  1. No, UNTX is not right. The UNT requirements are a MINIMUM requirement at certain % ranks whereas Tech's numbers are ASSURED. Big, big difference people. UNT has selective enrollment where 65% of applicants are admitted where Tech has like 92% admitted. The average SAT score of the UNT and Tech student are exactly the same. Tech admissions UNT admissions Tech does a great job considering where it is but we have caught up and will pass them.
  2. Winning is being a 7-5 team on the year. Losing is a 2-10 or 3-9 squad. Poor management of a program is what this was. There were a few options, like running our version of the wildcat to end the game. Not a great option, but an option. So you have a kid, who wants to be here, who's not an academic risk, who looks more like a Division I QB than I have ever seen suit up for the Mean Green, burn an entire year of eligibility, on one series, in a game we needed a miracle to win, when there was another option. Think of all the recruits we give scholarships to who never make it to campus, get homesick, get injured, don't have Division I talent, don't make their grades, don't really want to be here, get in trouble, etc. etc. That is my anger at "burning the redshirt". I am angry because I was thinking about the long term benefit of the Mean Green, not hoping for some miracle and have 3 wins on the year instead of 2. I just think it is a bad idea for ANY 2-9 team to burn any 'ship the last game of the year, much less this kids.
  3. I don't know about that. That's 2 quality programs lost and not just in football.
  4. Lots of starters back on both sides of the ball. The offense will be loaded and better with the new OC (I hope), the defense has been operating as a lower tier SBC squad and there is nothing yet that tells me they will be any better this year. We needs some guys on D to become difference makers. Our special teams is a big question mark. We have a punter with a big leg but we get punts blocked too often. We have a new freshman kicker so we'll have to see about him, we don't block to well for him either. Special teams has just been bad and it has cost us dearly. All of that being said, we will be better than last year but we need to be a ton better. We have alot of question marks heading into the season. No joke, we could be 7-5 or 2-10.

  8. I can list 4 games that hurt in 2009 alone. 1) Ohio - Well chronicled. I remember thinking many times they just needed to close them out but we never did. 2) ULL - Crazy in the turnover department, stupid penalty late on defense, and a Cajun TD late by a WR we wouldn't look at in the recruiting process (icing on the cake). I had lunch with that kid and his Father this summer - nice family. 3) Army - lost again late but what made this so painful was just how bad I thought the Army squad was. That was the worst team to grace Fouts since Samford. 4) ULM - This one hurt because ULM is a school we "should" ALWAYS beat. Their coach had a good gameplan for us they they soundly whipped us. It finally hit home with me just how far and how bad our program had fallen. They were just better than us.
  9. Clemson - Loss 63-27 Rice - Loss 35-34 Army - Win 31-13 (big time over-achieving really bad football team, they won't win 5 this year) FAU - Loss 24-20 (the curse continues) ULL - Win 34-17 Arky St. - Loss 27-21 FIU - Win 42-20 WKU - Win 63-62 Troy - Loss 34-21 (Troy wins the SBC again) MTSU - Win 24-23 (We're at our best against them when they're so sexy) ULM - Win 18-15 K. State - Loss 27-23 6 and 6.
  10. Rick, my thoughts are with you and your family during this tough time. Patrick

  12. Dickey Ball vs. Dodge Ball Do you remember how painful it was to watch some of those games? I have no doubt a winning squad would put create a significant increase in attendance. Watching Dodge Ball may be frustrating but at least it is exciting.
  13. I see "Check Facts" as one of those conspiracy theory people. Lot's of "facts" but the dots never get connected because he/she is presenting a few trees and never the forest. He/She was WAY off the mark on the stadium currently being constructed.
  14. We will open with Iowa State...maybe.
  15. I think he means the bar has been set pretty low which I agree. He was still an absolute stud at QB. He did what he was asked to do really, really well. If that is not what Rob meant, I would also like to know who he thought was better.
  16. Scott Hall is definately first ballot HOF worthy. He is by far the best QB I have seen in a Mean Green uniform since I started following the program in 1983. He was a GREAT player, great leader, great student, and great ambasador for UNT.
  17. http://www.sunbeltsports.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4100&ATCLID=1607437 The more I read this, the ONLY way it makes sense is if you determine a divisional winner first. If that is the case we are the #1 seed. Irregardless, the wording is vague. Is this only for seeding purposes or for determineing a conference champ? Haven't we had a multitude of conference co-champions in the past?
  18. Good Post. Many in DC are choosing to resign/not run again because the chances of an incumbent gaining re-election are pretty slim whether Democrat or Republican. If you were to trying to seek re-election it would be costly and bitter. Kind of like lose the battle but win the war. You will see many of these people again. There is pressure for them to step down from their own party if there is deemed a suitable/popular candidate from their own party to fill the void.
  19. If I produced evidence you wouldn't believe it so I won't bother. Why do you assume that in all of the studies that all of the scientist have conducted junk science? Why do you assume they conducted this research with a bias? Why do you think if contrarian evidence is produced that they turn a blind eye? As for me, I beleive more in the scientific community than I do you or the media. As for the Fouts Field example, hmmmm....seemed off base and overly simplistic...but I'll give it a try. If the two people that left were, let's say Todd Dodge and Gary Deloach, and they were nude, yes I would notice. That's my final answer; Global Warming is like a nude Todd Dodge and Gary Deloach that left the game while we were losing-quitters! I'm done. You can have the last word no matter how paranoid and conspiratorial. Don't disappoint!
  20. Nice find, you really dug deep on this one. You went far beyond reputable scientific journals and linked an article from a British daily tabloid. The whole idea of Global Warming was met with a great deal of scepticism as are ALL new ideas and theories in the scientific community. Only after a great deal of debate and research do these ideas and theories become accepted. There are flaws of course, mistakes will have been made and continue to be made, and research will be invalidated which is great. That is how the process works. At the end of the day, every national science academy that has issued a statement on the subject agree on 1) The climate has warmed in recent decades at a pace far greater than previous known global warmings and 2)That human activities have influenced this. No known scientific society rejects these findings. Again, nice find.
  21. Nevermind, I found it (September 18th) on the Army site. Why isn't it on ours?
  22. I tried to look on the official site for the game date. Is it official? If so, when is it?
