  1. Not sure how you came up with that. I did not say anywhere that he cheated on the field.
  2. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/462705-reggie-bush-heisman-former-usc-star-returns-trophy-for-ncaa-ineligibility Once investigations began, Bush immediately denied that he had taken wrong actions. Of course, fast forward a few years later to the present-day, and it's apparent that he had. Bush said he would like to work with the Heisman Trustees to establish an educational program which would assist student-athletes and their families to help avoid the mistakes that he made. So based on your information - Since he tried to avoid/escape/evade/eluded punishment - HE CHEATED So if you still think he did not cheat, I guess he didn't cheat - He "made mistakes"
  3. You don't think USC knew what was happening? As I said, some will justify breaking the rules/cheating when it's for something they agree with and then want to see those they dislike punished. PS - I believe SMU got what they deserved. At the time they were the worst of the worst of what was going on. During that time the Athletic parking lot at A&M had more new Tran-AMs than any car dealership had on their lots. A friend of mine who played there received 2 new cars during his time. As he said at the time "everyone does it". Still does not mean it wasn't cheating.
  4. OK, so now to some of you breaking the rules is not cheating? Guess you can justify what you want and fault those who do not agree with you.
  5. This is like saying SMU did not pay the players
  6. I guess the taking money and benefits. I guess the NCAA thought enough to put USC on probation and cut him off for 10 years and the Heisman Trust to pull his award.
  7. Former USC Trojans star Reggie Bush believes Heisman Trophy, college statistics should be restored https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/31745688/former-usc-trojans-star-reggie-bush-believes-heisman-trophy-college-statistics-restored Yep, he cheated and got caught but I guess it was not his fault. I guess next, SMU will appeal to have the Death Penalty wiped off the books.
  8. What could go wrong when they put the "Me" front and center 😈 I remember people saying how the portal was going to be the answer ........
  9. Combining this with the Pre-Portal recruiting spells trouble for G5 programs If the NCAA wants to stay around they might be wise to approach those 30-40 teams and try and for a Super League, but I do agree it is coming.
  10. It's happening all across college football. We either do it or get left behind.
  11. A lot of people will be surprised when some of the big $$$ goes to players from Women's Golf/Tennis/Volleyball
  12. You could say the same thing about the Cowboys, yet they are one the most valuable sports franchises in the World. I am no fan of the Horns, but they could bring a tremendous following.
  13. I guess the Food Network can start paying Bryce when he appears on his Mom's show? This could be a Gold mine for SMU as the boosters can now make their payments tax deductible
  14. It's a toss-up. I think Waco is easier to pair up with Austin for travel
  15. Prediction if this were to happen (surely to be wrong) Texas to the Pac 12 (possibly paired with Baylor) OU to Big 10+ (possibly paired with OSU)
  16. This opens the way for a group of schools to break away from the NCAA and form it's own Sports leagues. Will be interested in seeing if it's only for FB and BB.
  17. Can athletes enter into NIL agreements with boosters? The NCAA does not have any rules that restrict boosters from paying athletes as long as those payments are not directly for their athletic performance or an inducement for recruiting purposes. Some new state laws address booster involvement in different ways, and some might need further interpretation before it's clear how involved boosters can be in paying athletes in those states. BIGGEST F'ING JOKE IN THE WHOLE DEAL
  18. Give it less than a year before HS players sue for NIL rights
  19. Will be sad the first time a group of kids ask their favorite college teams players for autographs and are told they have to pay for them.
  20. Just someone wanting to relive the glory days of Texas football. Texas would not want to join the SEC because A&M is there and also they would not do well. Years back rumor has it that Texas and OU were very close to heading to the Pac-12. P.S. - The Longhorn Network would probably have to go or the deal restructured before another conference would take them.
  21. Right thing for the players and wrong thing for College Sports at the same time. If possible, the split between P5 and G5 (and even the lower P5s) will grow even wider. I believe this will add another piece to a selected group of P5 teams eventually splitting off to form their on organization. Also, here are 2 more predictions/questions - 1 - How long until the first player gets into problem with taxes and then sues the University for not "doing their job" and making sure he/she knew everything they needed to do? 2 - How long until the first Title 9 lawsuit when it ends up being P5 male players making the big bucks? Would rather see Football do like BB and have someone start paid leagues for those players who do not want to go to college. Disagree all you want but when this completely changes the landscape, and not for the good, lets discuss again (remember those who thought the transfer portal would be good - now there are wholescale movements and new levels of tampering).
  22. If the right player comes along there is always a spot available.
  23. Let the bidding officially begin. Like many things started with good intentions I am afraid this will open the door to buying players and players bidding out their services. This could greatly benefit a school like SMU.
