  1. Rogers is the only point guard we have at the moment that can push the ball the way JJ wants us to. He can be inconsistent though, and that's when you see Roniger, who played great tonight as well. Great game from both our point men. Baylor had two big runs- one to open the game and another to come back from the big lead we had on them. Both runs were predicated on sloppy basketball and bad passes from NT. We played smart the rest of the game and it was good enough. We caught fire tonight from downtown. We always knew that Leonard and Jerome could knock it down from outside, but isn't it great to see the team clicking like that? I was proud of the way we played defense tonight, it was at the intensity level we did not see very much last year, but saw it alot the year before. I was starting to worry that Jermaine Green was the heart of the team, but other guys stepped up in his place and I would like to say GREAT JOB to WILL SMITH. Hustling everywhere, going balls out on defesne, just what this team needs. The crowd that was there really got into the game and gave our guys a lift. If you missed the game, you missed a helluva time. BIG thanks to DoubleEagle for letting me use his tickets to see my buddy play. Robbie had a foul, rebound, and airball . He made it this far though, and that is amazing enough itself. Baylor is hurting, and they will be back, make no mistake about it.
  2. There was a Greek Nite last year. They all left at halftime.
  3. When did NAIA go to non-ship? Yeah the team has being going through rough times lately, there is no doubt about that. But in having a well rounded university and well rounded athletic department, men's basketball needs to be on the forefront of the action, it is the second most important sport to football for any AD. I hear stories from my dad about a packed Snake Pit and a packed Super Pit to watch great teams play for the University, and it really sucks that I haven't got to see that. I will someday as an alumni though, well will get it turned around sometime. I just hope that some of you who donate so much time and money to football even when the chips are down would at least throw basketball a bone. I know this is football and this is Texas, but the basketball team is a VERY visible part of our beloved school and needs support just like any other aspect of North Texas.
  4. The point guard situation is interesting. Jerome can hit from anywhere, but can be streaky. He can handle the ball as well as anyone in the conference, but he is so small he can't finish on his own, which leads to defenders giving him a chance to drive in oder to take away his shot. And as fast as he is, and he gets out on the break so well, but just isn't big enough to finish it off against guys he is giving up several inches or a foot too. Roniger isn't especially fast, and doesn't push the ball nearly like Jerome does. He is strong, and can do something in the lane unlike Jerome. He plays with a lot of fire and determination, but can hurt the team when speed and offense are needed (a lot on this team). John Franklin isn't eligible yet, but his first game will be against TCU. He is very strong like Roniger, and is just a basketball player. He will get a chance to have the job I'm sure (hell if they gave Boxell a shot last year, they better), and what he does with that chance could have an impact on the team. Marqus Mitchell is small, but an amazing leaper and athlete. I don't think JJ wants him bringing it up on offense, or maybe just not quite yet. The inconsistency at point guard can be a huge problem and lead to turnovers, one of these guys needs to step up and not necessarily fill up the stat sheet, but play solid smart ball. They all have strengths that can help team. Look at the bright side (because looking at the dark side is no way to live life): Leonard Hopkins will get back into playing shape and provide a rare 3 point threat, maybe more. Michael Jones will continue to improve and he has size and skills to do something. Shawnson Johnson will be eligible soon, and be back from surgery later and he will probably become our best player immediately. Adrian Awasom will be through with football soon, and if nothing else, we could knock the crap outta some people. Sidenote: Is this what you wanted Cerebus?
  5. If I ever feel like a nerd, I will come back to this thread and realize that other than Yoda, I have no idea what the hell yall are talking about.
  6. I'm always there. Not wearing the hat though, just isn't the same at basketball games.
  7. I may rent both of them and see which one I like. I wish NCAA Football had year round recruiting. It would give you something to do in between games, like Madden has with the owner mode.
  8. Is that game any good? My favorite game with no competition is NCAA Football, but I have heard March Madness sucks. How does it compare to NBA Live?
  9. Yes, it was NC, on March 17th. UNC won 83-65 2000 point scorers: Kenneth Lyons 2,291 Last season: 1982-83 Chris Davis 2,254 Last season: 2002-03 Jesse Ratliff 2,130 Last season: 1993-94
  10. In the 7th grade I played a basketball game in a gym with walls close behind the basket. I broke both bones in my right leg, and still have a plate in there. Let's not play there.
  11. Ouch! This was the first women's game I have missed since I have been going here. Too bad the football game fell on the same night. Everyone needs to come out and support these ladies at least once this season, they represent our school too...who knows, you might have fun and find yourself coming back!
  12. The negative things said about him on here discouraged me, and I don't even know him! Not only that, but by being one of the few who didn't bash him, I was somehow labled "anti-Hall" and got the correlating not so friendly emails. Andrew has done nothing but good for our University and doesn't get the recognition for it he deserves. I want Andrew to stay, but if he has his reasons, I understand. Like I said earlier, seems we were hearing the same stuff about Scott Hall last year, so hopefully this turns out much the same.
  13. I really hope this is just a rumor. Andrew has shown more heart than he gets credit for, and led our team to a bowl win for the first time in a couple years. Hopefully this is just a rumor like the Scott Hall transfer rumor last year.
  14. Shawnson Johnson will be eligible December 13 (against TCU) along with John Franklin, but Johnson will be out for a little longer with his hernia injury. And it has been posted that the AD will bring Cuban up for the game via the million dollar bus (an idea you heard right here first ), and I hope we wine and dine him more than we have any other donor. Mark's a cool guy. If you e-mail him talking up the game, he will probably write back. I have sent him about a dozen emails since he became owner and he has wrote back every time. I have also got to shoot the bull with him more than once before and after Mavs games, it's amazing how down to earth he is considering his wealth. He is one of the few "real" fans that happen to own a team. I hope he comes and has a good time, maybe writes a couple of checks while he is at it. They can bring more than that! I don't care if the Super Pit is mostly red, they bought tickets, a hot dog and a soft drink, and helped sell out the Super Pit in quite a while, I will thank them for coming.
  15. We had 1,000 for the home opener, we will take a sell out any way it comes.
  16. That was very pointless. It was like the 2001 NMSU thing, except our own school did it to us. The reasons NWOS stayed with us was because Barnett could not take advantage of his height, and they let NWOS dicate the tempo of the game. When we went to a 3 guard lineup, the talent differential really showed up. Hot three point shooting from the Rangers and poor free throw shooting by NT also played big parts. I think we will be OK, but not playing like we did last night, that's for sure.
  17. We do have more talent this year than at least the last three, IMHO.
  18. Is that Hubie Brown? Not just upside, not just potential, but upside potential.
  19. Some good plays tonight by the Mean Green, tough to guage because the opponent wasn't that great. John Franklin also did not play, he will be eligible to play guard starting with the Dec. 13th @ TCU game. He's a great guy and has been wokring hard to make the team for three years.
  20. Seriously? I suggested we take Mark Cuban as a guest of the university once I found out we had the million dollar bus. Whichever athletic employee that read my idea and went after it can just leave floor seats for me for that game as thanks.
  21. I think the turnout will be very good. Would some of you NT Exes be interested in a pre or post game party somewhere? I could get one in the works within the week in conjunction with the Student Chapter. Maybe that could help get a few more out to the game that are fence sitters.
  22. I'm so ready for basketball. I'm even ready for the high school season, Callisburg is state ranked (led by JayDub's cousin).
  23. A frat started by a former student and an NCTC student? Yeah, they can take Talons. Seriously, I could not agree more with AustinTalon in his assesment. A new spirit organization would be great, do the math: more spirit orgs = more spirited students = a good thing
