  1. Good to know Zac has rejoined the Mean Green squad! More experience in the secondary is good! GMG
  2. One player who filled a key role for UNT on its run to the Heart of Dallas Bowl is cornerback Zac Whitfield, who got some great news. Whitfield’s mom, Victoria, is now cancer free. read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2014/04/monday-afternoon-notes-unt-mentioned-in-attire-protests-story-good-news-on-whitfields-mom.html/
  3. Andrew Guillot pulled in 99 yards from passes from Ryan Higgins today. The next highest number of yards from Higgins' passes was Zac Whitfield, with 66. Haha our defensive back did more with their QB's passes than all but one of their receivers
  4. Over the years, there have been a series of key players who have either come pretty much out of nowhere or seen their roles expand unexpectedly and really help UNT. Jeremy Brown was a former walk-on, so was Ivan Delgado. Both ended up playing key roles for UNT. A few years ago, Casey Fitzgerald came out of nowhere to have a really good career at UNT. 5. UNT will host one of the top linebackers in the state this weekend in Sherman’s Kahlee Woods. The 6-foot-0, 235-pound honorable mention all-state selection has already visited New Mexico and Colorado State and will visit Texas Tech on Feb. 1. Woods plans to take all his visits and carefully consider his options before making a final decision, but enters his visit to UNT with a high opinion of the school and the direction of the program. “I like everything that is going on at North Texas,” Woods said. “It’s booming right now. I played in their new stadium and felt what the atmosphere is like. We won that game. Maybe it’s a sign.” Sherman played Rockwall Heath in the playoffs at Apogee Stadium last season, when Woods earned first-team all-district honors for the second straight year. The proximity of Sherman to UNT and Woods friendship with UNT cornerback Zac Whitfield could give UNT an edge when it comes to its efforts to land Woods. Whitfield and Woods worked out together over the holiday break and played together at Sherman.
