  1. Honestly, what reason do fans have to come to the game this weekend other than just coming out of duty? I don't have the energy anymore to watch games end like this. It's still so bizarre to me how common these gut wrenching losses have become. At least two years ago when we'd lose it was so lopsided at halftime we could leave and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Here's one (the main reason I'll be there): PRIDE in your University!

  2. If this behavior is against the rules, and the refs dont' know the rules then why don't we have a rule book on the sidelines. Better yet, why didn't someone google it then show the rules to the refs.

If this is truly against the rules then this is yet another example of bad coaching. They should have the rules available and within reach on the sidelines.

    My brain hurts.

Now bad officiating is also the coaching staff's fault? Haven't we gone over the fact that Lance(especially), Riley, and other players were going ballistic on the refs over this (I didn't even think to look over at the sideline coaches during those penalties, so I don't know what they were doing)? Surely they were taught the rules by SOMEONE, or they wouldn't react like they did.

It doesn't matter if Tom Landry is on the sideline, if the referees are not demonstrating competence and ignoring player/coach pleas then those penalties will rack up, just as they did last night.

Good coaching would be for the staff to alert the conference officials that this was occurring and these officials be reprimanded by the SBC in some way.

  3. I hope all of you guys are right and I'm crazy! I'm just bringing up what I saw last night. That's all.

You can't tell me I didn't see it happen. Of course, I didn't keep my eyes on him all night, so I don't know what was going on afterwards. Maybe he just likes to be left alone? Maybe he was in a hurry to get to the phone so he could chat w/coach Canales about the drive, then afterwards hammed it up with the guys... I dunno.

I've been a Riley backer ever since he's been here. I keep bringing up the fact that his ability makes Lance better too. No doubt his play last night was fantastic.

And to be honest, another observation I had was an overthrown shot at the end zone from our 35 yard line in the 3rd quarter. Riley threw it out of Darius' reach. Maybe his arm isn't sapped after all? Maybe we can start going for more down-field shots with Riley?

  4. It's pretty embarrassing when your Athletic Director rushes to the field because of a blown call. It was a bad decision of the refs not to blow it down, but come on? Seriously RV? Was Deloss Dodds running out of the Cotton Bowl press boxes when some of those officials made bad calls in the UT/OU game?

On the flipside of this, does DeLoss Dodds ever walk around the parking lot several hours prior to the game greeting people at different tailgate areas?

Rick Villareal has demonstrated time and again that he has an intense passion for OUR University to succeed.

You wanted to go down there and chew out a referee too didn't you? It's because you're a fan. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a bigger UNT athletics fan than Rick Villareal.

  5. Starting WR is chased by a dog and jumps fence to avoid being bit and punctures chest on lawn furniture and is taken to hospital in Ambulance from Training Facility. Starting OL is bitten by a Brown Reclus Spider(Spelling?)and is taken to hospital because of swollen leg, Playing Status Unkown until kick off.

What? You must be a student. Who are these two players?

New Found Offense Wildcat Star #2 Josh Hamilton

WHOA! This is HUGE! When are we going to see this wildcat?

Although, I think Josh should probably not subject his ribs to the rigors of football, and just stay focused on getting healthy for the playoffs.

  6. When a single player has 2 personal fouls and the coach doesn't take the player out of the game, at least for one play, it sends a message to the rest of the team that this type of behavior is tolerated and excepted. A coach, especially the head coach, is the boss and leader of the team.

The personal fouls were bone-headed, but you simply cannot take Royce Hill out of the game. Even for one play, or whoever comes in for him (D'Leon McCord?) will get picked-on and burned until Royce returns.

Hill is our best cover man right now... he simply can't come out of the game. He can't make those mistakes either. He knows better, but it appears his emotions got the best of him a few times tonight. That can't happen anymore.

  7. Why in the hell don't we give away tickets or drastically drop the ticket prices to get buts in the seats? The cost would be made up in concession and parking costs.

We need to fill the new stadium next year NO MATTER WHAT.

