  1. Heard some rumors regarding this during graduation among some of the members of the platform party. I knew S would eventually finish cleaning house, but still thought i would be in the Fall.
  2. Longhorn network kick-off is tied to a pretty down time for their sports programs. I don't see them getting rid of it. If they start winning again the network will reap the dividends. I think people are missing the fact that as bad as UT has been, the LHN almost broke even last year. If they are doing well, it will make $$. UT doesn't want the LHN for football or even basketball. It is for evey other sport (and for academics) that is the important part. If it is economically viable, or just runs as slight loss, it is well worth it for UT.
  3. Lets say that I am not necessarily willing to join a LLC, but be more than willing to donate to a gofundme that will go towards that LLC Essentially, here is my cash but I dont want to deal with the headaches with me being a long long ways away
  4. Does it include travel costs? Next season will cost me around 1-4k at a minimum depending on airfare and the like plus the apparel needs for the little one. I will fly in for 1-3 games (wife and the baby probably only one) plus a few other events for the university and airfare takes a toll. I will have to admit it would be very simple for me to just keep the cash in the pocket and not go, but UNT is home and many of our friends are still in the various PhD programs or are faculty in DFW and it provides a great excuse to come back to see everyone. Ask this in a year and I would not be shocked to give you a much different answer. This is a very big year for UNT athletics for me. If there is no real discernible vision that can easily be recognized, there are other event I can go to and I will just funnel most of that funding back into my departmental scholarship drive
  5. Back by popular demand! (and already posted on the basketball board) Go to: https://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/register/joingroup Click on "Join a Private Pool" Pool ID#: 153013 Pool Name: GoMeanGreen Password: gomeangreen Scoring System: (1-2-4-8-16-32) Traditional scoring system with a heavier weighting on picks in later rounds. Works well with Seed Difference bonuses 2 bracket maximum
  6. Are we doing one of these again or no? I cna set one up, but my schedule is somewhat hectic in March in general? Let me know if any of you are interested and we can go from there. 7. I hope one is fired, but I wouldn't be shocked if another one will be announcing his "retirement" in Nov effective at the end of the 16-17 academic year..
  8. Part of this is due to the fact that Baylor's UPD is refusing to share their information gathered during their investigation. State legislature has made any form of Title IX investigation free game for FOI's, including at private institutions. Baylor's UPD is refusing and they re now going through the legal process. Because of this and the complete refusal by Baylor to allow anyone to be interviewed that was actually involved in the process, ESPN has instead decided to hit Baylor where it hurts... Either you play ball with the media when you completely screw up like this or the press gets their pound of flesh in ways your never would expect. The idea that this has anything to do with anyone except the hubris shown by Baylor just shows a projection on your part and not a grand conspiracy by anyone else.
  9. This was leaked out a month or so ago.. UH was not pleased to say the least. Truth be told, I have more faith in UT-Houston becoming an academic power, like UTD, than I do of seeing UH follow through
  10. People need to accept that conference realignment at the P5 level is over for the foreseeable future.. UH gambled and lost. There wont be movement with the Big 12 getting their Conference Game. OU can whine all they want, but they will never develop an academic profile to get in the Big 10 in the time frame to force the rest of the Big 12 to move. Lets not forget that if OU gets their way regarding adds to the conference and a conference network, most teams will be losing money initially. KU, WVU, UT, and even OU I know for sure make more from their 3rd tier rights than what the SEC N produces with their network. This idea that the other members are just going to decide to take less money when OU has no real leverage makes this more an exercise in human behavior and the need to have hope vs the realization that this is much more than just a simple decision and there is a ton of money tied to it.
  11. I live WAY out of state.. Without these dates put up early, there is no way for me to juggle enough to make it.. I essentially have written off coming in, which in many ways is sad because this should be a great one to be at
  12. Lets also not forget to accredit a ton of the UH recruiting success for them hiring a particular HS coach on their staff..
  13. Couple of things... 1. The requests that the Big12 be forced to have a title game is coming from the Pac12 initially. 2. Newest version of the amendment requires this to only happen if every team plays each other in conf (round robin) and was included to keep the ACC from playing divisions and then choosing who gets in the title game 3. If you force the B12 to expand, and this will, then expect both this to go to court and to see this spur an even more confusing group of realignment at the G5 level. 4. Letting the B12 have a conf game is probably the safest option across the board for all the major players involved. If you force expansion you increase instability and the likelihood of one of the major powers, UT or OU, (and KU to an extent) moving increases. This is fine if you are the conference that gets either major piece both the others conferences lose out out. This is a game theory exercise and the safest alternative is to allow the B12 to gain stability and to grant this waiver.
  14. I kind of feel bad for UTSA at this point. Trying to do a coaching search this late in the cycle is difficult. They have had several (Luper, Applewhite, several other P5 Coordinators and the Rice HC) state no thanks at this point. That is one thing that RV got right in canning Mac soonner rather than later, and Coker did not give UTSA that luxury....
  15. Are they increasing the pool because they found the current set of prospect that they have on their list undesirable or are they raising the pool because this late in the game they had to to get the current targets they had to consider the position? Lets see who they get, then we can decide if the money was well spent or desperation
  16. Very simply he will be the most talented QB prospect UNT has had in a long long time. Given Littrells O, I can see the appeal to come in as a QB and hopefully put up enough numbers to get a look from someone (either as a QB or as a potential Grad assistant on an AirRaid O). This is a major get and UNT now has a QB to start putting prices around
  17. Have a buddy that teaches in their B School. They just dont have room to expand downtown. At this point, anything they can get is a bonus
  18. Isnt it a bit late in the process as far as the hiring cycle goes for him to bail out? Unless they get one of the guys that turned down interviews/jobs (Cumbie, Meacham, Briles) then this hurts their chance at a decent up and comer does it not?
