  1. I'm with Zeke. Once they got wet they were very dark. I thought silver was a good idea, but it really wasn't silver. They might as well have gone with black with the sparkly "watermark" things stitched in like the Magic had until this season, it would have looked better.
  2. Nothing was better than hearing that the Marlins beat the Yankees after we beat Little Middle. A good day for sports in general. Way to go Pudge.
  3. My best friend from high school, and groomsman come May, made the Baylor basketball squad. It will be very strange to see him in uniform when they visit the Super Pit this year. In case you are wondering, his name is James (Robbie) McKenzie and will make the Callisburg Wildcat Nation proud if he gets some PT.
  4. Well all I can say is I thought that Scottie was the Mavs toughest critic. Even he says this move will put them in position to win a title.
  5. Third best in the Midwest? Fifth best in the West? Seriously, do you wanna put money that they will finish better than that? We can shake on it at the next home game. Name the price. You can say "Who is going to stop....." all you want, and those players may have big games. But who on the Lakers is going to stop what the Mavs have? The Spurs? The Rockets? We are talking five all-stars that can score 40 points at any time, and Delk who is a reserve, has had FIFTY before. Top to bottom, this is the best offensive team in the league, and here is the bottom line: This team won 60 games and went to the West Finals last season. They are significantly better now.
  6. The Mavs send LaFrentz, Welsh, and Mills for Walker and Delk. Mavs new probable lineup: PG: Nash - Best - Delk SG: Finley - Delk - Howard SF: Jamison - Howard - Wahad PF: Walker - Najera - Fortson C: Nowitzki - Fortson - Bradley That starting five is just killer. I can't wait for the season now. And the reserves are solid as well. Look for Howard to contribute a lot this rookie season, maybe not in scoring, but in rebounds and defense. The good thing about the starting five is not just TONS of offense, but also very good rebounders in Dirk, Jamison, and Walker...Finley isn't bad for his position either.
  7. Sometimes when a new and different looking uniform comes out, people reject it because it is something they aren't used to. I try not to say every uniform that has any little unique thing about it is ugly. I even kinda like the new Oregon unis (the all-white and the green with yellow NOT the all-yellow). Obviously I am much more open minded about uni's than pretty much everyone I know. With that being said, that sweater is pretty damn ugly.
  8. My bad, I had to be at the NT Exes tent at that time, then I was at the ceremony, all the stuff kinda ran together.
  9. I wish the mid-day madness was not at the same time as the NT Exes groundbreaking at the Gateway center. Who won the dunk contest, and who did well in the scrimmage?
  10. Boone just hit the home run, and the cameras went to Jeter. Sorry CMJ. Here's hoping Pudge and the Marlins beat the living crap out of the evil empire.
  11. First in the NFC East, and after beating Philly for the first time after a 6 loss drought, it's almost safe to say the Boys are for real. It's simply amazing what Bill Parcells has done so quickly. He brought in a major change in attitide, and his attention to detail has the team prepared for anything, and therefore confident in what they can do.
  12. Anyone but the Yankees. You gotta pull for Pierre though. He is 6'0 180 (both generous listings), and stole 65 bases batting leadoff while playing a solid defensive CF. That's my kind of player. I wish the Rangers had someone like that. I also really want Pudge to get that ring and stake his claim as the best catcher of all-time.
  13. It was an easy 50 bucks for something I would have been doing anyway. Seriously, if Andrew did something ilegal, I believe he would have gotten arrested, recieved a citation or anything at all. The fact that he didn't tells me he did not break the law. Was he in the wrong place at the wrong time? Obviously. Is that ilegal or make him a person of questionable character? No way. Why are we talking about Drew when Andy is the one that actually had charges filed on him? If Drew punched someone in the face and had charges pressed on him, this thread would have 700 replies by now. Drew's incident is bad judgement, something we have all been guilty of, but nothing more. If it were something ilegal, he would be in the same boat as Brewster, or more than likely worse.
  14. What did Dupree do again? Sit in a truck late at night?
  15. What idiot climbs in the back of someone's truck and fires off shots with an officer nearby? A drunk one I guess. I don't know what I would do in Andrew's situation there. A guy you don't know in your truck firing shots. It's not like you can go back there and pull an Andy Brewster on him.
