  1. Mark Davis also has a lot of political connections in the State. For years he has been the host for the Denton County Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, he is always the host for Senator Jane Nelsons biggest fund raiser (her annual 40th Birthday Party) and I have seen him host many other big political functions. He is a high profile Talk Show Host and his connection can only help.

  4. The pollsters, prognosticators, armchair QB's, etc. suggest we are DOA. FEAR NOT, we shall prevail. I predict VICTORY.
  5. He says Briles played at Houston but his alma mater is Tech, and yet fails to point out that Gill played at Nebraska but his alma mater is North Texas.
  6. I believe that was the Denton Chamber of Commerce mixer.
  7. Because in order to come up with $5 million they would have to take out a loan on the football stadium, sell band candy, have bake sales (probably in Shreveport and Monroe since Ruston is to small for a bake sale), and have their Women perform unprintable acts, etc.

  9. Looks like the family could have afforded a private school, that would have been the end of the story. The hype leading up to the story exceeded its value.
  10. He always spoke to me and always remembered my name when I saw him. He will definitely be missed.
  11. I think this rule would apply. NCAA Article 11: Conduct and Employment of Athletics Personnel: 11.7.2 Football Bowl Subdivision - There shall be a limit of one head coach, nine assistant coaches and two graduate assistant coaches who may be employed by an institution in bowl subdivision football. 11.7.2.1 Exceptions to Number Limits FBS - No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.2 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity, with the following exceptions: 11.7.2.1.1 Weight or Strength Coach FBS - A weight (strength and conditioning) coach may conduct flexibility, warm-up and physical conditioning activities prior to any game and prior to or during any practice or other organized activities without being included in the limitations on number of coaches. 11.7.2.1.2 Undergraduate Coach FBS - The limits on the number of coaches in this section do not apply to undergraduate coaches.
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of Luther Heggs.
  13. I was in the Walmart in Corinth today and in a prominent aisle in the middle of the store there was a 40+ foot long display consisting exclusively of OU junk. It practically jumps out at you. I did not look for NT items, I had the list to follow from my wife, but saw no display of items from any other University with the exception of a few UT items. It really offends me that a store less than 10 miles from UNT would have a display that large for an out of state school 200 miles away. The economic impact of UNT students and staff extends well beyond the city limits of Denton and certainly includes Corinth. I did not have time to fnd the manager and give him my opinion, although I shop there regularly I won't be going back.
  14. That would be my choice. Pohl has the recreation center named after him.

  16. If we get a home game with OU, I think we should play them anywhere they are willing, up to and including a Safeway parking lot.
  17. I have been told that 14 suites have been sold, which translates to at least $1.4 million in hand. Club seat sales are going reasonably well, and seats between the 35 yard lines require a $5000 a year contribution (for 2 seats) to the fund per year for 5 years. My conservative educated guess would be that so far we should have at least $250,000 in hand for Club Seats. Yes, we have a long way to go but that is not a bad start for a stadium that is 11 months from completion.
  18. I have a BBA from NT and a JD from Tech. When people ask me where I went to school, and I respond, they always say "So you are a Tech fan", and I always respond that I could care less about Tech sports and I am a Mean Green club member and season ticket holder of FB and BB at NT. What pisses me off is that many of these people have degrees from NT. If it is any consolation, I know two local lawyers who are Texas State and Texas A&M grads and both have already bought club seats for the new stadium.
  19. This will also be the next game after our victory over KSU in football. Perhaps we could work some football team recognition in as well as our formal bowl invite if it doesn't come right after the football game.
  20. Shiner Black Shiner Bock Pyramid Hefeweitzen and since someone else has admitted it, I to like Bud Light with lime and occasionaly MGD.
  21. As mentioned earlier, Troy isn't going anywhere. I think that that the schools that are most attractive in the eastern part of the SBC are MUTS, WKU, and USA.
  22. Do you still have your radio show about beer? Are you still judging the Texas State Fair Home Brew contest?
