  1. What time do the Anheuser-Busch and Miller operations shut down ? (relative to game time)
  2. Don't underestimate the effect of being a travel partner only 30 miles from SMU, near DFW airport. Doesn't matter in football, but it sure will in every other sport. And in those other sports, facilities either already are or will shortly become a strength. All that's left is Stadium plus baseball.
  3. Why wouldn't he play the second half ? It's a big game.
  4. Those were pushups ? I have been in Uncle Sam's military for nigh 24 years now. I have seen pushups. I have done pushups. I have ordered others to do pushups. Sir, those were NO pushups. As I recall, they were getting regularly pwned and scoreboarded by the cheerleaders. But at least I now know their proper name. We always just referred to them as the "Brylcreem Boyz".
  5. La Madeleine must've been a hopping place that day.
  6. Sadly, it looks like the days TT paying us to come out to Lubbock and kick their ass are over.
  7. Don't Mess With Texas Poll to determine slogan to go into some sort of advertising shrine hall-of-fame thingy. "Don't Mess With Texas" is competing with Burger King's "HaveIt Your Way", among other famous advertising slogans. Rock the Vote.
  8. 1. The coaches (by way of the rules committee) make and edit the rules. 2. The rules were designed to shorten the game by 5-8 plays. 3. On changes of possession, the referee winds the clock on the ready whistle, which he sounds when the OFFICIALS (including chain crew) are ready. Just like when the offense gains a first down in-bounds. The umpire has already spotted the ball when the ready is given. 4. The biggest effect will come late in the halves. A team rallying will have less time to do so. Their offense will have to haul ass to get on the field and save time after gaining possession. 5. On kickoffs, the change is minimal, usually 4-5 seconds. One big effect is that more time will elapse during as onside kick.
  9. one more thing....the deadline is Wednesday, since there is a Thursday Night game this week.
  10. Dangit, I knew that. Doh! ID is 17315 password is "albino" And it is harder than it looks. Especially since week one is known for upsets.
  11. I've created a "Survival Football" yahoo group. You can find it at the Yahoo Fantasy Football area. Group ID is "Mean Green" and password is "albino" To play, you simply pick one NFL winner a week. Yes, that's right, just one. Get it right, you "survive" until next week. Get it wrong, and um, well, the tribe has spoken. Time for you to go. Last one left wins. The big catch ? You can only pick a given NFL team ONCE. For the entire contest. If it ends quickly, say in 4-5 weeks, I can reset it and do it again. Let's see who knows their NFL.
  12. This is Fox we're talking about. What of any of their media offerings screams "credibility" ? The Simpsons probably tops the list.
  13. Keep the situation in context... NT has just driven the field on your starting defense to make it 28-7. They followed that up with forcing your offense into a 3-and-out. The last thing you want is NT to score again and get any semblance of momentum and starting to think they are in the game. It was a gutsy move, and an excellent call at the time.
  14. "If you don't want the other team to run up the score, stop letting their ass in the end zone !" - Greg "The Hammer" Williams
  15. What about the equally endangered Fry Street Squirrel? Hard to believe the Save Fry St folks aren't on this.
  16. I used a "rabbit ears" for awhile in Denton (Gazebo) and received 2,4,5,8,11,12 (Sherman),13, and most of the UHF's. Did have to manipulate the thing quite a bit, though. 4 was the worst.
  17. I disagree with the relevance. Consider where this program might be today if the better team that night would have won. For UT, McWilliams might not have lasted the weekend. How would the rest of 88 and 89 (some of their worst years in decades) have turned out then ? For us, a return to 1-A would probably have happened sooner than it did (95). It's not a stretch to realize what would have happened to recruiting back then. Remember the buzz the wins in Lubbock generated. Multiply that many times. A moment like that comes along very rarely for programs like ours, some never see one at all.
  18. The real tragedy here is that the Field Judge, whose responsibility is the goal line and sideline, attempts to make the Back Judge's call (who was in excellent position). Only possible explanation is the UT sideline had been on his ass all game (very likely, especally considering how the game was going). Back Judge should have grown a pair also and called him off. Perhaps he was a (SWC) rookie. Like Colorado's (and Nebraska's) "fifth down", this play isn't discussed much, for obvious reasons.
  19. Did we ever find out who was giving us our "mystery" vote in the Coaches' Poll in 2002-2003 ? I remember some thought it was DD, some thought another SBC coach, I thought it was one of our OOC opponent coaches hoping to boost their SoS for the BCS poll.
  20. That might explain some of the game plans last year.
  21. MUTS still wouldn't be able to stop the running game. the right side OL of Lineberry and Zuniga would be unstoppable. Rotate JT, PC (and maybe even KG) to keep them fresh....and Marks & Co will watch at least 40 minutes of the game from the sideline.
