  1. I watched the game again on my DVR, and it appears SMU still had starters on the field when we scored TD's in the 3rd. But, I think many would agree that SMU had lost interest in running up the score by the time our offense starting being productive. The game was essentially over.
  2. No, I think winning the west would just reinforce the overall perception that C-USA is the worst conference in the FBS. And in my opinion, C-USA West is the worst of the two divisions, which makes it an even easier accomplishment. But, like you stated, it would take a miracle. Even so, should we happen to win the remaining games on our schedule and finish the regular season with an 10-1 record, I will still want Littrell gone. To keep him would be to accept an annual butt kicking from SMU for the remainder of this series. That just isn't okay with me.
  3. Students on campus have a larger voice than they realize. If a large group of them throw a fit and demand Smatresk do something, things are more likely to get done. If they make a public spectacle for the local news, than the odds go up. The average season ticket holder has a little voice too. No where near as much as the big money donors, but the athletic department needs the revenue from all of our fan base. There were few fans at the game by halftime. Everyone that cares about this program needs to continue going to the games and express your displeasure to our leadership when given the opportunity. Here is a thread you might like to read.... https://www.csnbbs.com/thread-907190.html
  4. And, Dykes has done it in less time, but some don't want that pointed out either.
  5. Of course Wren is better than Rick, but Wren now has bigger expectations to live up to also. Wren has talked people into sinking a ton more money into our athletics than Rick ever did. Now Wren has to grow revenue from our fan base, and results like these aren't going to help him do that. And, a fractured fan base that is tightening up their wallets isn't going to help Wren land a bigger AD position.
  6. You know the apologists around this program don't believe fans like you will actually walk away. You are a long time fan, and I hope you don't leave. We need you. I hope you consider staying and focusing your frustrations into pushing for a meaningful coaching change.
  7. I totally agree. And, I wish our leadership had half of their brains too. Sadly, for all our university has done to build our football program, we still have fans around here that will make excuses and continue to accept failure. Southern Miss got rid of their problem. I guess that is why they have a history of being a winning program, and we don't. Like USM, LA Tech practically uses food stamps to fund their athletics, but has owned Littrell over the last 4 seasons. LT will beat our brains in again this season too. After the loss Littrell will talk about needing to get another day better, how they will have to look at tape, and how great our culture is. Then the same apologists will be back on the board making the same excuses for his failure. * Ha! Some apologist gave this post an "eye roll".... I don't care about the rep, but I would love to know what part of the post merited the eye roll in your opinion? Do you really think Littrell has done a better job than LA Tech, or is more deserving of keeping his job than Hopson was? Really, I'd love to read your argument, but I bet you can't produce a convincing or logical defense. Sad. ***** Now up to 5 eye rolls but no counter arguments yet. Well, at least I'm getting a head count of those that are content with the current product. I really would love to read the logic behind continuing to settle for a North Texas program that only wins against bad teams. I guess we can ask Wren to only schedule programs with a history of finishing below .500.
  8. You are confusing two separate issues. Most on here knew we were probably going to lose last night. I was always the likely outcome. That isn't what people are losing their minds over. The fundamental issue is that after five seasons under Littrell, our team looked completely incompetent when the game was actually still a game. Sure we rang up 21 garbage points in the second half against SMU's backups and third stringers, but none of that matters when accessing where this program is and where it should be in year 5 under Littrell. If Dykes wanted to, he could have left his starters in much longer and beaten us much worse. I guess it is a good thing Littrell and Dykes are friends.
  9. Can Wren afford to let season ticket holders and walk up fans go? A choice will have to be made. I know for a fact, there are fans that have lost their faith in Littrell and will not be coming back until Littrell is gone and UNT proves they are serious about winning. Sure the Covid capacity restrictions will mask it for the rest of this season, but once things go back to normal, it will be very obvious that Littrell has lost a significant portion of this fan base, and the athletic department will have lost some revenue from ticket sales, merch sales, and donations.
