  1. This UNT team is definitely in the hunt, not doubt about that, and and that is what we should be celebrating and be focused on. However, comparisons to TCU, SMU and UTA are irrelevant. If we are thinking about coaches, we should compare to the Sun Belt. Specifically Jarvis, Brady, Arrow and MacDonald. In the long run our future depends on how we do against them, not how out stats compare to those of TCU and SMU.
  2. Six years but can serve more than one term.
  3. Unless there is something different this year, all seats are gen admission.
  4. Our finishing schedule is favorable. Competition for the 3rd seed from the West Div is ULL (4 losses) and Denver (5). We get both at home and ULL has a tough finishing schedule: four of six on the road. MTSU lead the East with four losses and they would have the tie breaker against us. We have the tie breaker on everyone else in contention. MTSU has a challenging schedule remaining and the East is really up for grabs. First order of business is to take care of business and finish no worse than at 5 losses. Second is for MTSU to either win their division or finish with more than 5 losses. We have our chance but still need help from MTSU.
  5. Not only did Hurley not have much of a choice, the fan base did not care. There was little or no protest about moving down when the plan was made public.
  6. Right on. As of now, with Dominque and Kedrick out, we are getting nothing from our bench. Making it even tougher to win more than 3 games in a few days.
  7. Yeah, they will take on the BCS. Like they took on health care. So Congress will looking into it? Remember that states like Alabama and Ohio and Michigan and Florida, et al, have senators, too.
  8. I am curious why you think JJ will be fired if he loses this game?
  9. He also struggled the first 18 games of his senior year. He began the year playing 14-18 mins a game, that quickly went down and he played less than 10 a game for more than half the season. It wasn't until late Jan that he began to earn more playing time. The info can be found on the UNT web site. JJ tried to turn him loose early, but he did not respond and his playing time went drastically down. I can't put a guy on the all-decade team when he played a few good games at the end of his junior year and a few more at the end of his senior year.
  10. A guy who is out of a job due to a coaching change might take it on a one-year basis.
  11. McCoy was didn't play many minutes because he played poorly until the last half of his senior season. For 8 games or so, he was great.
  12. One more thought: Josh ahead of Kendrick at the 2 guard position. Josh is the best offensive player we have ever had, if he were 6-1 he would be at Kansas or somewhere like that, and Josh is not a PG. Nothing against Kendrick, our go-to guy for a couple of years. But Josh is special.
  13. Very good. Personally I would put Wooden over Johnson because Wooden had a more offensive game. Johnson had one move, plus following up on offensive rebounds.
  14. Actually, if J'mision still has dreams of getting into the NBA, likely his best chance is to get an agent and play in Europe.
  15. Tough to show his stuff there? Morgan has had two years to show his stuff at a program that routinely produces NBA players, Howland has sent 3 of his recruits (Love Westbrook and Collison) and a couiple of Lavin's recruits to the NBA in 5 seasons. The only rational conclousion is that Morgan isn't playing because he hasn't earned the time, and he has not earned his time in a down year (UCLA is 6-8 to date). This thread appears to be generated purely on speculation and "want to". Is there some evidence that he is considering a transfer? Or is this totally a pipe dream? A speculation for fun? You guys have fonder memories of his dad than I do. At UNT Morgan had a strong 1st year then got fat and lazy. Hopefully J'mision has not followed in his father's footsteps in that respect but it is fair to be suspicious.. Now, could he help UNT if he transferred? Sure, we need the size and depth.
  16. It was the other guy who invented journalism.
  17. I guess if we knew it would not be a surprise, would it. Have a little patience.
  18. Josh is not a point guard, he is a 2-guard in a point guard's body. He is nowhere near Dominique as a point.
  19. So you figure we will win when we play them at their place in Feb?
  20. Per Rivals, Downing had an offer from Norlthern Illinois and McCord, an offer from W Carolina (FCS). Rivals had no offers for the other three.
  21. WWII museum is a must see. On Magazine Street, as I recall. Reserve half a day.
  22. UNT is playing on Sunday on both 13th and 20th. The Pit is being used for commencement on the 18th and 19th, forcing any home game that weekend to be on the 20th. My bet would be that the Pit is also being used for some other UNT function on the 12th, hence any home game is pushed to the 13th. Now why we couldn't trade dates with ULM and FIU (yes, we do play them twice) playing them at their place in Dec and at ours later in the year is a mystery.
  23. Some interesting numbers: Student fees $4.6 million. Paid by university (coaches salaries) $2.9 mil Raised from alum and public: $1.7 mil (ticket sales and contributions) As has been the case in the past, the athletic program is supported principally by the students and the university.
