  1. I would expect that given Dodges' emphasis on creating a family (on the team, staff, and among fans as well), that we will not see a public dressing down of any coach. That does not mean that this cannot or will not be resolved in a satisfactory manner. I just expect that any resolution will be done privately among those involved. A very unfortunate incident, but let's hope it is taken care of appropriately and is the last incident of its kind. Go Mean Green! Lee Hughes
  2. Hey - sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself when you and SUMG passed by our tailgate (I was with Ted87). I was busy cooking at the time. Ted told me afterwards who you were.
  3. Unless the child is very small (I believe less than 2) and can sit in your lap, they buy a seat. There are no "children's" prices since you just buy the seat at the seat price. Probably the cheapest way to go is to do the Family Fun pack or whatever it is called in Section H, which discounts the package some (don't know the prices). Otherwise, you just need to buy additional seats for the kids for the area you normally sit. Anybody else have additional information that I missed.
  4. I know many of you have the flag pole kits where you drive over the base to hold it in place with your tire. What is the best source/price for one of those? Also, what flag pole height have most of you found to be most effective (15', 20', shorter, longer....). I've had one of those on my wish list for a while, so just thought now would be a good time to start looking and maybe get to use it this season if I find a good one. Thanks/
  5. I hope there is more to this post and "construction" than you said. Where might bonfire be moved in the future? The lakeside location is currently about as remote as you can get anywhere on campus.
  6. Just got back from the pep rally (could only stay a little while with the kids). Very nice shot from Boomer to get things going at 7:30!
  7. There's always more than one side to everything. 7pm weeknight tips make it possible for my family to stay the whole game. With elementary age children, we aren't going to stay past 9pm on a school night (and most 7pm games are over around 9). The unfortunate side effect of (possibly) getting more people to (try ) to make it up on I-35 on those nights might be lower attendance from families who don't want to go if they can't stay for the whole game. Just another thought.
  8. I think the early- to mid-80's Talons fit the characterization of a somewhat exclusive group (I had a very good friend in Talons and attended some social events with the group, but still felt like an outsider). I never bothered to try pledging (and believe me, I was/am no slouch on UNT history) because it just seemed too clickish (is that a real word?). I think it had gotten down to a pretty small number during that period because of that attitude. Hopefully, that remains old history and the current Talons and their successors will continue to thrive.
  9. I've seen it mentioned several times in the press (sorry, can't remember a specific example for you to look up) where Riley has been quoted saying this is his intention. Until I see a direct quote from Riley Dodge saying otherwise, I don't see any reason to doubt his statements. Not sure why you are so doubtful about this.
  10. I just got a North Texas UA shirt a few weeks ago by ordering it through the UNT Athletics "shopping" link.
  11. Or, like one time at the end of halftime last year or the year before, when we were a little late in getting cleared off the field from the Jr. Mean Green spirit line. We arrived at the track in front of the cannon just as the kickoff happened and BOOM! I swear I just about jumped in 50 different directions at the same time and little kids were scattering all around us!
  12. Cool idea. We can vote for more than one, right, as long as we pay each time
  13. I really don't understand all these complaints. At my house, the announcers sounded amazingly like George and Hank. They were in fact some of the best announcers I've ever heard. They were so good, in fact, that they called the action 2-3 seconds BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENED. No complaints here.
  14. Ditto that. I thought he played strong the whole game, even more impressive (to me) given the shaky start. The biggest overall difference to me was this -- how many plays lost yards with Vizza at QB? Not many, and certainly not any like some of Meager's 10-20 yard backward scrambles. Vizza had a really good game for his first start. I think we'll continue to see great things in the future with him. I've been disappointed with aspects of Meager's play in the past, but I think it is also good to know that he's still there if Vizza has to come out. It's not like last season when we seemed to rotate futilely between QB's with no one really showing any success. Dodge has helped Meager to improve, and I'm sure the competition has helped Vizza as well.
  15. Way to sacrifice for the greater good !
  16. You can make donations directly through the Ticket Office. I've always done it that way (as well as the Jr. Mean Green Club sign up).
  17. That game is showing on the ESPN360 website.
  18. I thought that was the area it was planned for also, but I have lately heard that it will go in the land currently occupied by Kendall Hall (my old home away from home!). I've actually heard of offices that are being moved around on campus to make that possible, so I believe it to be more than a rumor.
  19. Until it reaches 1,000 FTE, the Dallas campus numbers are included in the total since it is a branch of the main campus, not a freestanding institution (like the Med School).
  20. I'm another of the "claw impaired" who cannot do it the way Rick does. However, I learned the version he mentions here back in 1983 and it works well for me.
  21. I agree that things will look up in the future. Despite the score, it never appeared to me that anyone on the North Texas sideline has given up. Even with the game out of hand, they continued to strive to make positive plays. Like everyone else, I was hoping for a much better outcome in Dodge's debut. However, I see hope for the future and will show up proudly in my Mean Green wear at SMU's Ford Stadium next weekend.
  22. I used to have DirectTV (just switched recently to FIOS). I believe FSNSW was a pretty high number, like 650 or something in that vicinity.