  16. He can throw the deep ball very well, can take off, can improvise and is gutsy, but has problems with short passes at times because he is throwing it 100 miles per hour and gets excited early in a game and has balls sail on him in the first quarter. Sound familiar? Before you write off Quincy, remember this is an exact description of Brett Favre and he has done OK. In the NFL today, you have to have a quarterback that manages the game, makes a play if necessary, but doesn't lose it for you. If you think that Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, or Tom Brady are anything more than that, then you don't watch football. If Quincy keeps improving, he can easily be that type of quarterback. Pay attention Cowboy fans: Troy Aikman is gone. There may never be another like him. There isn't a Troy Aikman in league today, so stop expecting his clone to suddenly appear. Quincy Carter can do the job required of a winning team in the NFL today, and thank God we have a coach that will let him blossom into that player. Bruce Coslet's love affair with the stiff and uncoordinated Hutchinson set Quincy back in both development and confidence, I'm glad he's way the hell outta Dallas and we have Parcells, Payton, and Carthon, making Quincy better.
  17. I just walked from the bus stop across from the union to the PEB and back and never broke a sweat, what a welcome change. It is truly fall now, and it just smells like football when you go outside. I wish I had practice today. Does it get any better than football season/fall in Texas?
  18. I don't know because Cuban goes the extra mile for fans, and the Mavs crowd has turned wine and cheese (not nearly like the Boys yet). I think it's more telling of the fairweather fans we have up here. The Reunion Rowdies are long gone...
  19. It took my mom a while to forgive them for letting Tom Landry go, but she eventually did. I don't think it's been the same for her since either.
  20. Yes, there are many bandwagon jumpers that style themselves Cowboys fans when it is the "in" thing to do, as is evidenced by this very thread (and yes Rudy, "taking a break" counts, and once you publicly announce you are now cheering for the Texans, you are not a Cowboys fan). However, the Cowboys have a large and loyal following, of which I am one. I have stood and will stand by the Boys, Rangers and Mavs no matter what thier record is, and those of you on this board who have tried to take shots at any of them know how fast I came to thier defense. I even defend the Rangers...nuff said. Nothing blew my mind like when I would go to Mavs games a few years ago, buy 5 buck tickets and sit on the front row, yet had to camp out overnight for the very same seats once they made the playoffs. D/FW fans are as fairweather as they come (possibly on LA worse?), and sometimes I am embarassed to be considered one. Even North Texas fans should know this (that D/FW only loves a winner). But to say that Cowboy fan = oymoron is a little bit of an overstatment or this thread would have died long ago when nobody cared someone dared compare a second year franchise to the greatest ever. The Cowboys have a loyal fan base though Rudy is clearly not one of them. The good part of a team sucking and the bandwagon is clearing out is you can take a look around and see who is on the bandwagon and have a smile. It also make the good times that much more worth it. I remember when the Cowboys and Mavs sucked WAY back in my childhood and I would still stay up all hours to watch every game with my parents (my mom watched every Rangers game in it's entirety this year unless there was a UNT game that day). The smile won't be there when people like Rudy host Super Bowl parties when the Boys are back in it, and the real fans will be a little upset with how many Boys fans there suddenly are. Guess it's just the way things are around here. I kinda wish D/FW fans were like Chicago fans, but that will never happen.
  21. The NFL is a business and you can't hold cutting Don a personal thing against them. He could have chose some other teams that did not have such a good young secondary and would have had a better chance of making the team. He wanted to be a Cowboy and took that risk. I don't understand your comment about signing a good CB, with Ross back after the bye week, there will be 3/4's of a secondary that are rookies or second year players and all have pro-bowl if not all-nfl potential. (With the other having his place in the Ring of Honor secure.) Funny post.
  22. Any team in the world on any level could use another talented 6'11 player. I don't care who we bring in as long as they can play some basketball, we need talent before we can get picky on how tall they are.
  23. Alright, I made a league and didn't know if there was anyone that wanted to play. CMJ and UNTFan are the usual suspects though. It's at Yahoo! Fantasy Sports, custom league #16530 the password is gmg If you have anyone that doesn't post on gmg.com that wants to play, invite them.
  24. Armstrong also said that Turco was "poor" in the playoffs. That comment and not getting Turco signed before JS Giguere signed his made things a lot harder than they should be for the Stars. NTEagle, do you want to be in a fantasy hockey league?