I think the new stadium will fill itself for the first game or two. We could trot out 11 physics majors for the first game and the place will probably be sold out. The team needs to win, and people will show up. It's as simple as that.

  8. Is it me, or does Riley seem to be a loner on the sideline?

I'm not in the locker room, so I don't know if Riley is just not a locker-room favorite or if he just prefers to keep to himself, but after every TD (passing or rushing) he appeared to celebrate with 1 or 2 guys, then go to the sideline and be by himself. It just seems strange to me that when he gets to the sideline, he's not swarmed by teammates high-five'ing and such. Yet, he always goes over to whoever he hands off/passes to in order to congratulate them. Did anyone else notice that?

Not to get all conspiracy-theorist or anything, but I kinda wonder if the nepotism thought has crept into the locker-room, and Riley is not liked? Surely this is not the case right? Maybe I'm way off and you guys see something different?

  9. Undisciplined play. I keep coming back to 2 plays. Terrible penalty on the first LaLa drive when we had stopped them around their 25, only to get a late hit penalty. Walk off the damn field!! Terrible discipline by this team. The second play was on Lala's 1st possesion of the second half. Phillips has GOT to make that play (the interception that hit him square in the hands). It was like the QB threw the ball right to him. He makes that play and UNT is knocking on the door down one score. He didn't, Lala scored 2 plays later.

That's 14 points GIVEN to the other team. Plays that should have been made.

It was so apparent that UNT had so much more talent than Lala. Just makes me sick.

Lets not forget the high snap from our 3rd string center that lead directly to a TD. I doubt JJ makes that mistake.

  10. I think alot of you who are saying that you wouldn't mind the coaching staff going for the 2pt conversion, missing, and being ok with it are completely full of it.

To me, it was a no-brainer. You get your points and you take your chances in OT. I know the kicking game is atrocious, but he didn't miss the other 3 PAT's tonight...Why think he would miss that one? We had the momentum at the time, so you go into overtime and win it there.

Then, boom. Just a total kick in the nads.

THE TEAM (players & coaches) should shoulder this loss. There were plenty of mistakes to go around. You can't point the finger at any one person (coach or player).

  11. Would the Wings or another group be a better organization to handle UNT "traditions"? The ball is being fumbled too much by Talons in recent years.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Tasty CBL CMJ NT80 chimes in again with complete and fullproof ignorance.

I must also add, watching you get all pissed off in the forum is pretty hilarious AND totally made my day!!!

The Talons don't touch the football during the game. How can they fumble it?

  12. Before.

You move to Arkansas. You check in with the Arkansas State Board of Injecting You With 3 Strains of Hepatitis.

Then they go through the standard forms and requirements. This is where you have to either submit proof of cousin/farm animal intercourse or carry out an act of intercourse with cousin/farm animal in the presence of a state official and certified notary.

Then you go to freshman orientation and they chop off a toe.

There's other stuff in there, I'm sure the rest of the guys here can fill in the gaps. But that's the rough sequence for what we've already covered.

If it were me, and I had a bright basketball future... I'd stay the hell away from the state and the university of Arkansas.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! TastyGreek chimes in again with complete and fullproof ignorance.

Arkansas does not have notaries my friend, they notch your ear like they do on pigs:

It's painful, but it gets the job done.

You've pretty much covered the rest.

  13. A douche is a douche...and you'll be boarder-line by association...especially if you're trying to arrange watching for him.

Prepare to see this a few more times today as this is golden fodder.

  14. Did you know that the entire state of Arkansas has outlawed dancing? Seriously. No dancing allowed. Music in general is frowned upon and potentially a misdemeanor offense.

The whole state is like Footloose.

Other than their annual bacchanalian ritual sacrifice (they pick the newest 6'8" black guy that's come to town to chop up and feed to their hog mascot), it's like living among the Amish up there.

And they call The University of North Texas the "Cadillac" of basketball schools.

What's Arkansas? Well, it's like a 1994 Ford Mustang GT. It was really cool in 1994, but now? It's best served as one of the cars that Robosaurus destroys at the monster truck rally... an afterthought.
