Tulane would definatley be in the mix. They are good in Baseball and usually fairly good in Basketball plus there is a lot of history there. I think Tulsa is higher on the list then Marshall. SMU was a mistake. We would try to get TCU back and I hear they want to come back if we can get the stability. I agree CUSA is looking at how to be more stable. We currently have the mix to be better then the Big East in everything except basketball.. UNT needs a new stadium and Baseball.

Well I do not think that the Big East will pick up another team. Not yet anyway. Way to much would have to happen. And if they do take another team and if that team comes from CUSA I look for major CUSA policy changes. I think that the staples of CUSA will walk start a new conference with major penalities for leaving. Had this conference had stability from the onset it would be a AQ BCS conference. The current problem is that it is way to easy for a team to leave the conference and UofM, East Carolina and UCF are trying desperatly to get into the BigEast even if it means selling their soul to the devil. The Big East will likely only take one team if any. So in my opinion with the improvements that the schools are making CUSA can still be a better football conference then the Big East in 5 years. We are already better in Baseball. Our basketball currently sucks but really could have had 2 additional teams in the NCAA tournament. We are 2 years away from consistently sending 3-4 teams to the tournament. That is unless Memphis leaves.

How often do these things pass the first time?? This is a huge concern. The pac 10 already plays a 9 game conference schedule. but with no conf championship game that gives 2 non conference games but only 2.

This is a reality and it is very bad for non AQ teams. I hope that the link below works if not maybe someone can help me.. It looks like the ACC is pushing the AD's to go to a 9 game conference schedule. That means that we don't have the opportunity to play the big boys. As other conferences are sure to follow. We dont get the money from the games. It is another avenue to keeping the rich... well, rich. If something like this happens we very well may be talking about a playoff system. True and Favre was one of the players also. He was most likely headed to hattiesburg anyway as scout QB. He just got his Scholarship a year early and it guaranteed him coming to Southern Miss. A highly rated defensive player (cant remember his name) bolted for Bama so Brett got the ship. It is still a rarity..

The ships are not in jeopardy because they are not being used. The athletes that were going to use them are not coming back. 5 ships a year every year is a big deal. but not just for one year. Let me ask you something. Is every player that has a locker and pads on scholarship?? The answer is no.. So the question becomes who among you (who is currently paying your own way) is not going to get one of these ships through default because someone flunked out or is hurt. And by the way many coaches honor the ships of injured players because of the emotional impact the give the team. So that is one less ship that they can offer. And how about kickers. They almost always start their college career without a scholarship and then MAYBE get one their senior year... So you see there are many players that play without a scholarship.

Spoken like someone who chooses to not understand what is going on.... The 5 Scholarships that are lost are NOT being taken away from ANYONE. They are not being utilized due to attrition. So it did not hurt the signing class this year. And it WILL prevent 5 practice squad players (who are currently enrolled and playing football and do not expect to get a scholarship) from getting a full ride. So 5 current practice squad players will not get bragging rights saying that they got a full ride. IF TODD DODGE CAN NOT EXPLAIN WHY WE LOST FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS (TO FUTURE RECRUITS WHO SHOULD PLAY AND WILL GET A SCHOLARSHIP AS A FRESHMAN) THEN HE IS ABSOLUTELY NOT THE MAN FOR THE JOB. IT IS A SHAME AND MAYBE UNFAIR THAT WE GOT HIT SO HARD BUT IT SHOULD NOT HINDER OUR SUCCESS AT THIS POINT.

Great read and good find.. But all the teams mentioned are BCS teams.. Back on point I cannot wait to watch Casey next year. The system will be better installed and wide open. Can you imagine how much fun this team will be to watch with some defensive stopping power and explosive scoring power... UNT specialists will get a lot of exposure next year while putting up huge offensive numbers.

WHAT... Are you kidding me... I guarantee that 90% of the mean green fans cannot name the bottom 10 players on the team depth chart. These are the guys that get the free ride for being a walk on for so long... Those who may not get the Scholarships are not the recruited athletes who expected to get a scholarship. And if Dodge is recruiting against another school who uses the argument that "his scholarship may not be a solid" then we win. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WALKONS OR 1 STAR PLAYERS. Let it go... One of our top recruiting disadvantages is not the number of scholarships being given... HECK I don't know of 1 non-AQ team that has all Scholarships designated to "recruited athletes".

You are kidding yourself if you think that this is a major violation. A couple of practice boys will not get a free ride. They were probably not recruited anyway (atleast not heavily)... Dodge can handle this with recruites. It really is not an issue. It will be resolved. If Dodge cannot talk through this then he is not the recruiter that we thought he was... He has much bigger hurdles to jump then this... This thread should be deleteed.....

This is not fair. And that is the problem not the loss of a few scholarships. Typically there are a few scholarships that go to the practice group and you usually have enough walk ons to fill those shoes. Would we rather have the scholarships to give sure. But this will not cause a slip in momentum. It needs to and will be corrected and then we need to move on..

More then you think... Coaches have a lot to do with scheduling yes the office of the AD actually makes the games happen.

The problem with the bowl games is that there are too dang many of them. But not one team wants to stay at home. It comes down to money. Who will tune in to watch a game. Attendance and how well a team travels goes a long way. Personally I think that the Sunbelt needs a new Commissioner.

What my Southern Miss Eagles dont get credit. I like to think that we better then the teams mentioned above.
