it, you know it, and I hope WB knows it. I would have my mind made up if I was the AD, but I'm sure SL will get the chance to finish out the season and if he can get to the CCG/win it he will get a chance to stay.
  22. I think if a player is going to leave, he will leave regardless. Everyone was worried about losing players last year if SL was let go, and we lost players anyway. It's better to let people go who want to, and rebuild with those that want to stay and play for a new coach.
  23. I know this isn't the most important part of your post but technically..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiJ9fy1qSFI&ab_channel=CoolBannanas13579
  24. The ultimate blame lies on those who built this team. Those who recruited/lost recruitment battles, and who coached/developed those players. Losing a game here and there because a player makes a mistake happens, but your overall body of work is made up of what you were able to bring here and how you made it perform on the field.
