everyone does have an opportunity. I guess it depends on where you draw the line. It is not very realistic to think that every conference will be represented every year. And it does take an outstanding season for anyone to win a NC that is why it is so special. We all want a changed BCS system. But the fact is that UNT has no chance to go to a BCS because UNT will not play the schedule that it takes.

Why would every conference champion get an auto invite? You absolutely cannot justify equal representation.

Uh, so is the Sunbelt. They are just not an auto qualifying BCS league. But they are a BCS league. Chances are if you go undefeated and play 2 better then average out of conference teams from an AQ BCS league then you will go to a BCS game. The problem is that UNT fans call those games "body bag" games. The problem that Boise is facing is that they only played one good team all year.

I find it very difficult to believe that someone would consider this a good idea.

I read the Vitto articles even though he continued to misrepresent the fact that UNT is a BCS school. But I stopped reading his garbage after misrepresenting and slamming Troy for how they sign athletes. Although I am not in any way a Dodge fan (I was against hiring a HS coach) he is not the biggest problem with UNT Football... and I am not talking about RV.

If you really do not think that some of Dodge's success from Southlake would not transfer to the Sunbelt then there really is no need to discuss your opinion of JUCO players and 5A players. But again I was strongly against this "people choice" candidate. But for what UNT needs and for what is best for this program I just do not see getting rid of him... yet. Focus should be else where.

I think that UNT has shown great growth from last year to this year. Even though the outcome tonight is not desirable I truly feel that UNT will win 5 of the last 8 games this year. Good Luck!

No! not blaming Dickey and Crew. More of a corporate blame (which includes you if you are a fan). Just Kidding!!!! I am not blaming you. Let me clear one thing up though. I did not support the hire of Dodge. HS to College usually does not translate well when speaking of head coaches. However, I do not think that you have the success at the HS level (Especially 5A TEXAS which is the equivalent of JUCO) and not have ANY success in the sunbelt unless the wheels had already totally fallen off. I predict a better year this year in conference play then last year though this is not a good start.

I hope that you are correct. I was never a Dodge fan but he is NOT this bad of a coach. This is telling as to the shape the program was in prior to his arrival.

Lets Send UTEP to the WAC for La Tech and then we will trade you La Tach for a Sunbelt team (How about UNT?)

Sorry for the confusion. Allow me to clarify what I think is most probable. I see CUSA expanding to 16 in next 2 years. I have actually heard that the presidents are talking about this. I do not see the Big East doing anything unless it involves ND (which I do not think will happen). Big East is interested in Basketball not football. They will not do anything to upset the Basketball formula (my humble opinion only).

My understanding is that this is already being considered. What they are looking for is an increase in odds that there will be a standout program in each major sport each year. But who knows? I personally do not see the Big East Expanding unless it is a very special program.

1) congrats on the win over Ball St. And I thought that UNT should have one last week. 2) $5,000 per month does not equal $120,000 per year (Maybe I read the article wrong). Either way, that is not much money. I do not think that they are thinking that this will do anything other then give them a "to do" list. 3) I do not see a shake up within 2 years unless CUSA expands to be a 16(?) team "Mega Conference" good luck this year

The fastest way to generate income with sports is with basketball. One win in the NCAA basketball tournament means more money then a win in a football bowl game (on average). But you should not cut football obviously.

Should be Basketball. You can build an athletic department in 1 of 2 ways: 1. Basketball - because it is easier to make money then in any other sport or 2. by throwing a ton of money at football. UNT needs to find a way to get the mens basketball team to the NCAA tournament every year. This really should be focus #1.

And the upside that UNT brings if they ever get going. Large Market, Large University... I'm not sure if we have a tier 4 university CUSA so there may be a push to get UNT up to a tier 3. I really would like to see UNT in and UTEP out.

Neither of the 2 proposals provide a better conference then CUSA currently has so how would CUSA benefit? I just dont get this type of merger talk.