  10. Well, are you happy with what you saw tonight?
  11. We need this guy running our defense again.
  12. He is even more like Jay Hopson. Just look at their numbers as C-USA head coaches. Of course Hopson is not at USM now.
  13. I like Littrell and I wanted him to be successful here at UNT. But, I love North Texas and our administration must always do what is in the best interest of our program. No coach, player, or administrator is bigger than the program, and everyone must be held accountable. June Jones didn't get to stay after getting bent over 43-6 in Denton back in 2014. If our administration is willing to accept total failure while SMU won't, than we will continue to get punked every time we take the field against SMU.
  14. In my opinion the only positive I saw in the entire game was probably my adopted player, Oscar Adaway III. That guy is the real deal. With almost no blocking he was dragging SMU players for extra yards on every play. When we get to conference play Adaway could dominate most of the C-USA level defenses. He really is the only story worth following this season. Unless Wren fires Littrell and we get to speculate about a new coaching hire. By the way, he seemed to hobble off the field after his last play of the game. Hope he is okay. Here are Adaway's numbers.... Adaway 20 carries for 104 yards for 5.2 yards per carry
  15. If our athletic department is willing to accept this level of incompetence, than we will not become anything more than we are now... a mid-level program in the worst conference in the FBS. Sadly, we didn't need to spend all we have on facilities and infrastructure to reach that level. Our lines are still trash. Bowen never should have been hired. And, Littrell still has to make excuses for the terrible play on the field.... I will donate the equivalent of my annual expense on Mean Green Fund donations and season tickets, if Wren pulls the trigger and fires Littrell now. I don't know if Littrell has lost his players, but he has lost me, and I would think most logical Mean Green fans. I have no faith in his ability to take this program where I believe we want it to go. Littrell is not a real head coach. He needs to go back to being an OC. Fire Littrell.
  16. Jay Hopson was removed after Week 1, and he had a better overall record at Southern Miss than Littrell has here. Just sayin'.
  17. In week two of the season, after a hard fought game against Baylor, the gritty North Texas Eagles traveled down to Dallas, and were obviously cheated out of a great victory. After 39 contests and 98 years the feud will continue this Saturday. (For those who may not know, we are the men with stripes) Go Mean Green!!!
  18. Interestingly, Hopson and Littrell are very similar in their overall success in C-USA. Both started in 2016. Hop has a 28-23 overall record with a 1-2 bowl record at USM. Littrell has an overall record of 28-25 with 3 bowl losses at North Texas. But, while Littrell is the highest paid coach in C-USA at $1.865 million, Hopson was the lowest at $500,000. That said, Littrell is 3-1 versus Hopson in the Eagle Rivalry.
  19. Nope. Just remember how great he played before leaving Dodge's program. Aside from Medoza's defense, those were some great games.
  20. No. I never wanted Bowen to be our DC. I think his defense looked terrible last night. We gave up over 400 yards passing, and more yards and points than any other team playing in Week 1. Bowen's defense didn't record a 3-and-out until the 3rd quarter. That is totally unacceptable.
  21. Yes and yes. I thought I made that clear. In the first half, I felt the o-line didn't open holes for our talented RBs. In the second half, the undermanned HBU defense was just too worn down. We won't have that advantage against FBS programs like SMU. Any Mean Green fan that doesn't have concerns is in for some disappointment this season. Just for reference... last year we opened the season by beating FCS program ACU 51-31. That is too similar to last night's 57-31 win, and we all know how 2019 played out. Obviously, we have different perspectives of how we view the current state of our offense. But, maybe we can agree on one thing.... If our o-line rolls through SMU's defense next week, I will be happy to revisit this thread and eat some crow. But, if SMU's defense dominates our o-line, will you be willing to do the same?
  22. Too much of our offensive production came in the second half, after the smaller and undermanned HBU defense had been worn out. North Texas only had 23 points at halftime. While our pass protection was descent, the run blocking was not good enough in the first half of the game, before the HBU defense became exhausted. The o-line has been our offense's achilles heel since Littrell got to North Texas. It needs to get fixed.
