  1. Wow, what a change. The media is upset over not being able to cover a North Texas football practice? Amazing. It used to be that the media didn't care about North Texas football. Go Mean Green! Keith
  2. Not really a fan of the Exes logo (with or without the word Exes) - seems like I'm in the minority. Maybe if you remove the star. It has too much going on for my eyes. Keith
  3. Well, somebody decommited today... "Horns suffer a decommitment One of the Longhorns early commits has had a change of heart, and he informed the Texas coaches today. Get the full story inside." http://texas.rivals.com/default.asp Keith

  5. He's not on this list..... http://texas.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?spo...year=2008#page1 Keith
  6. There is some chatter on the Longhorn boards....who knows? Keith
  7. The family and I just got back from The Bahamas where we went for our spring break. My son wore his NT hat (a lot) and that usually spawned a conversation or two in the hotel elevator or just walking around...."Hey, are you from Denton?, What's going on a North Texas these days? My uncle/sister/brother/cousin, etc. goes to or went to North Texas"....that sort of thing. I also ran into a guy in the buffet line with a Florida Atlantic shirt on. Turned out his son played linebacker for them the last two years. He was upbeat on the program and felt that with the fertile recruiting ground in Texas and Florida that the Florida schools, North Texas and the Sun Belt in general would continue to improve. Nothing earth shattering there, but it was an interesting conversation while we waited for our omlettes. One day (again due to my son's hat) a girl stopped us and asked if we were Mean Green fans. Turns out her brother currently plays on the football team. We had a nice conversation with her. She reports that her brother is extremely excited about the new coaching staff and says everything is like night and day compared to the last two years. There you go, the Mean Green Bahamas report. Wear your NT gear, you never know who you may run into! Keith
  8. I believe the "Eppy" name came along later than the mid-70s. I think it was in the early 80s. I seem to recall the introduction of Eppy around that timeframe. Anyone else remember that? Keith
  9. I just met a former UNT Dancer all the way up here in Connecticut. They recently moved here from Corinth and her son is in the same class as my youngest daughter - she was excited to tell me there was a new kid from Texas in her class. Anyway, they came to my daughter's birthday party last weekend and we got talking. There are Mean Green are all over the place! I have another kinda funny story. My son is in the 7th grade and they have the Middle School divided into clusters and each cluster has a color designation. As luck would have it, his cluster is Green. They had some sort of spirit day a couple weeks ago and each cluster had to decorate in their color theme. My son provided a Mean Green door mat to adorn the entry way into his cluster and my trusty North Texas Battle Flag. For that day they were the "Mean Green" Cluster. Then they had a pep rally in the gymnasium and when they introduced the "Mean Green" cluster, they came charging out on to the basketball court with the NT Battle Flag leading the way. He said people were yelling, screaming and cheering wildly. They ended up winning the spirit day competition. Anyway, none of them really had a clue, but when I picture that scene I chuckle thinking, "For one brief, shining moment....." Well, you get the idea. It's cold up here, but it's all Green and it's all Good! Keith
  10. Leading the nation in rushing is an automatic qualifier.....YES. Keith
  11. I, for one, would not ask Woody to switch. I think he was the best QB we had on the field last year -- at least I feel he gave us the best chance to win games last year. It may have been nerve racking at times, but also exciting. Unfortunately DD felt otherwise and pulled him in so many directions that he probably didn't know which way was up. As a result that talent was wasted on the sidelines. Woody is one of those QBs you have to take the reigns off and let him do his thing. DD didn't know what to do with him. Keith
  12. It's kind of funny that when we were in the same conference with Boise State and Nevada people use to say the same thing that they now say about being in the Sun Belt Conference. Attendance sucks because no one knows who Boise State is and doesn't care. Now that BSU has built up their program everyone wants to be back in a conference with them. If we take care of our own house (seems like we have some momentum again), we should do just fine. Keith
  13. Little help.....(when you get some time). Thanks. Keith
  14. Not just news around the state, but around the country as well (if Connecticut and New York count). I've already received comments and/or been asked things along the lines of....."hey, big news out of Denton" and "how do you feel about bringing up a HS coach?" and "what's up at North Texas?" Definitely generating buzz. Keith
  15. I said they could sign a one-year deal for up to $500,000 without BOR approval. I get it. I'm saying the entire contact could be for one-year (or six months or nine months or whatever) and as long as the value of the entire contract does not exceed $500K they already have the necessary authority to execute. Keith
  16. Seems like it's the old "Congratulations, you are pre-approved up to $xxxx" type of arrangement which make is easier for RV and Dr. G. to maneuver. Makes a lot of sense to me. No telling what they are pre-approved for, but if sounds like they could have signed a one-year deal with a base salary up to $500,000 without seeking BOR approval. Keith
  17. Looks like the stadium is situated between two roads. Where have I heard that before? Keith
  18. Do not buy into this mid-major crap. It is nothing more than a long term effort to separate the haves from the have nots. Something about cooking a frog by starting out with cool water and heating it slowly comes to mind. If we accept this as our position then they will have won without a battle. Keith
  19. 1) It's not like the HC is a one-man recruiting machine. Everybody on the staff plays a role in recruiting. What sort of staff would he put together, how does he manage them, what role does he take putting together a game plan, how does he "coach" during a game? 2) Hopefully you bottom out above where you were the last time you bottomed out (growth and progress). 3 and 4) I guess that is what you find out. Does a coach show flexibility in adapting to the talent he has or does he stubbornly do the exact same thing over and over regardless of talent, match up or game situation? Part of this is a risk/reward scenario. I'm not saying that Dodge is a risky investment, but typically with higher risk, you expect the potential for a higher return. If you are risk adverse, buy a CD and be comfortable with what you get. Keith
  20. That actually makes a lot more sense than what we've been seeing from the coaching staff. Keith
  21. Aaahhhh.....OK.....Now I get it. Keith
  22. Sounds like he was as pissed as the rest of us. Unfortunate result, but I like the passion to win! Keith
  23. Great job Guys. Way to bounce back...on the road to boot. Keith
  24. Well, he has now....Just saw him out there on D. Keith
  25. Yeah, I probably should have been more specific....I meant I don't think he has played yet on defense. Keith
