  1. Think about this, the other guy taking snaps that game, who went 1 for 6 for 7 yards with 2 INTs(1 pick 6) and 2 sacks as a redshirt junior, is our redshirt senior starter.
  2. We will find out September 12. 2014 McNulty did play 4 drives against SMU. He led 2 (26&27yd) field goal drives from midfield, one (21yd) touchdown drive from the red zone, and a punt drive (-1yd) from our own 15. How much did those 6 games he started and the offseason improve him? We shall see.
  3. If Canales walked, the offense would get worse because Quartaro would take over and he is even more of a Mac guy than Chico is. If Chico goes down, put the nail in the coffin of our offense.
  4. I posted this in another thread and think it should be pointed out here as well.
  5. I'm not sure if you paid attention to the offense in the last game but here are some numbers you may be interested in. We had 13 total drives in the '14 SMU game, 2 were 52 yards or longer and the other 11 were 31 yards or fewer. That isn't exactly moving the ball with ease. We had 5 punts, 5 field goals, and only 3tds. We started within 10 yards of their half of the field 7 times, yet only got 29pts out of it with only 2 of those 7 drives being for touchdowns and 5 for field goals. Some folks around here are in for a rude awakening if SMU's offense isn't as bad as it was last year.
  6. Brandon Kennedy has your backpack.
  7. I'm still not convinced that SMU is going to be the cakewalk that everyone on here thinks it'll be. I promise you, we will be thanking our lucky stars if we can get out of their with a one touchdown victory. We aren't coming off of a HOD bowl win this time. We don't have Akunne and Lee anymore busting heads on D. The defense went into Austin last year jacked up and played pretty well except for being on the field WAY TOO MUCH due to our anemic offense that can be planted squarely on the shoulders of the two quarterbacks that played. The defense got up again for the SMU game and was able to win the game with the help of our RBs in spite of the quarterback play. I'm worried about not having a headbuster like Lee at safety.
  8. While I will agree Manziel trusted Evans to go get some balls he threw up for grabs, he threw many that were dead on to Labhart, Swopes and company. Manziel's greatest assets were his running ability and escapability. McNulty could only dream of Manziel's level of those two assets.
  9. I'm surprised at how many people are calling for Briles' head and Baylor sanctions. Has anyone noticed what goes on at FSU as Jimbo cashes his checks?
  10. Is it not possible that Peterson is being a bit shady? Question, no info.
  11. +1 for Woody Wilson reference Based on the timing of my beginnings in watching college football in the mid-90s, I think Tommie Frazier would by my #1.
  12. Below I've posted the article in its entirety. I have bolded the things he did at Boise. I fail to see how one violent outburst (not of a sexual nature) is supposed to end his FBS career. How did he turn every female on campus into a potential victim? Every girl had the potential to be his girlfriend, and had the potential to get into a domestic dispute with him, and the potential that he may break a window during said domestic dispute? I'm not saying this guy is a saint or even if he deserved a shot at Baylor. I am saying that this writing is garbage and this guy is making HUGE leaps in his story. The only thing Briles did wrong IMO is not keep better tabs on the kid while he was at Baylor, same could be said for Texas though. (Meander and Sanders anybody?)
  13. This was my initial thought as well, like when SMU got too good too fast in the 80s. Yes they cheated but they certainly weren't the only ones. It's Baylor's turn to be taken down by the "traditional powers".
  14. Whoops, Commerce's head coach is what I meant. Colby Carthel, the HC at Commerce, was the DC for his father Don at WTAMU.
  15. Ridiculous story. So this means every athlete with a temper who breaks a window in front of his girlfriend is a likely rapist and a threat to every woman on campus? Get real, the story says nothing of rape at Boise, only a rage issue.
  16. I wouldn't expect anything better from a committee headed by a writer from the Austin American Statesman, especially Kirk Bohls. It doesn't matter how good we were in the 60s and 70s, they view our school as insignificant because they are elitists. Look how many G5 selections they have in total, 6. The P5 with the fewest, the Pac12, has more than that with 7. They have 6 on there from Nebraska alone.
  17. Strange world Commerce's head coach appears to be Don Carthel's son. I remember Don's name coming up several times during our past coaching searches.
  18. I hope he does really well and gets to transfer back to FBS. He has that level of talent, the situation just never seemed to work out here.
  19. I'll riding the rail to Mockingbird from somewhere north on 75, not sure the station yet. I'm hoping to find a Mean Green tailgate to stop by when I get to SMU that isn't $20-30 per person.
  20. It is probably best to give the students priority for the bus seats as their transportation options are likely more limited than those of the alums. Does the DART rail go from Denton to Mockingbird? I know I took it from Frisco to Mockingbird in '07.
