If we’re dropping eight into coverage and the quarterbacks for UNLV and UTSA are running wild, then Bennett is not doing his job. The defense needs to work in tandem. Why they were able to in some games (WKU) and not others, I don’t know. But by 2004 or 2013 standards, this front seven needs work.

I hope you’re right and the secondary has issues but it’s tough when the secondary does its job and the QB runs for a first down on third and 15.

The front seven needs a size and talent upgrade. We don’t know if we have a QB on the roster. Gotta replace the senior person of the OL. Besides Shorter, how good are our WRs. Isn’t Mooney a senior? There are good pieces but this roster is not AAC ready.

I was thrilled when we hired DMac and then even pre-Portland State I would've volunteered to drive him back to Iowa so yeah I pretty much stayed out of the pre-hiring debates.

Living in the PNW I saw a few WSU games and they definitely didn't run a Leach-style Air Raid but who knows if the head coach determined that. Ward could be explosive one game and more pedestrian the next. Definitely a play-caller more wiling to be creative than SL. When they beat Wisconsin earlier in the year I liked they were able to win a Wisconsin-style game. I don't think this is SL 2.0. Not disappointed in the least. But it goes without saying depends on his staff and who the QB is. We rave about McCasland but he didn't exactly blow the doors off at ASU.
