  1. This is what we were told at a recent visit. They aren't right by the stadium and should affect tailgates lots. But they are big and will seem close to the stadium anyway. It will look cool and be very different, and another unique thing about this great stadium.
  2. Just how big is the Eagle? Does anyone have the measurements? I hope it's a least the 3rd biggest logo on a field in the state of texas.
  3. I'm only in Dallas, but I should be working. Only 80 miles round trip. Guess that would make me an 80 out of 100 on the dorkometer. Now, I'm disappointed I'm not a bigger dork.
  4. How big a dork am I that I want to drive to Denton to see it right now?
  5. Obviously not or we wouldn't have this thread, or the countless others with topics about adding removing colors, or displaying their craptastic new interlocking NT they made or if we should use North Texas vs. UNT or with avatar's that have their specially designed logo on the helmet they made and on and on...
  6. Best: Utah State 1997. Amazing ending. Worst: FIU 7 OT game. It refused to end.
  7. Just to clear this up so people don't think we have people in an A line that don't perform because the music dept. is snobby or something. Back in the day (80's) the drumline started competing nationally and winning every year. So the group grew to where there were two lines. The A-Line was the competition line and only did a few games and the B line was the understudies and would fill in when the A line got to competition time. Later this changed to where the A-Line is a separate performing group that does tours and other things with the school of music. The A-line no longer plays in the halftime show. But as was greentimer says, some of those players do play in the line with the marching band. They do this because either they want too, or need the credits as music ed majors must be in marching band 3 years. SO there is overlap but it's two different groups. Think like the Schools' Wind Ensemble. it's the top performing band at the school. Some of those players are also in Marching Band, but it's two separate things.
  8. I was told tonight will have free adult beverages with something called Meantini's and a DJ. Doesn't sound like sit down to me.
  9. The reason the drumline had different uniforms, was because there were too many people in the band and not enough uniforms to go around. As for mocking the alma mater, most of those people are more loyal about UNT than majority of students. If you didn't notice at the last game last year we had an alumni band perform. of the about 150 people that performed, almost half were drummers.
  10. Fun fact for you, the UTA drumline is taught by a UNT grad. Not true. It was sort of true for awhile when the drumline got so famous that we had too many drummers for them all to perform at once and we split them into two lines. There was a competition line that only did a few games and a second line that did the rest.
  11. Don't forget to honk your horn the whole way and yell Go Mean Green!
  12. I'd say you're half right. The problem isn't offense. The problem is defense. Nearly every trip down the floor in the 2nd half ULM had a wide open shot. It was difficult to find a possession when they didn't get a wide open shot. I mean wide open. And ULM managed to put up 4 maybe 5 airballs in the 2nd half alone. How do you lose to a team that shoot 4 airballs in a half? Keep letting them shoot uncontested shots. It was the worst defense since Trilli ball, and maybe the worst I've ever seen at an NT game.
  13. Problem is, it looks like this will be our 1st game, but not theirs.
  14. What a great day. Next's years team is going to be extremely athletic.
  15. Grabbing players with Big 12 offers is sweet, but with SEC offers is super-sweet.
  16. The difference is, talk is cheap. In the past it was always just talk. Now we are actually building things and supporting them. So people know it's not B.S.
  17. Everyone knows when those guys sign with a big-time program like UNT their star rating goes up, but as soon as they sign with us... oh wait..
  18. Agreed. Less than 6 home games is very bad for everyone. the team, the fans.
  19. Pretty weird to be confirmed resigned, but to not be confirmed employed somewhere.
  20. Are there fence sitter fans on this board? I wouldn't think so. Also, have we really lost that many fans in 15 years. It seems to me we have more fans now than ever. How else do you explain relatively good attendance during the worst run in history? And I'm like you, I was already giving more than was comfortable. I guess I just now feel like it's worth it, which makes me want to figure out a way to do more. Which I didn't think 1 month ago.
  21. I really cannot believe all of the news of experienced coaches making decent money at my alma mater. For so long it always felt like donating to the school was a bad decision because the school didn't really care. The leadership, the financial commitment, the decisions that were made were always made with what seemed to be in the spirit of - well we have to do something so how can we do it as cheaply as possible but not make that too obvious. Well, this last few weeks have proven that things are different. I mean even the stadium had me only so fired up. It was going to be great to have a beautiful venue to watch games, but if we still treated everything else like an obligation, then it would only take us so far. For years I've read on here we were a sleeping giant. I always thought we weren't because I never expected the kind of change we've seen to happen. I know that's what a sleeping giant was, I just didn't get caught up in it. Now it is apparent that if I support the program, I will be rewarded with support from the school. It's not throwing my money away. I've always given to the school cause I'm loyal, and that's just the way I am. My question to all of you is, now that things have changed, how will that affect your involvement financial or otherwise? I'm not trying to call people out or anything just wondering, now that you can't really blame your lack of giving on the school, what do you plan to do?
  22. Just read Emmitt's post and the comments he got from RV about the decision makers above him. Oh well, then I feel sorry for RV. Because he probably would have hired Canales since he does wear his emotions on his sleeve, which Is what makes him great for NT.
