How on earth did this thread get to 55 posts in two days with nothing but a picture of a Philadelphia Eagle?!? How much further to first kickoff???

All they have to do is give the field a good two way sweep with the sweeper every Friday before home games, and the look will stick around. That's how most 'two tone' fields are done. Notice I said MOST. No need to post images of purple and grey turf fields (a la Central Arkansas, I think).

About a drivable par 4. Rick's calculations sound spot on. From viewing the webcam images and remembering my time on that sideline, I would quess that the wall separating the fans from the field at the new stadium would have been around lane 2 or 3 on the track. And, that wall curves in quicker because you do not have a 100 yard straightaway at the new facility. Tremendous improvement. The volume will be exponentially better!!

I can't believe I'm the first person to mention the Texas State University Armadillos helmet on the wall in the equipment room. Mixed in will all the rest. Greatness.

^^ underrated reply OK, I can't resist. I'm not a band guy, I'm an athletics guy. But I know how completely off the charts good our College of Music is. Yes, the best of our best are incredibly good. But my guess is that many of those best have no desire to be in the stands on Saturdays. If they did, they would be there. They are good enough to be able to make that choice. So be it. If they don't want to be there, I personally wouldn't want them there. As has been mentioned, the "B line" (if you want to call it that) will still beat the pants off every other A line that it will face on Saturdays, bar none. I would rather have that than some sort of negative attitude from guys (or gals) that didn't really want to be there.

I must say, for an alum who was on the sidelines at Fouts for four years but has not seen a home game in person in 19, these pics are REALLY starting to get me pumped up about the new digs! There may have to be a road trip in order this fall!!

I have it, if you count permanently and fondly etched in my brain. The best we've had since the worm, IMHO. But alas, we can't use it now because it contains a reference to that forbidden winged creature!! Egad!! *rollseyes*

Look, with VERY rare exceptions, uniform companies like UA and Nike have base uniform packages that they can tweak to the customer's liking. Pretty much the only exception to this rule is Nike's elite programs that get custom uni's that they break out for specific games. Really not much different than a throwback uni worn once a season or a pink uni worn to support breast cancer, etc. UA didn't custom design SLC or UNT's uni's from scratch, and Nike won't for us either. They were both chosen out of a catalog of base possibilities, and the school could chose what colors went where. That's it. I have neither the time nor interest level to dig up pictures of all the schools UA dressed last year, but I bet the seams, trim lines, etc. were all in the same place, or all fell in to a very small number of similar groups. Neither the manufacturer nor the school want to pay for truly unique designs unless (like Nike does) it's special enough to either increase sales or create free publicity. We would do neither. Not being negative, just realistic.

Uhh, news flash, we aren't going to be high enough on Nike's radar to warrant our own original uni's. I think last year they did unique duds for 10 schools. We aren't going to be one of the ten this year. Expect the Iowa State knockoffs. Or UF's on a Saturday when they aren't wearing their special uni's.

Nothing, unless the Big 12 NORTH champ (Mizzou) happened to win the championship game. As a UF grad, I'm just glad to see that no one here seems to think that the Gators don't control their own destiny. My father is a TTU grad, and is for all intents and purposes on his death bed in a nursing home. I'm rooting for the Red Raiders, but I will most likely bawl like a schoolgirl the whole way through the game!

I don't specifically recall that one, but there was another field goal attempt during that same time frame when we were kicking into the wind from fairly close. Keith Chapman kicked it fairly high, and the ball lost forward momentum quickly due to the wind. As it reached the goalposts, it was dropping more than flying, and I swear the headwind was so strong that the ball literally crossed through the uprights coming almost straight down and then was blown back before dropping below the crossbar. No good. Surreal.
