  1. I unfortuntately will not be in Florida.....but I WILL be at the home opener to witness us beat up on the University of Houston!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!
  2. What are our chances of actually landing one of these candidates??? I would love to see Mike Leach or Dennis Franchione. But I still am not sure no matter how much we want one of these guys that they will not become head coach here. Unless we put up significant money for their salary....that is just me but I hope that I am wrong and one of these guys come to coach us next year!!
  3. So was their gumbo!! Man...now I wanna go back to New Orleans! But no dinero!
  4. I suggest eating at Desire on Bourbon Street (great jambayala). Hand grenades and beignets are a must!! And take a Ghost Tour! Can be a little pricey but well worth the money!! During the day, the aquarium is great time (and great if you are taking kids!). Have a good time, stay out of trouble, and enjoy the great atmosphere and scenery. It is a fanatastic city and a great experience. Good luck MTSU! Beat USM!
  5. I want to add an honorable mention for TE....Jeff Muenchow!!
  6. I have to go with Booger!! I quote the person who came up with this phrase, but it sums up why I picked Brandon: "He's big, green, and nasty!!"
  7. It certainly feels like Christmas morning right now. I LOVED seeing Riley giving the claw at the end of the game. I think that it's finally the start of the something REALLY good at UNT. Players are believing in themselves, the school, the fans. It looks like they are really hungry for wins and to prove that UNT is for real. I think that this year is the year we turn it all around. I am loving this mood and hope that the players don't give up and continue to strive and fight for the wins. It won't be easy but I think that we can push together and have one of the best years since '04. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  8. Gosh! I am certainly thinking of you guys as you try to get through this illness. I hope everything is going better after the surgery Cheri!! About the job situation....that sucks plain and simple! My thoughts are with you guys as you battle this out and can get the outcome you guys deserve. You two are two of the most faithful Mean Green fans ever! And I am honored to have met you and become friends. Please keep us updated as to what happens and please reconsider coming out to the games. Game day would not be the same without you guys!! Hang in there and know that you have the love and support of everyone on this board! *Muah* Debbie
  9. Wow, maybe I live under a rock, but how do you not have money to have the band sit in the stands at home games??? Sure you can't sell those seats and get revenue, but it doesn't seem like FIU has an attendance crunch that would affect that. So how do you not have money for that? And, how do you not have money to have the cheerleaders stand on the sidelines and cheer?? Maybe I am naive, but this seems so ridiculous!
  10. Really...they can't afford to have them at their HOME games? I can understand not taking them to the away games and maybe prohibit the band from the extracurricular marching exhibitions, but they can't have them at the home games??? What a crock of bologna!!! If I were a student there, I would boycott!!
  11. Many prayers for the Hall family!! I am sure that everyone in the Mean Green Nation are thinking of everybody in the Hall Family in this time of sadness!
  12. I would take the 2002 defense. I loved watching Booger, the 3 linebackers were great and whew, the secondary was first rate! There were so many great players on that defense!! Man....I wish they were still playing!
  13. So he has gotten to his senior year of being a chemistry major and hasn't realized that if you mix certain chemicals together, they will cause a fire?? Hahaha. Oh, and I will take Zack Morris please for $100!!
  14. Anything but the draw! And I wouldn't mind seeing the flee flicker on occasion!
  15. You guys can't forget another reason to come to North Texas other than it just being a fanastic university: We have one AWESOME marching band!!!!!! (And no, I am not biased...ok so maybe slightly...but nonetheless still right about it!!)
  16. Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year! May 2009 be great, healthy, and prosperous! And may this be the year that UNT turns itself around! GO MEAN GREEN!!
  17. We also had a game the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 1999. I remember because it was my first season in the Green Brigade and I had to cut my Thanksgiving break short to attend the game with the band. I remember that it was not well attended. There was maybe 1K INCLUDING the band!
  18. Tech should be #1. Alabama plays the #15 team and needs overtime to beat them. Tech plays a higher ranked team in #9 Oklahoma State and smothers them in REGULATION and still is #2. I guess you get to be #1 if you are on the road because that is the only thing I can think of that would MAYBE sway the vote to Alabama because they were on the road and Tech was at home. But still you hang a 36 point victory on a top 10 team and you get edged out by a team that can barely beat a team ranked lower than OSU in overtime. I just don't get it.....
  19. I'm taking Tech. They have everything to play for and nothing to lose. Plus, they are at home. Tech wins it 34-28!! And, sorry CMJ I disagree with you on Tech having the worst fans to opposing fans. OU has them beat hands down. Tech was hospitable to the UNT band in '00!
  20. One note...the Green Brigade IS required for music education majors.
  21. You have to give a coach time to recruit, mold them, and then "purge" the team of any misdoings the previous coach may have committed. Take a look at Magino (sp??) at Kansas. He is in his 6th or 7th year as coach and his win/loss record is barely above .500. (It's like 42-36 or something similar) It took him several years to get to the success that KU enjoyed last year. And they are in the Big XII which recruits way better than any Sun Belt team. So you can't be down and out on Dodge so early. Yes, his win/loss record is miserable, but I think that we are headed in the right direction. We passed a STUDENT referendum to increase athletic fees. That would have NEVER happened 7 or 8 years ago. We can't change coaches and then go from mediocre to great overnight. It is not a light switch but a complex web of causes and effects that have to happen. We were down and out on Dickey in October of 2001 and he got us to 4 bowl games and 26 straight wins in conference. Don't give up hope now. Dodge and the team need our love and support right now, not a pity party to point out the obvious. I still believe in our team AND coach. And so should everyone else!!!!!!
  22. I would love to have Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, or Nebraska!
  23. I am willing to place money on the fact that the band was not told of the video. I know Mr. Williams would have told the drumline to put a sock in it when the video came on had he known about the video. So if there is anyone to blame for this, it is the athletic department for not communicating their plans to the unveiling of the video if this was the case. Besides, from what I have read (was not at the game), there was no special introduction to the video, so how was everyone to know when to watch the screen, including the band?????? My next question is, since this video is pretty important, why was there no special introduction to get everyone's attention? I know when I am at the games, I pretty much ignore the screen until the lineups are on and so do many others on the students side. So introductions to important things like the stadium video is vital!!! My point is: so unless you know the whole story (i.e. did the athletic dept communicate the video to the band director prior to the game or not) do not accuse anyone for doing or not doing something.
  24. Man, if they painted themselves for a game, they would be a Smurfs. Hahaha.....and they would all look like Gargamel too!!
