  1. my point is that our team sucks on all fronts, and if you guys were consistent, you'd be calling for all the coaches' heads. i don't like that we're the worst team i've ever seen play, but if i call for Mendoza's head in his first season, i should be ready to call for everyone from Todge on down, because this team has been terrible all season. but our athletes, particularly on defense, are NOT up to snuff. sorry if that hurts people's feelings, but it's the sheer fact of the matter. with or without schemes we shouldn't be getting blown off the ball by FIU. with or without them, our DBs shouldn't be getting beat this badly. now, some of that can be attributed to attrition and change of coaching styles. a GOOD DEAL of it has been a coaching staff doing a terrible job. but the grim reality is that our D is about 1/3 of the problem with this football team right now. that's my point.
  2. And if we didn't get the ball on the 1 yard line to start the game, we'd have all of 13 points.
  3. I actually think it's harder now, because back then I was so happy we'd fought our way back into Div. 1-A, so I could excuse being a doormat in a crappy conference. Now, more than decade later... we're still a doormat.
  4. Well, I WAS worried about playing a winless team at home for their last game of the season. If we were a good team, I wouldn't worry about it so much. But THIS is terrible beyond words.
  5. Other than against Navy(one of the worst defenses in college football), I haven't been very impressed with our offense at all this year. And THIS game, our last of the season, our offense has taken HUGE steps backwards.
  6. Mendoza turns the ball over again.
  7. That one is on the staff for whoever's decision it was to audition a senior at PR the last game in a lost season.
  8. 21-12 FIU. We can't score on offense, and struggle moving the ball at all. We can't kick the ball, or cover anyone who returns kicks. We can't cover, tackle, or maintain position on defense. We can't get a positive play on offense without an accompanying penalty. We can't manage the clock, because our coaches have their thumbs up their collective *sses. We can't do pretty much anything against what apparently may not be the worst team in football, because that's a title we are fighting hard to keep for ourselves. You are lucky you haven't the means to witness the macabre spectacle we are putting on today. It is possibly the worst football to ever have been played.
  9. That was my fatal mistake. Instead of going incognito, I just became known as "the guy who hangs out with those seven Saddam Hussein lookalikes."
  10. Yeah, I didn't have any funny comments about them getting rings for winning 7 games. I was too busy pissing my pants from laughing so hard.
  11. Troy, I think they are the best Sun Belt representative this year, and would bring the most fans.
  12. Unfortunately, the reality is that you have to WIN FIRST to get the random fans that the big boys have. If you REALLY, REALLY thought anyone was gonna go to a game on Thanksgiving weekend to watch a 1-win team take on Western Kentucky, you need a reality check. Most of the influx of fans this year have been because we've got a new, popular head coach and a new, more exciting offense, but these aren't the type of fans who will make it out to such a game. If this team doesn't start winning, we'll be right back where we were before. The football team is a product. You won't get people to pay money for a bad product, unless it's been a good product for a long time before or there aren't other options.
  13. at least we won't have to worry about giving up our early lead.
  14. Well, the lab results were negative for the antibodies necessary to fight Monkeypox.
  15. The announcement will be that your lab results are negative.
  16. I believe he's saying that FIU is a guaranteed win for FAU, when they play on 11/24.
  17. Honestly, I haven't seen much of this from our boys this year.
  18. Exactly, I still think the best option is probably the first scenario. But it is easy for a team like USC or UT, where their depth all around is superb. While we're still working on building to that level, do you just find a way to get him in (I still think he redshirts, regardless) to the lineup? And before anyone goes into it, yes, I know it's way early and it's all speculative and WHO KNOWS what happens over the next 4 or 5 years, but it sure beats another "FIRE THE DC!" discussion, IMO.
  19. Yeah, it's going to be REAL interesting when Riley gets here, not because I believe there will be much of a controversy (Vizza has shown he can lead an offense), but because I do have to wonder what you then do with Riley. I still believe you redshirt him and have him backup until it's time for him to start his last two years. It's likely the best option. BUT, I've already seen that Dodge will try to get the best athletes on the field. So would you then try to find a place for Riley, given all the things he brings to the table? Now, the one place I've seen Riley mentioned most often as an alternative has been at WR, but the relative depth we have at that position and our strong recruiting in that area makes it hard for me to see that. But what about as a flex RB/QB? I would even mention that perhaps he could be converted to a DB of some kind, but I'd be really hesitant to move him off of offense, myself.
  20. agreed. just like 99% of the posters on this board couldn't tell you who has the record for most turnovers given up in a season.
  21. Agreed. While we've certainly laid some eggs, I've not looked into our upcoming games EXPECTING the team to lay an egg (which had been the case the last several years), despite the coaching transition and learning curve. We have seen some amazing football this year, especially compared to years past, where a lot of times the team just looked lost. Did we lose games we should've won? Yep. I'd actually have a hard time saying that about most games in the DD era.
  22. I agree. It's one thing to take what a defense gives you, but allowing them to dictate how you play and take you out of YOUR game before you even step out on the field is a mistake. I liked the adjustment to some degree and especially at the end of the game, because it showed our offensive playcalling HAS developed throughout the season, and it was apparent that Todge and company wanted to slow down the game some with us in the lead. Letting teams like Navy score quickly to end the half (TWO possessions in very little time) and continually backing out of FG range early on this year have hurt, and they wanted to avoid these scenarios. Unfortunately, though, you still have to try and knock your opponents out, and we ALL KNOW how our defense is. Oh, and if you're going to get conservative with your offense and take what they're giving you, then you need to have a few more traditional (read: NOT SHOTGUN) sets, especially when you're pounding the ball late in the game.
  23. Good punt, but Davenport gets a call for fair catch interference.
