  1. I'm sorry, did Canales come from a losing program?
  2. Rick, what do the number of visits to Fouts have to do with one's opinion of Levitt?
  3. Green Mean, why is that you Mrs. Leach? Welcome to the board.
  4. TTG,with all due respect, let's look at two examples of two successful schools similar to us. Boise State and TCU were both not very successful programs. BSU had Dirk Koetter, who was an unknown, start the turnaround. He was hired away by Arizona State, I believe. Hawkins was moved up to HC and continued BSU's rise, and he was hired away by Colorado and Peterson took over and has elevated their program to where it is today. Koetter, Hawkins and Peterson were all unknowns with little to no FCS HC experience. TCU hired Fran from New Mexico. TCU's only recent success was under Wacker. Other than that, they were a struggling program. Fran started the turnaround and left for greener pastures. Patterson was elevated to HC and many were questioning the hire. Look where they are now. There is not a coach out there with HC experience, that would consider us, that excites me. Canales has taken on a downtrodden program with players that have known nothing but losing and changed that attitude in 3 weeks, has the team playing better than anyone can remember, is passionate about being here and building the program, has paid his dues as an assistant in college and the pros, has been a part of building a program from scratch, and has the fire to succeed. Who knows, he might become another Patterson and fall in love with Denton and NT and stay for the duration. To me, he is no more a risky hire than the others that have been discussed to no end on here. Fran? I am good friends with many A&M alums who have nothing good to say about the man. Plus, he has been passed over for other positions recently and is typically just in it for Fran. No thanks. Leach: Never would consider NT, ever. Plus, he is all about himself. Levitt: In a lawsuit, as is Leach, with his previous employer, and while he has built a program, is a wildcard to me. Too much baggage. If NT continues playing as they have the past two weeks, I'd be more than happy if Canales stays.
  5. Some of you are just unbelievable. Do you all really think Canales has family members posting for him on here? Really? PMG,so you are putting your support behind a disgraced ex-BCS coach that has an affinity for leaving programs for greener pastures at the drop of a hat over a qualified assistant that has extensive experience and has shown he wants to be here?
  6. PMG, to disagree with one's point is one thing, but to discredit them due to a lack of posts on this board or to call their posts full of half truths is ridiculous. Many could easily discredit an "old time fan's" hiring opinion based off of NT's track record stating we've never gotten it right. RV, hire the right man, and you will have our support. None of the names with previous HC experience excite me because they either have baggage or have been out of coaching for so long there is something wrong. Canales is very intriguing to me based upon what he has done with an injury riddled team. If he is who is chosen, we should all support him. And, if he wins, he will draw in the borderline fans. I will say this, NT hasn't had a coach with Canales personality in a long time. He obviously wants the job, he rallies the players and has beome more and more intriguing to me.
  7. Wish we played them this year. A&M is leading OU also.
  8. You have fun directing your hatred at a 20 year old playing with a broken wrist, led us to a win last week right after his Dad is fired. You can do better than that.
  9. He could be the right choice. I think he has the "it" factor.
  10. Well, the one flying it in that location obviously understands how Leach operates... "Me before team."
  11. Gee, we leave our apartment unlocked, our friends know it, they know we play football and are gone from 2pm to 8pm each day, they know we are too stupid to put our money in a bank, etc...and we are surprised we were burglarized. REALLY?
  12. Let's go, the Troy gal is currently winning.
  13. All replies in this thread require photos. Here's the one she left me recently: Younger days: Goodness:

  15. Yep, beautiful girl. As for Mav's dancer type moves...these are college young ladies not strippers.
  16. We all want to use Boise State as an example to follow when turning our program around. Boise hired Dirk Koetter in 1998 to begin the turnaround. Koetter's job prior to being HC at BSU? OC at Oregon. Houston hired Art Briles, RB coach for TTech, to start their turn around. Kansas State hired Bill Snyder, Iowa OC, to revive their program. These are three very good examples of programs that were perenial losers that didn't go after a "name" coach with previous HC experience to lead them from the darkness. They hired the best coach they thought they could and put resources behind changing the culture of the program.
  17. Keep the same shade of green, do to a green helmet with a white SOW on it and keep it forever. It is time to get rid of the Southlake uniforms. Oh, and add helmet stickers.
  18. She and the ULL girl are the best by far with Alabama a close third.
  19. Not sure where you think Sumlin coached but here is his career bio: 88-90 Washington State graduate assistant 91-92 Wyoming WR coach 93-96 Minnesota WR coach 1997 Minnesota QB coach 98-00 Purdue WR coach 01-02 Texas A&M Assistant/OC 03-05 Oklahoma Special Teams/TE's coach 06-07 Oklahoma WR/Co-OC 08-present Head Coach at Houston. I would argue also that Sumlin has improved upon what Briles started and has UH recruiting better than ever. I am intrigue by Canales and think he should be given a fair shot at the position. All of the former HC's listed have some type of baggage they are dragging around, and there is a reason some are not currently coaching. Here is Canales bio: 1985-86 Brigham Young University Graduate Assistant - Quarterbacks 1987-94 Snow College Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks C oach 1995 Pacific Quarterbacks Coach 1996-2000 University of South Florida Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach 2001-2002 North Carolina State Quarterbacks Coach /Passing Game Coordinator 2003 New York Jets Wide Receivers Coach 2004-2006 University of Arizona Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach 2007-2009 University of South Florida Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach
  20. I would hope they would apply for everyone. Then again, we aren't in a Big Six Conference and they would all be denied anyway.
  21. Considering all of the injuries we have suffered this year, will NT request redshirts for all of these players, or those that want one? Does anyone have any information on this?
