Yeah, soapbox, whatever, that's a hoot. I'm still grateful for the ride up from obscurity for our program, and I hope to see Coach make a full recovery and return.

I would like to add my sincere thanks for the many good times that came from watching the Mean Green win 4 straight Conference titles and appear in 4 straight Bowl games. We've obviously got a few on this board that believe those accomplishments meant nothing and that this program has hit rock-bottom. I'm very confident that as this season plays out, they will be proven fools, just as they were in 2001. And 2002. And so on. May God contunue to give you the strength to persevere this new challenge.

Quite a few people are under this misconception. By this argument, OU would be higher regarded academically than Rice, and we would be higher perceived academically than Harvard. People would be hired or fired on Mondays as their academic credentials changed over the weekend.

Well put. I didn't see any fans running onto the field to celebrate victories in the late 90's. I'm very glad we have fans that give a s... and are willing to invest their energies and emotions on Saturdays without reservation or agendas. People that use Dickey-hate to denigrate fans' exuberance over a hard-fought emotional win are no friends of this program. Dislike the offense ? OK, fine. We all know it needs some more work. What about the game played thru 7 OT's by the defense ? not worthy ?

Agreed. We were calling it the "drunken" fight song, and it MUST STOP. NOW. I'm all for creative experimentation, but sometimes ya just gotta recognize a failed bit and move on.
