  2. Maybe. Can you start a more interesting thread?
  3. The WAC had the chance to add NT,ULL, and ASU alltogether last time and would not do it. They only wanted one more team and reluctuncly settled for Idaho. A decision on the WAC should consider the financial situation of WAC schools (ex.SJSU and FSU), the possibility of Hawaii going indie, etc. As far as WAC expansion, consider that they are more likely to add western schools (ex. Montana, Portland State, etc) for budgetary reasons. With the Louisiana budget crisis I think that it is far more likely that La Tech will leave the WAC than it is that other schools will accomodate them. Nonetheless, if I ran the WAC I would try to add UNT, ASU, ULL, and TSU (a more compact grouping with LT and NMSU), add a Championship game between division winners at the home of the team with the best record and would break a tie with home average attendance numbers, and try to negotiate the best TV contract that I could.

  5. Perhaps we will get Gene Stallings as a consultant!
  6. The term "Cougar High" came from the fact that UH was started by the HISD as a JC in the twenties and first held classes at a local high school, became a 4 year institution in the 30's and wasn't seperated from the HISD until 1945. I believe that Houston High School graduates who went to other Universities nicknamed it "Cougar High". Every Aggie I know always refers to it as that, although I can't say that about graduates of other Universities. I have never used the term because I am afraid that people would think I am an A$M grad.
  7. I like. Known opponent. Winnable game. We should be able to fill up our own stadium. Great choice.
  8. No. Reality trumps percepton everytime. Reality in this case is in part that the SBC is less costly, better for student athletes, and in better time zones for media coverage.

  10. Gene Stallings wants to stay in Big XII (10) http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/13521336/texas-am-regent-stallings-wants-big-12-to-survive?tag=headlines;other Texas still rules. (sadly)
  11. If ISU,MU,KSU,KU,and BU stay together and are unable to get the BE to merge or take any BE teams then my ideal result would be taking those 5 and adding CUSA members Memphis, Houston, and Tulsa and SBC member UNT. That would be a decent BB conference and increase media coverage in Texas.
  12. Perhaps with the budget problems in California some politicians have put the squeeze on SDSU to be in the same conference with other FBS schools in California. Just a thought.
  13. Interview on Channel 8 with Chip Brown said some rumors that Arkansas has made contact with Big 12 about membership.
  14. As much as I dislike La Tech, I think we should invite them back,as well as attempt to bring NMSU back and expand to 12 football teams with USA coming on board. WEST NT NMSU LT ULL ULM ASU EAST FAU FIU USA Troy MT WKU
  15. As opposed to San Jose State and Idaho (been to the kibbie dome?) I would rather save the money and put it into the facilities, have what media coverage we can get (we would not get it out west), have our athletes arrive back home at a reasonable hour (good for academics), and stay in the SBC than go to Idaho, Nevada, the middle of nowhere Utah (yes I have driven through Logan), San Jose, or Hawaii!!!
  16. I am opposed to WAC membership. However, if it was to happen, I would rather have TSU or UTSA than Troy or MTSU. I would like to have another TX school to play every year and the more compact the division the better for all sports.

  20. The last time we were invited to the WAC they only wanted one team. Had they offered ASU and ULL along with us I believe we would have gone. A non AQ conference consisting of teams primarily from the Mountain and Pacific time zones is not a good option (Idaho, Utah St., SJSU, Fresno, Nevada, and Hawaii are to far away). A 12 team WAC with an eastern division that includes LT, NMSU, NT,and 3 additional Central time zone teams might work. Nonetheless, I would want the option to leave on short notice with minimal fees to join and to exit.
  21. With the opening of the new stadium should we start any new traditions? I remember when Dennis Parker came he had a metal eagle nest built and placed at Fouts Field and in it he put eggs with scores from big victories painted on them. The idea was abandoned as soon as he left. Any ideas?

  23. A friend of mine, fellow season ticket holder, was hoping that JJ would get another job last year because he believes Foy would be better. He says "look when we started winning and you'll see it was when Foy came". Perhaps in the future we will find out.
