Has DMAC ever said anything about Cooper Jones? He appears to have great size... Just curious. He was a 3* and all out of high school... offer from air force if memory serves me... For some reason, I vaguely remember something to the effect of Jones playing elsewhere on the team...outside of QB, but I don't know if I dreamed this up. curious how he'll contribute once the redshirt year is gone... into next season...

A recruiting class's beauty is in the eye of the staff developing them... We can pull 5*'s all day long, but if they come out of high school as studs and produce nada on the field, then how awesome is their rating out of high school? It appears that these ratings are based on athleticism, strength, div 1 readiness, and intelligence/coachability... in other words, a projected potential at the college level. I think the coaches we have now will get more with less than any coaching staff we've had since I've been paying attention...

why would it not be feasible to take another CH player? if the kid can play, then why would it matter? Colton doesn't show up on espn, rivals, and scout... I have no doubts that if Colton is a player, DMAC and company have evaluated the kid. he seems to have decent size. I know we can use 3 more to go with Sir Calvin and Dylan McDorman... Especially since Micah Thompson is now an O-lineman and Terrell Brooks is no longer with the team...

Interesting... I don't mind recruits being stealthy... 4.4 is always welcome. This kid has some pretty decent pedigree... Go Mean Green... With DT and a deep o-line getting one year better and if we can groom some additional speed threats that can catch, Vito might upgrade the fighting spork to a full fledged set of plastic wear from say Dickey's Bar-b-que or something... Welcome Mr Hines!

I'm about to re-iterate one of the most obvious points ever, but what the heck. I'm inspired based on all the random points I've heard over the last 48 hours... I was listening to a spare radio show Saturday before noon, and I heard them ask a question. "Why do SEC defenses appear to be head and shoulders above the rest of the country?" Now you can debate the merits of the general statement based on your particular big boy program biases(I was raised a big 10 fan, specically Ohio State), but consistently this has held true in my eyes... this year it is bama and lsu... Follow me on this here... if defensive line(DT, DE, and LB's) is in fact the key(which I agree with),then how can we tap into this most precious of limited resources? D-MAC is obviously going to have to continue his track record of developing kids at this position...but here is my question... I just heard boomer and the rest of the annoying personalities talk about Suh for the Lions...comparing him to Our Own Mean Joe... He then proceeded to make a point about Suh that included singling out Mean Joe as being THE transcendent player on one of the greatest defenses/dynasties ever in the NFL. Have we ever tried to hire Mean Joe as a Recruiting specialist/staff member to sit his legendary butt in young men's living rooms, vouching for D-MAC's ability to coach and develop the highest level of the most important part of a football team?(ok, maybe outside of QB and o-line...stay with me here). Just curious if Mean Joe has ever been on staff at U of NT? Are the number of coaches on staff at a university limited by any ncaa rules? Just having him recruiting all year long seems like it would be one of those advantages that seems obvious that we should take FULL advantage of... Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered over and over and over... I was just inspired by a stupid saturday morning radio show and the sunday morning nfl preview this morning... I always chuckle at the assumptions on this board that the UNT AD department is sitting on their hands by the phone...waiting for a phone call.

First Rule of Brainstorming is that there are no bad/stupid ideas...you may not think this after reading my post... 1. How about if we pay to host high school playoff games at Apogee Palace that will be on TV? You know, since nobody has paid us to have their games there... 2. I think the football team should really try to win a lot of games... Not just win them, but pound teams and win by 50... I think that would be a good Georgy... 3. We should allow drinking inside the stadium... that way everybody can keep the party going inside the stadium instead of drinking in the parking lot all game long... I was soooo put out by seeing the KA letters up on the hill by a full tent ALL GAME LONG. Maybe along with the free sunglasses, we have bring your favorite flask night or something like that.... Your most creative beer hat design... 4. The on campus spirit club should recruit the hottest girls on campus...like atleast 100 of them. Maybe even form an alliance with some university money funding such an alliance with the sororities on campus. Give them stuff like shirts and have them drive the campus spirit...INSIDE THE GAMES... 5. Give students a homework pass, or some minor grade pass, if they go to a game. So, at the end of the game when students are filing out, they hand them out. This gives them the option to turn this pass in in lieu of an assignment... Kind of like when you get a coupon for a free chalupa at Mavs games when they win and score 100+ points. If they get passes for all the home games, it turns into a test/major grade pass... 6. Hire the Denton Police department to shutdown tailgating after 5:00 outside the game. Make it illegal, like give them a ticket and/or haul them off to jail for either not going into the game or leaving... That's all from me for now...

I often ask the same question all the time... I guess we really need to DOMINATE. Not just win the conference...not just squeak out victories...we need to roll up HUGE wins over and over again... That is the only way we get our alums to take notice.

Dude...I'll ask for the 4* defensive tackles... Then, somebody else ask for 4/5* dual threat qb's... and then somebody else ask for 4/5* offesive linemen... then we can all get together and see our awesome new toys together... year after year after year after...uh...year?

So, the grizzled vetran QB, Dahbeed, comes up to the line of scrimmage and is really trying to draw the defense offsides with a hard count...to no avail... the offense has to burn its last time out...and punt the ball away. Good idea...i mean what have you got to lose? sometimes you just have to take a shot.

well, 4.4 is pretty salty if that is verifiable... you know, not from a hand timed test. I'd say this kid needs to send in a tape or try and contact McCarney in some way. For the first time in...well...ever, I have the utmost in confidence that our coaching staff is evaluating just about all the talent in the area...but, they can't possibly be on top of everyone in the dfw area... no matter how many hours they put in watching film and visiting area high school games... you never know. UNT has camps in the offseason... I imagine he could turn some heads if he goes to one of these and he is what you say he is... Do you know this kid? encourage him to reach out to McCarney/Caneles... Go to a camp or two....

I am very much excited about seeing this game at Apogee Palace. Are they world beaters? NO. Are they a solid belt team this year... YES. I was impressed with their showing at LSU, but I would imagine that LSU put about 5 minutes of game planning into that one... Their offensive and defensive lines were what impressed me the most against LSU. That is what worries me about this game. But, it does appear that our offensive line is starting to gel with the youngsters, and the d-line appears to be holding up...although they were worrying me towards the end of the troy game by allowing Troy to run the ball... Weary of Rainey in the 4th quarter. We shall see. Apogee HAD BETTER BE ROCKIN! It doesn't look like crowd noise intimidates them though...
