  1. Got my tickets. Me and Mrs. EagleMBA are in E-18-seats 7 &8. PROBLEM: they didn't send my extra tickets that I bought to entertain people for Tulsa, Troy and LA-Mo. Have had to email them about it in hopes that they will fix the problem before it's too late. There always seems to be some problem every year. Guess I could fix it myself by not bothering to bring guests to the games, but that is no help to the program.
  2. I saw the last few minutes of regulation and then OT. I was thinking that OHIO was an example of what happens when a team plays not to lose. It almost bit them in the ass, in fact they probably should have lost. Nonetheless, I was very pleased to see Pitt go down.
  3. SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! The D comes up big, stuffs their run, Ransom tattoos Marks about 4 times and Marks coughs it up once. Our D comes of age right there in the 'Boro. Jamario and Pat both have good days ... 100+ each. We rule time of possession AND the scoreboard. Final - UNT 35 MUTS 17 Mark it down!
  4. DMN this morning quotes RV as saying a final resolution is forthcoming this morning (Friday).
  5. All told, I thought the Owls acquitted themselves well. But for the mistakes (see our last game against Arkansas for reference) it would have been a tight game. We need to be aware that these guys are legit, particularly since they handed us our asses at home last year. I was not embarrassed for the SunBelt.
  6. Come out smokin', men, and leave no doubt that we are the best damn team they will play all year.
  7. They had enough seats for the WHOLE squad but the other 65 wanted to sit on their buddy's lap.
  8. The line in the DMN this morning is that we are a 4.5 point dog.
  9. This is the first time I ever got a nosebleed just from looking at a camera shot!
  10. I found the UTPA writeup pretty much on the mark, especially the part about party and screw. They overkilled on the Mexican angle, it's really somewhat diverse there. That's where yours truly got his B.B.A. and I liked the area, the people, and the education I earned there. Taken as a whole, this overview of Texas higher education was quite amusing.
  11. "I GOT YER TIGER BAIT RIGHT HERE ! "
  12. The newly-weds, Mr. and Mrs. EagleMBA, will be staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown. The 1 King Nonsmoking rate was $80.19 advance guaranteed. Looks like it is in a good location vis-a-vis the casinos.
  13. My line has been busy. I hope Dr. Pohl will keep dialing my number. JD, expect my PM shortly re: your availability.
  14. Disagree RE: last year's UT game. It was embarrassing. That loss so traumatized me that I won't go to LSU (unless I win the raffle, of course). I just don't want to see our guys lay down again, and it sure looked like that's what happened last year at UT. Having said that, my score prediction was for a highly competitive game at LSU; I pray to God it is respectable for any number of reasons, which have been discussed on this board. This program must have a decent OOC showing this year to keep building momentum. I have always been intrigued by the injury issue when playing "the big boys". We always perceive a higher level of injury risk in those games, yet logically our guys came from the same high schools and played on the same teams as the other guys. The "big school" players are not raised in isolation, fed special diets, and bred to be super-humans. DD's recruiting has been in high gear the last two or three years and our men are physically a match for "theirs". They may go deeper on the roster but I would proudly state that, IMHO, we can put guys on the field without fear of them being physically abused.
  15. Oh $hit, Oh $hit, Oh DEAR! Should we bother to show up? I think it will be closer, guys. THEY have a few changes to go through, too, like new coaches, probably a new offense, injuries, first game just like us, etc. They DO have Death Valley, but we seem to be able to cope with OU and DKR stadiums just fine. LSU 35 NT 14 Mark it down.
  16. I am ticket #101. That's a winner! The usual suspects can expect a PM ASAP after I win, JD! It would be fun to watch LSU choke on us Tigerbait!
  17. Could the lack of a crown at home be to our advantage and, conversely, be a disadvantage on the road? Seems to me that the quarterback and receivers would have to make adjustments when playing on a flat versus a crowned field. Is this thought much ado about nothing?
  18. I'm in shock and mourning. Dr. Pohl is fantastic and his leadership and vision has been extraordinary. It is not unusual for a person of his caliber to give his all for a few years, then move on for a fresh set of challenges to renew the drive. Nonetheless, he will be missed and his tenure here has flown by in a heartbeat. Too soon to leave us, Dr. Pohl, too soon ... much too soon.
  19. Shane, I am planning to make the trip with Mary (will be Mrs. EagleMBA by then). We'll be looking for one room, sounds like the Horseshoe for us as a first option. I hope we'll generate enough interest to warrant a group deal somewhere. If we're able to consolidate and get a group deal at another casino that's OK; I'll go with the group.
  20. I usually start my gameday about 10:00am with a trip to Red Coleman's on Greenville Avenue in my Mean Green gear for ice and lots of SHINER IN CANS. Usually pick up some cheap wine in little bottles for my bride-to-be. Back to the house and listen to her whine that I want to leave too early (she is cutting into my drinking time). Try to leave Richardson about 4 hours before kickoff; trip usually takes close to an hour before the first top is popped in the Orange lot. We'll make all home games and the road trip to Ruston; the NO Bowl is still being negotiated with the above-mentioned lady.
  21. Stan R, you are the LUCKY one!! I'll be trying to restrain a rowdy grandma from tearing my head off while signaling "First Down" She also shouts a mean "D-Fense" and, on crucial third-and-one plays, "Break His *#!%ing Leg".
  22. You bet, JD! Or, give me a location (i.e., Sec E, Row 12, Seat 15) and I will specifically request that my 2 season tickets be near there.
  23. I've made considerably more than the minimum MGC donation for several years now, but my requests to be moved to Section E have been ignored in the past. I'm sending in my season tickets renewal and MGC renewal this weekend and it will be interesting to see if I'm still assigned seats in a less-desirable area even after my reiterated request to be moved. My current seats are not really crappy so I haven't done more than grumble so far. I'm in the frame of mind to be more vocal this year.
