  1. Can someone give us a rundown of what to expect from Baine and what kind of experience he has? Was he projected as a QB and going to redshirt this year or was he recruited for a different position?

I would expect him to be more of a running QB using Riley's gameplan, rather than a pocket passer like Tune/Thompson.

  2. No Kirkman, Rapada, Lowe, Harrison or Davis on the ALDS roster.

Just 10 pitchers...2 bullpen lefties, one being Holland who has barely (if at all?) worked in relief this season...gotta disagree with that move.

I really thought Davis was going to be on, if for only his defense. The guy can't swing a bat well, but he's got defensive skills.

If we see a double down the 1st base line late in a game that causes the Rangers to lose a game, I would be very upset at this move. Let's just hope that doesn't happen.

No love for Kirkman? Maybe they were just scared that he had only been a major-leaguer for a few weeks and couldn't handle playoff pressure? I guess you could say the same for Rapada.

I wasn't expecting to See Lowe, and Harrison was a longshot with his confidence appearing to be shaken.

Today's game falls squarely on Lee's shoulders. I'd love to see 8 strong innings out of him today. Don't let this thing get to the bullpen today, unless it's Nefti. Take game one, and win this thing at home in game 4.

  3. I think this is an interesting topic, and I don't mean to derail it. But your probabilities add up to 150%.

What is this? Trigonometry or something? Go run your shady math on the Hobbit forum.

Back on topic: I think it depends on what happens with coach Dodge. Does he turn it around this year? Conventional wisdom says chances are slim to none. But, there's still a chance. So, I'll hope for that, and if it doesn't happen, I'll be glad to speculate on the other options.

  4. I think you need to be crediting UNTFlyer and the Student Government Councel for making the stadium vote and subsequent approval possible. The AD basically stayed out of it and allowed the students to make the decision. Without UNTFlyer and his like-minded friends in student government, that construction across the highway would not be happening right now.

Dodge had nothing, NOTHING, to do with it. That vote happened in the second of 2 completely non-competitive seasons of UNT football. Any shine on the Dodge hire had already worn off with the students. Thank God that somehow, someway, that stadium referendum passed.

Flyer, feel free to correct anything that I may have wrong here.

Most of the students on campus at the time (freshmen/sophomores) knew Todd Dodge as the coach of SLC which at some point spanked the crud out of their High School team in the not too distant past. To say the students were swayed 0% by the football team being lead by Dodge can't be true.

The vote probably would not have passed without guys like Flyer, but I'm pretty sure if Dickey were still the coach at the time this vote came through, it would have been much closer, if not failed. As a matter of fact, I was a student when there was a vote in the early 2000's for a new stadium, and it failed. You crusty GMG.com'ers probably remember that.

That's the power of High School football in Texas. The students simply did not know Dickey. While I was at school, I knew the guy as a reserved, almost standoffish coach. Dodge is outgoing and (at the time of the vote) upbeat.

    Of course hindsight is 20/20.

  5. I think he's making a joke about the windmill guys.

    Correct.

I did a poor job by neglecting part of the audience. Not everyone was able to enjoy the windmill boys banter.

In seriousness, I do believe the shoes should be looked at. However, I don't believe it's the cause. Isn't this injury usually caused by a foot getting stepped on? I'm not sure how Hamilton's injury occurred, but I'm pretty sure that was how JJ Johnson's happened.

  6. OKAY!! Just heard that James Hamilton's foot injury is indeed a Lisfranc ligament tear - NOW - I think there can be no further delay in getting an expert to look at the shoes!!! Is there any reason not to? PLEASE!

Newfan, are you with Nike or Adidas or something? Because we're really tired of people hawking stuff on here...

If not, then hopefully this has at least been looked at.

  7. oh here we go again with the cupboard was bare B***S***!!

Dodge has not gotten it done with his players now in their third season, so no one to blame but TD and himself if he get tossed to the unemployment line along with $150K in his pocket.

Well, you'd have to be crazy not to at least LOOK at the injuries...?

And again, I'll say it: No Excuses. This is simply the awful, awful hand Dodge has been dealt this year. Time to make lemonade out of the abundance of lemons, or pack up the office.
