  1. I know he's playing against some 3A competition, but there's no need for the "spotlight" on this guy during the highlights. You know exactly who you're looking for. He's huge compared to those other guys. Welcome aboard Sir Calvin!
  2. What about "Toys for Tots"? That's not necesarily a recruiting tool (unless we're starting to recruit little kids), would you call that waste? As far as recruiting, it could possibly be a recruiting tool as well. As we know, most of these guys will not be playing football professionally. So with their degrees, they could enlist,go to Officer Training, and become an officer in the Marines if they wanted to. Maybe in order to have this workout, the Marines provide a presentation post-practice?

  4. I think we're all just as curious as you are, but this is not sound logic. Not everyone who reads this board are MGC members either. Best of luck to Darius. Time to move on.
  5. Wonder if he'll be catching passes next season from another previous UNT player who now plays at a FCS school in Louisiana?
  6. Uh, I got nothin. Gonna have to pray that Bynes is healthy and ready to go & Stafford magically learned how to catch. If either of these guys (or maybe Olawale/some other WR) can step up, then they might be able to be a leader for us alongside Lance. Hopefully Thompson can prove himself ready to be a starting QB early.
  7. Do you just not like Brett Osborn? Or, did you just forget we brought him in? He's challenging for the starting job, and if he's not the starter will certainly be the backup.
  8. Ugh. This is a significant blow to our offense. Obviously, we don't know the circumstances, but whatever it was, I wish it didn't have to come down to dismissal.
  9. I agree with Harry on Defense. Orr stepped right in last year as a freshman and made things happen. He'll only get better, and I look forward to talking about him in the future like we talk about Spencer,Hurd,Kassell. On offense, the obvious choice is Dunbar, but I also look for Darius Carey to step into a leadership role as well and carry that role into 2012 after Lance is gone.
  10. Rivals profile ESPN profile I hate to be that guy that cites a facebook post, but he says he's on his way to UNT this year. If so, he'll be another great DB addition along with Swarn & Warner. I don't recall hearing about him signing, and looked through the archives, but did not find any threads on him. Maybe this is old news for some of y'all... if so, sorry for the duplicate post. This post has been promoted to an article

  12. Would it be advantageous for UNT to attempt to absorb TWU and/or Midwestern State into our system? I guess it would need to be approved by those two schools' BORs, as well as ours, but has this ever been brought up before? Hopefully y'all can enlighten me.
  13. I hope you're right. On paper, these guys look to be legit, but with higher expectations on the team come higher expectations on these coaches.
  14. This makes sense. Why have different names for mens & women's teams? "Mean Green" seems pretty ubiquitous to me. As long as Scrappy is around, we'll be represented by an eagle. Mean Green Eagles! There are a few things to piss, moan, & complain about with our traditions, but this should not be one.
  15. Skynard, man. Skynard. I'm certainly proud to be from the south, and very proud to be from Texas. I had several distant relatives fight/die for the Confederacy (Gen. A.S. Johnston @ Shiloh among others), and I'm proud of them too. All that said, I couldn't justify flying the rebel flag, or even having it on a license plate because of what it has come to mean today. Today, it's equated with white-supremecy, ignorance, and hate (and toothlessness).
  16. This can change if he has a great U-19 Championships tourney. Time will tell.
  17. Looks like a video game. He's heating up.. He's on FIRE! From downtown... Yes! Boom shakalaka! Intercepted! Jams it in!
  18. I had no idea Wilhite was rated so high! Rivals 3* and 76th ranked RB nationally? Well, all you folks out there clammoring for local talent to stay at home... here you go. DMac delivers.
  19. The answer is there if you connect the dots. What are all pirates looking for? Booty? No. That's what the government tells you they're looking for. Pirates are acutally looking to get off of their boats so they can buy storage shelters and stockpile them full of canned vegetables and bottled water to avoid the impending 2nd Great Depression. So, they look for trees and grass, which happen to be... that's right, green. Savvy?
  20. F/C huh? I will be interested to see how he'll slide over into the 5 spot. I wonder if JJ will play him at the 5 here too?
  21. Great for Tony! The U.S. should go very far in this thing and that will give Tony plenty of reps against some of the best competition out there. Glad he made it. He may have been rusty in December without this tournament to keep him sharp. Playing in the rec can only do so much for your game (virtually nothing for his game).
  22. ...which, in turn, would keep you more focused on the road as well. I totally agree with this sentiment.
  23. Yes, there will be a team store and it will be pretty nice. On the North side of the home concourse. I would assume it will be ready to go by the 1st game?
