  1. Losing to a regional P5 doesn't hurt recruiting? Based on your rationale, we shouldn't even be in CUSA where we could lose to UTSA and Rice. Guess it is back to the Sun Belt for us, oh wait, SWTSU-SM is there. Mountain West anybody? Conversely, if we play and beat Tx State, it could only help our recruiting, no? I want to play Texas teams because it is exciting and gets more Texans (hello, our recruiting base) talking about us than beating a bad FCS school or getting smoked by a P5 team a thousand miles away.
  2. How about more NT fan attendance for one? SWTSU-SM would bring more folks to our stadium than Portland State, Liberty, and Incarnate Word combined. Also, we would take more fans to their stadium than we would to Iowa, Tennessee, Florida, and Army combined.
  3. I think it is largely based on where you are from. Longhorns from Dallas tend to hate OU and Longhorns from Houston tend to hate A&M. The rest of the state is a mixed bag.
  4. For my own selfish reasons, I wish we would play them. I live 15 minutes from their campus. If I remember correctly, we've played them in football more than we've played any other team.
  5. It seems that all you need to know is how to run the read option and throw a few swing passes and screens. We don't have a pass heavy offense because that requires a quarterback with a college-level arm. It amuses me that Mac said "does he have the biggest gun you've ever seen in college football? no." This is amuses me because if you put McNulty on a sliding scale of FBS quarterbacks he would shade heavily toward being the smallest gun.
  6. Until that University off Mockingbird Lane is shuttered for cruelty to hookers, I don't see how there is any other acceptable answer.
  7. and you've taken more snaps than he's taken.
  8. Only time you start as a true freshman quarterback here is if your dad played for Iowa in the 70s.
  9. Watching that video showed me that Greer is much better at preventing an INT return for a touchdown and should be moved ahead of McNulty on the depth chart for the SMU game. Greer is the only quarterback on the roster that has beaten SMU. He is a hard worker, plays well in practice, has intangibles, and is taller than McNulty.
  10. Seems like you are making excuses for him already. Let's be clear, the '14 was much easier than the '13 schedule. The comparison between the '13 and '15 schedules is premature. I believe you have forgotten that we played 7 bowl eligible teams in the '13 season(8 if you count UNLV). We beat 2 ten win teams that year as well. You like to write off DT as a busdriver who was lucky enough to have good defense and special teams. I will tell you this now, tomorrow, and ten years from now. I don't care if you put the Bama defense and 2013 North Texas special teams on the field for NT in 2015, McNulty will NEVER be as good a passer as DT was, NEVER. If we want to win meaningful games this season, it will not be with AM at quarterback.
  11. That article gives me football wood.
  12. I liked it but it depresses me that most of the playmakers in that video have graduated.
  13. Defense showed up against UT but just couldn't stay off the field due to atrocious quarterback play. I think watching the offense just wore them down.
  14. I would imagine he would go to juco or FCS/D2 to revive his qb career. He could go play for Kilgore or East Texas Baptist and be closer to home if he truly wants to play quarterback like he says.
  15. I assume we will be packed in to sections 126-128 and 226-228 like we were in '07. Hopefully we will have a big enough crowd where we spill out of those sections. If they promoted this game enough, we should be able to bring a crowd approaching the size of our HOD crowd. Easy access with the dart rail. We need to bring 10k+ to this game, 20k would be ideal. I'm thinking we brought between 6 and 8k in '07.
  16. 2016 will be the year we have another bowl season. I hope Mac and Canales will both be around for it. This season we will still be dealing with cloudy judgment. Our judgment will become clear again 11/29/15. That's when I will get really enthusiastic about the cuffs coming off and the winning to begin again.
  17. Roster says quarterback, coach said quarterback, turned down P5 offers to come here as a quarterback. Until Chumley himself says he is playing tight end and happy about it, I won't believe it. Darius Terrell left UT because he didn't want t be a tight end, I see Chumley doing the same.
  18. Makes sense for him to be close to his family and still have a chance to play. Wish he would've chosen the Frogs instead but they have an all-conference kicker too. SMU was the only place in the 'plex he had a chance to play. His only competition at SMUg will be two freshmen.
  19. with answers The point was that we had a tight end and 2 wide receivers with better high school stats than AJ Derby's backup(who we stole from Iowa) and those qbs did it against Texas high school talent. He was only able to "pay his dues" and "deserve his chance" because he didn't get moved to another position like some of our other quarterbacks. If they put similar investment into Caleb Chumley for four or five years, he might "deserve his chance" too. And I bet anybody on this board a beer right now that if Caleb plays his whole career with us as a quarterback, more scouts will come to see him at pro day then will care to see McNulty at his.
  20. It is amazes me that McCarney was so disgusted with Greer and Williams that he would continue to use an injured McNulty despite him not being a FBS quarterback when 100% healthy. Excuses. DT went 21 of 30 for 256yds 2tds and no ints with a busted kneecap in a Bowl game. Below is the comparison of Riley Dodge's and Andrew McNulty's junior seasons. Dodge was supposed to be a receiver that season because of ulnar nerve damage in his throwing arm. After Tune and Thompson went down, Dodge had to come in and tough it out and still has better stats(especially when you considered only 9 of those games played he was a quarterback) than a "rib-injured" McNulty. I understand different head coaches but same OC. Defense and Special Teams were equivalent or worse than last year. PASSING GP Effic Cmp-Att-Int Pct Yards TD Long Avg/G Dodge, Riley 11 134.2 106-176-4 60.2 1212 11 66 110.2 PASSING GP Effic Cmp-Att-Int Pct Yards TD Long Avg/G McNulty, Andrew 10 111.2 110-202-7 54.5 1295 6 51 129.5
