  1. Other schools have not been standing still and have added highly rated recruits in the spring signing period jsut as we have. We may or may not be rated better, the same, or not as highly when the spring signings are incorporated. Just curious.
  2. The 31st ranking was based on the fall signing period and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. Has anyone seen how we are rated now? Mitchell won't be included since, as I understand it, he has not signed a LOI.
  3. That is true if the Belt is the extent of your aspirations. But if you want to be a Butler or VCU, or even a Morehead, George Mason, or Old Dominion, you need effective size. On the other hand, if all you want is a 15 seed, never mind.
  4. Edwards committed a foul on average every four minutes. Maybe it was because of his knees, maybe not, but his footwork was bad on defense, which led to reach-ins. If he can't improve on that he won't be on the floor enough to help.
  5. Keep in mind that is ESPN talking, not Mizzou.
  6. Mine is a shambles. Still have my final 4, though, which means something. Maybe.
  7. Intersting. What I saw was many excellent defenses which were often physical, taking offenses out of their games.
  8. What you might tell Scott Drew is that Kansas, Kst, TxA&M, Missouri, Colorado all had as many or more bigs (6-8 plus) than did Baylor. If there us a message there it is not that Baylor had too many, but other than Jones, he had the wrong ones.
  9. As for the 4-5 positions, we have Knox. Edwards and Robinson, a frosh who is a face-the-bucket guy not a back-to-the-bucket guy and we may have Mitchell - or maybe not. Hogans is the only proven commodity and he is hardly a big. So we have only one guy who we know can play and he is only 6-7, two who have yet to prove they can handle extended minutes, a freshman, and an academic question. Am I missing someone? Maybe I am. If not, we need bigs. You never have too many bigs.
  10. no to Trice, we need size. Yes to the other three.
  11. Yeah, I just read that elsewhere. Apparently this is not a final decision but if our scheduling is an indication, that is the way the conf is leaning.
  12. At some point in time USA comes into the league and we will have only 3 OOC games. Not sure when but maybe 2014.
  13. Of course teams are pointing toward us. Just like every year in every sport, the reigning champ is a target. What is most important is that we don't play defense. To borrow a phrase, shooting comes and goes, defense is a constant. If we play defense, we handle these teams with lesser talent.
  14. Also keep in mind that the MWC tv contract does not extend into this market. An aside: what's up with Plum? All of a sudden, a dose of realism?
  15. actually I have to disagree. This game will come down to whether or not we play defense. if you watched the Troy game on 360 you know our defense was sorely lacking in effort and effectiveness. If we play the defense we CAN play we win. If not .....
  16. It is not the end of the world and we could win the SBC tournament. Still we hoped this would be a better team than we have had in the past, and in fact it is just like past teams: losing games to teams which have no business being on the same court with us, erratic to poor defense, etc. This team, if it wins the Belt, will be no better than a 15 seed and chances are very good we will be a 16. And no 16 has ever won a game. Winning the belt was not my goal, winning the belt in such a way as to get a 12 or 13 seed was my goal. Won't happen. I will attend all home games and will be in Hot Springs, but I am disappointed.
  17. The MWC has Air Force, ColoSt, SD State, LV and NM. This is hardly a glorified WAC, it is much more.
  18. The Canales offense in the last half of the season was built around Dunbar. Expect more of the same.
  19. And since then Auburn has beaten 11 win Florida State.
  20. I don't know about gamblers, but MTSU can go big and Kermit Davis can control the pace of a game with his brand of ugly ball. Just looking at their results they are wildly inconsistent, playing Auburn tough at Auburn and losing to a couple of nobodies. While being 5-9 overall they are 3-3 at home. We can win but this to me is a scary game w/o George.
  21. having been to LSU and seen how the game traffic affects nearby housing I have some sympathy for the residents. You are basically either trapped in your house or shut out of returning to your house for hours. I am told that market value of houses in that area are markedly lower than other like houses in Baton Rouge. We are not LSU and there won't be 91,000 people going thru Denia but on the other hand there are more outlets from Tiger Stadium. The Denia problem is one I am sympathetic with. It is easy to be critical of the residents when it is now your home which is affected. Not that much can be done about it. But being unhappy and seeking solutions is understandable.
  22. Interesting matrix. Only 7 of the 22 polls used had us at 14 or better, 15 had us at 15 or worse including 10 which had us not in the tournament. Interesting, I suppose.
