  1. I still say look at what Kragthorpe did at Tulsa. Tulsa had 2 two win seasons prior to Kragthorpe as HC. He had a winning season his first year as head coach and then won a conference championship. He has the tools to win at a mid major. Kragthorpe will have a sunbelt championship within 3 years. PUT IT IN THE BANK...
  2. You win a game then you must ask the other team how to celebrate without hurting their feelings? Give me a break. If you don't want the other team celebrating on your field or in your stands then do not have a stupid coaching mistake at the end of the game. Bottom line: If you win then you celebrate and play your fight song as loud as you freaking can....
  3. My understanding is that he will be announced as a HC but not at UNT. I dont think we have enough money to get into a bidding war.
  4. Actually, I believe that RV wants excitement to bring in the new stadium. That is either with a Sunbelt Championship or a "Name" coach. The Championship will most likely not happen. The "Named" coach will.
  5. It will be Jeff Bower if RV can get him to move to Dallas. I think his wife is from Dallas. But they have a few extremely good personal reasons to stay in H'burg area. If not Bower, then I look for Kragthorpe to be the new HC. Both are solid choices but I do not look for them to be popular choices with the fans of GoMeanGreen.com. Good luck this year I will make it to a couple of games.
  6. Shelton Gandy - Running Backs Coach - For obvious reasons.
  7. According to US News and World Report Troy is a 3 tier University with 1 being the best. UNT is a 4 Tier as is Southern Miss. For what it is worth the prep route and the JUCO routes are different in nature. By closing this "loop hole" it forces schools like Ole Miss to go the Prep Route like UNC. You try to figure out who pays for the Prep Route because I cannot and the NCAA does not seem to care. But rest assured this loop hole helps schools like UNT, Troy and Southern Miss. I guarantee you that if Dodge had the opportunity to over sign while "placing" 3 stars at a JUCO's while grades got in order he would. The fact is that Dodge does not have this problem and therefore it is not an issue.
  8. You may be surprised to find out that Troy is a 3 tier school while UNT is a 4 Tier school according to US news and world report.
  9. The presidents have discussed it multiple times. About the footprint.... We stretch from El Paso to the Atlantic Ocean. I like a lot of things about CUSA but a well defined foot print is not one of them. Troy, South Alabama (because of basketball and baseball tradition and the hope that football will be grow quickly), and a couple of MAC teams.
  10. Good question. My guess is that CUSA plays it cards in hopes of a 8 team playoff system. With 8 conferences having a tie in. Meaning that the Mountain West and the WAC somehow combine their top teams to form a very good conference. Then CUSA grabs a couple programs the help us to be the other conference no matter what the other conferences do. With an 8 conference tie in playoff system teams can schedule more difficult out of conference games that do not hurt their chances of playing for a national championship. A more pointed answer is that Troy always comes up a the next addition to CUSA.
  11. IF the big 10 expands look for Pitt to jump. The Big East has a problem in that some of those football schools would rather stay with the basketball schools. The basketball schools do not want to expand. CUSA is talking about expanding to 16 teams. I think that we will benefit GREATLY from the next shake up.
  12. Ummm. The number of schools that offered does weigh in on the Star system. It is not a perfect system but I would rather have as many stars a possible on my recruiting roster.
  13. UCLA, Washington ST, Arkansas, Louisville are all cupcakes. Look you cannot help if one of those teams have a down year. You schedule them, you play them and you continue to do so until you are beating them. Boise was in div 1 AA in 1994 and look at where they are today with fewer resources then UNT.
  14. Do you want to check that yourself or would you like me to correct you?
  15. That is an opinion that you and I do not share. The FACT is that he was not prepared for the task at hand and was not given the resources to get the job done expeditiously. Having said that I am impressed with where he has this team and feel like it is too early to "pull the trigger".
  16. then you are playing in the wrong division.
  17. 1. No! 2. It depends. RV obviously wanted to change the type of football being played at UNT. The rebuilding pains could have been limited had he hired a HC who was "pro type" offense oriented VS running the spread. So if there is a change you would think that RV would find a HC who wanted to keep the spread. So the rebuild to the new Coach's system should translate. 3. Not at first! The stadium is for the fans. The more fans the more money the more money the more..... the better the recruits. Players want to play and win. They will go to a school with an inferior stadium to play and win. Coaches sell a bill of goods to recruits and the stadium is pretty far down the list. High on the list is playing big time programs. I wish the UNT fans would embrace the scheduling of the big AQ BCS teams rather then calling them body bag games.
  18. The odds are in your favor that if there is a 7 win team there will be room for them in a bowl game. It looks like the Sunbelt will have 2. A 6-6 team will likely stay at home no matter the conference.
  19. 99% of the people on this Board wanted RV to hire TD. When the time comes to hire a new HC, RV does not owe this board anything.
  20. Not in Football. They will take the best "x" number of teams.
