Since SMU has announced they want to join the Big 12 to replace A&M, it looks like UNT would jump all over that vacant positon as well. It looks to me that UNT has more to offer than SMU, stadium size, student body numbers and would offer the same TV market. -
There is also a nice new Hilton Hotel in Denton. Located off Wind River.

The newspaper said several no-nos in the Ga. Tech football program have lead to some penalties. Among them the forfiture of 3 games in 2009. What's so wierd is that they lost two of the three games. What ?

Why didn't Mitchell attend summer school and become eilgible this fall ? I am assuming he got several of the required 24 hrs. this spring.

The academic side of the football program was in a bad way when DD left. You have to give Dodge credit for leaving the program in much better shape in that area when he left.

It's not only the number of sports it is the number of scholarships. I think the D1 baseball is 9, but they may be broken up in 1/2 or whatever. In most cases only a pitcher or two would have a full ride.

Interesting note, Southern California is losing two football scholies because of NCAA rulings. Yet ,they now have 33 football commitments for next year. This could mean several kids will be looking for a place to go next fall.

They do dhave a couple of other teams in town , Trinty, which owns several nationial chammpionships and IWU which joined the LSC last year.

It's also possible that all ,or some,of the JC players who enrolled at semester were given ships that counted on the 2010 alotment.

According to JC recruiting, Treavor Burks a LB from Butte Comm. College has enrolled at UNT where he will walkon the football team.

I'm thinking Ga. State played this year and at the DI level. Heard their coach , Bill Curry, on the radio yesterday talking about their program. they now have over 31,000 students enrolled. -
Does anyone know what the additional lanes and service roads they are adding to I35E will do to the stadium and parking ? The widening will include all of I35E thru Denton until the point where the two I35's meet.

With the type of recruit JJ is getting , I don't think you want to advertise the fact that you are a Mid-Major school . i would think you would want to introduce yourself as a DI school with an outstanding program the past few years and including two NCAA tourney appearances.

Since UTSA just joined the WAC this winter,I can't see them jilting them for the MWC. UTEP ?, can't see them being a canidate since they left the WAC so they could play Texas schools.
