Good article. I didn't even know it was invented for Florida football players until about 10 years ago. Pretty amazing what it has turned into in the last 40+ years.

I get the feeling most people know who most other people are on the board Jesse. I moved from Texas near the infancy(November '01) of gomeangreen, before all the Bowl trips, etc. when people really established personal connections with each other. That said, I know a few folks - and met quite a few others when i was in town last.

Geez louise Plumm, I don't think you read a damn explanation of what any of us have said. All you see is that we say the WAC is not the way to go and you come back with "they have 2 schools in the top 25" & "the Sunbelt doesn't have a voting bloc to put our champ into the top 25". Both points which have been addressed. All you read is what you want to read. Yes, I admit - I don't want to see NT improve itself.

If we can each knock off some more OOC foes(like the Longhorns) and destroy the Belt(but split with each other) - I still only see 2 of us getting in the Dance. Whoever wins the West and WKU. Or the SBC tourney winner if it's not one of the above.

If that was the system, I'd be all for it. But everytime you hear about a playoff on TV they usually say a 4 team(occassionally 8 team) one which would be worse what we have now IMHO because not all conference champs would be included and would make the non power leagues more "out in the cold" than ever.

Belt seems really top heavy this year. UNT, WKU, USA, New Orleans, & UALR 19-5. Even with some wins like ours over Cameron - that's solid. But everyone else is just tanking. MTSU, ASU, ULM, ULL, FAU, FIU, Denver & Troy all suck right now.

How were are attendance figures in the Big West? Four of those schools were in the old BW and didn't draw well at all.

Perhaps Emmitt. But Virginia Tech is also an institution with military roots, that still has a huge ROTC type of atmosphere. Not sure what they call their "Corps of Cadets" - but you've seen their games - it's there. They have no issue getting "urban" kids.

Having seen them in person a few weeks back - I didn't find them any more talented to us. In fact, I think we beat them soundly "on the hoof".

Emmitt's been my best friend for a long time. Part of the reason School Spirit increased night and day when he was President was - it was our 1st Sunbelt title. Winning cures cancer as we all know. That said, he's one of the best fans we could ever hope to have. He goes over the top some, and I don't agree with him 100%(and it'd be easy to poke him in the ribs a bit about events HE can't or won't make with the same derision he shows) but I understand his frustration. I went to quite a few poorly attended football games when I was in school. Probably the best game I ever saw in Fouts(Utah State '97) had...maybe 4-5K. MAYBE. (Oddly enough that was also a Senior day game) It does come down to winning on a certain level. Crowds will be big in the beginning of the season - hope springs eternal. Some of the new Dodge luster will be gone, but the crowds will stay, or increase if we win. Another 2-3 victory season? You'll see a similar crowd next November.
