  1. I guess what I'm asking is this, if dodge truly is just a good OC/QB coach away from the big turnaround as many assume then is it the HC who should be retained or the guy who props him up?

I suppose this will depend on many factors: Kicking game improvement? Riley's improvement? Coach Dodge's game management skills? etc...

If coach Dodge can effectively run the team, then of course you keep him around! You prefer to use the term "prop him up", but I would say Dodge is surrounding himself with good people.

If Dodge truly has a good football mind (and I believe he does), then it should manifest itself this year in the Win column provided the factors listed above come together. If he just doesn't have it, then that will manifest itself as well. This is rightly the make-or-break year for coach Dodge. I hope he succeeds because I like the guy. But I love my University and if he can't get it together this year, it's time to move on.

  2. This team seems to be enigmatic:

The UAB tourney saw us lose to Samford, only to pick up a nice win against UAB.

Then, we knock off USA, only to drop the next two horrifically.

I just wish we could see some consistency from the ladies...

Coach Stephens seemed like a great hire in the beginning. We should give her the same leeway we provided Todd Dodge to try and make it work!

  3. I was beginning to wonder if this was going to happen. This looks like a great hire! Though there have been some head-scratching moments, I like Dodge's offense overall... I think having Coach Canales on board, will help keep those head-scratching moments to a minimum.

Gotta love the guy's spread knowledge/experience.

And, being a receivers coach on the NFL level should help Coach George and the WRs.

Hopefully, Dodge will loosen the reigns on the offense and trust his hire to run it.

    Now, about the defense...

  4. "Riley Dodge opted to play for his dad at tiny North Texas"

Just goes to show what the rest of the nation (and even some folks in our own backyard) thinks of UNT. We're anything but "tiny". *OK, our football budget is apparently tiny* :P

    We're not Austin College though!

Until our athletics programs can play on the national stage, this will be the view of regular Joes everywhere. Sad, but true...

  5. What's with the undiscolsed opponent in 2008. I've read that a couple of times now. What is the reason for not disclosing who it is?

Isn't the K-State game a home and home series?

Also, I'm not terribly pleased with scheduling @ LSU 2 years in a row.

I'm not excited about this either, but hey, I'm sure App St. was not looking forward to playing Michigan. Give Dodge a little time to get his guys in here.
