  1. Because there's really not much else to talk about. Ebola conversation is the new weather. Dude A: "How ya doin?" Dude B: "Alright I guess, at least I don't have that Ebola." Dude A: "How 'bout that Ebola, huh?" Dude B: "It's crazy man." Dude A: "Yeah. Alright, have a good one." Dude B: "You too."
  2. Per Vito's blog entry when Brooks committed: "Brooks had offers from SMU, Oklahoma State and Arkansas." http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2011/01/tuesday-230-pm-recruiting-upat.html/
  3. Don't forget Class of 2011 commit Terrell Brooks (now at Baylor after a 1-game stint in Green, followed by a JUCO career @ Navarro), who had some big time offers. Problem is, not all of these commits are not sticking around. I'm worried that trend will continue. Just this past year, we lost 2 of the guys many of us were most-excited about in Adams & Davis (granted, we may have another shot at Davis).
  4. Y'all are both way off. TFLF is actually a deflated basketball speaking to a Native American mother.
  5. Is there any hype around this team that would necessitate a BallisLife vid? PS: I promise infinite +1s to whoever will put together a 2min highlight video of Benford on the sidelines with a bangin track.
  6. Fire McCarney? Bring Dickey back? What are you saying? Is it not a tough job? Dickey certainly was right (especially when he coached here).
  7. This is going to be the game to salvage the season. Win it, get some life back in the team, and play Rice next weekend for a shot at .500 in conference play (and .500 overall). Lose it, and the team likely deflates, possibly not winning another game all year. The games are getting more and more dire. Weight is piling on. Are the Mean Green up for this challenge? USM has won 2 against some horrible competition (similar to us), and lost big against the AP #1 & #7 teams. Otherwise, they're somewhat competitive in their losses (unlike us). They're moving the ball well. I think this is the watershed game for the Mean Green. MiniMac or DaJon, whoever it is, needs to command the team, and instill hope. I think Apogee will help here (at least I certainly hope so). This will be the Mean Green's first 'close' game of the year, and the resiliency of the HOD Bowl Champions comes though. North Texas - 30 Southern Miss - 24 GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. You may be right about McCarney, but I think Chico can coach QBs. His guy (Greer) was not a gamer though. Thus, the quandary we're in now. A lot of people were clamoring for DaJon (I was one). Glad we got him in. He's making a ton of mistakes though...to be expected from a RSF. Most agreed that if you put him in, you need to simplify the playbook for him and tailor it to his strengths. Were you not one of those?
  9. I don't think he's saying that. He's just saying that you cant put up all of these awesome facilities and say "Voila! Come bask in Mean Green Splendor all ye 5-star recruits!" It takes more work than that... especially after the debacle he was hired to clean up. He's steadily brought it back up, and last year had a VERY SURPRISING year (can we all agree on that?). Agreed. But if he airs out some frustrations, just like you and me, take them with a grain of salt.
  10. This. Vito refers to this interview as "candid". I would like to know what he said in that "candid" piece that is untrue or worthy of being lambasted. Is it untrue that North Texas has been a difficult place to recruit to? Does it not take time to turn that around? We're off to an abysmal start this season. But last year he won a friggin bowl game. C'mon folks, look past what-have-you-done-for-me-lately. I'm hoping this season is similar to TCU's 2013 season. A down year in between great years. I think McCarney deserves support from us. If you want to see someone who truly doesn't know how to build/coach a team, you needn't look further than directly across the highway, in the Super Pit. Or, if you're unlucky enough to have lived through it, recall the prior regime. If you cannot see the difference between the two, I don't know what to tell you.
  11. Denton State School VS Nicholls St. - even
  12. lots of stiff upper lips here. Of course anyone with a brain would take last year's iteration of Thompson over what we've seen from our QBs this season. Unfortunately, DT is graduated, and we're left with what we have. And it's not good enough. The game is completely different if DW doesn't turn the ball over directly for 21 points. Sadly, he's probably still the best option we have.
  13. I think it's either Chico will offer Riddle, or we're not taking another (including Chumley) QB this year.
  14. My extended family (my Sisters & I are 1st-gen collegians, our cousins didn't make it) purchased gobs of Aggie gear for my sister when she graduated from A&M-Commerce. She was like, "WTH am I gonna do with this? We're the Lions." So no, you're not alone...
  15. The Greenspace across the street from Clark Hall between avenue C & the Super Pit was once a motel. Then, the SigEps bought it and had the only on-campus fraternity house (to my knowledge) for a long time. It was there when I was at Clark in 2001.
  16. But there'd be a mass exodus of players from being repeatedly run over during the year.
  17. You don't thing Jub would do the same if that scenario played out in the game VS SMU?
