  1. UConn? I think they are happy being able to schedule who they want, plus for independents it's a little more complicated. They'd have to buy out/re-schedule their entire schedules. The AAC would also miss out on their most valuable part, basketball. I just don't see that as beneficial to either side.
  2. I would too. Between DFW, Houston, and SA we have the major population centers of Texas covered. It'd serve the league better if some new markets were opened up. Temple is also on a bit of an island, if we can get someone out there to help them out that would be good. Army or UMass, the only thing about UMass is they don't fit the large market style the AAC has been going for. UConn would be ideal, but there's no way they join the AAC.
  3. Part of it is SMU, but this has also been a catch-all for realignment and what's going on with the Pac12, as well as scenarios for the Big12, MWC, AAC and Big10.

  5. Perry, Huntsberry, and who else has an extra covid year?
  6. I'm as surprised as everyone else, beating WKU by 34 points is a rare thing.
  7. Yeah I saw reports about that, I'd wager ESPN holds all of the leverage here. Looking at it from their eyes they already have SMU with the AAC, they don't have SDSU. If the PAC refuses to do as ESPN says they can just pull their deal, and essentially force the PAC teams to leave to the Big12, so they will have mountain/pacific time slots one way or the other. This deal is also rumored that Amazon and ESPN will carry 1 game EACH a week, with Amazon getting the premier match up. That's a huge drop in exposure and I would bet is the reason ION was rumored as a partner. They were trying to get more games on tv for the other members. That along with the getting paid $10m less than the Big12 is driving speculation of more defections.
  8. It all depends how this thing all shake out. The rumor is they have a deal for $22m, that's low for P5, but more than double what the AAC makes, so they will have some revenue coming in. The whole situation could stabilize or landslide at any minute because there's rumors flying everywhere right now. As far as being seen as a P5, which is a label that was created not an official designation, that too depends on if they lose more teams or not. If they manage to keep the 10 together maybe they can hold on to that perception. They'd have to overcome less revenue, and less exposure while still excelling on the field. If they lose more teams they can pretty much kiss that perception goodbye. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Five_conferences
  9. Hopefully he gets some minutes, as I don't think Hunstberry will play even if he is doing better. It's best not to risk him before the tourney. No Huntsberry, and no Martinez has us looking thin. Let's hope players can seize this chance to show their hard work in practice, and hopefully we get those two back to 100% before the tournament.
  10. People forget that the AAC wanted to pick up the Big12 leftovers if that conference broke apart, instead they get raided for their best teams because the Big12 name trumps the AAC one. Water flows down, and it's going to take a suspension of the laws of physics to change that, much like realignment.
  11. I just don't see it, even in the worst case scenario and you only have OSU/Wazzu, I still see the Pac12 name holding more value than the MWC. The big question is do they keep their bowl contracts, sponsorships, CFP payouts, NCAA credits, etc. The only way they would move to the MWC is if the conference dissolved, and if it somehow did I could see it as a toss up that they go independent in FB instead and put their olympic sports in the MWC or WCC.
  12. About what? UNT has zero skin in this, we've already made our conference upgrade. I find it hilarious you and others have spent so much time and effort on an opposing team's board. I can't imagine wasting my time at SMU's fan board, assuming they have one, I wouldn't know. See you Nov. 10th conference mate! 🤣
  13. Agreed. This cost App State $50m, but I believe it included demolishing an old building, removing of the track, and new turf.
  14. One big issue about changing this again later is re-doing the video boards (again.) From the pic we've been given you'd have to move them to build anything closer to the field. There's a lot of questions here and the biggest one is how much are they spending? I think that alone will tell us what it "should" look like. Because if we are spending $15m- and up we could be doing better imo. I also find it strange that they didn't opt to put the weight room, with a bunch of glass right at the field, like what LA tech did.
  15. Any word on what UNT is looking to spend? I'm very impressed in what LA Tech was able to get.
  16. I brought that discussion over to the football forum, because I think it's a really good/important thing to ask questions about. As for the BB side, I am still fully behind getting a new arena. It will really solidify our 2 biggest sports and give them top notch facilities.
  17. We had this interesting discussion brought up in the BB arena thread. So are the renders on the Light The Tower page final or just an idea? If they are then I have to agree with @GrayEagle and @UNTcrazy727 that our design is really lacking.
  18. From my understanding if they want to leave the ACC it will cost them $100m plus, but that's only to leave. It does not include getting out of the GOR, so until 2035 the ACC would still control and receive that team's media rights. That's a non-starter for any conference wanting to add a team from the ACC.
