I hope the title of this thread is tongue in cheek. NT has at least four times the alumni base, and 33,000 students, and we only outdrew a terrible SMU team (that beat NT) by 600 folks a game? If we are going to have an obssession on someone, how about TCU?

A FEW posters (mabey kids) on ponyfans mention the remote possibility of Todd, and you guy's are acting as if SMU is making an offer!

DMN reported SMU offered PJ more than 2 million dollars, that is unbelievable! GT got Johnson for slightly less, I guess the allure of playing for an established BCS school beat SMU out. But you have to give SMU and Steve Orsini credit, they took it to the wire with GT; and are sending signals they are ready to play hardball again. I followed the link and read the pony message board, and it really just looks like a handfull of their posters, would be in favor of interviewing Todd. Don't start blowing this out of proportions.

Again, it sounds like excuses to me. NT has at least FOUR times more alums than SMU.

NT has four times the alumni base that SMU has, if everyone would (pony up), we should be able to make up the difference of one alumnus as you say. I would venture to say, it's not just ONE alumnus, in SMU's case. Instead of taking out our frustrations for OUR shortcomings on SMU, we should focus on taking care of our business.....and the rest will take care of itself.

"We have more fan support but they have a lot more money. Our strengths are there weaknesses and vice versa. That’s why a rivalry (apart from geography) makes so much sense." Not doubting that we have more fan support, but if that is true, how could we NOT have more money? That just doesn't make sense. please explain.

WOW! Johnson is a great coach, just look at what he has had to work with at Navy. SMU just made a great hire. I'm telling you guy's, that Steve Orsini is not fooling around.

Memphis had over 20,000, I don't know what they average, but they had alot more than we did.

NT alums, with a DFW base of 100,000, and student enrollment of 30,000, should be ashamed!!! I looked around at the end of the first half, and there couldn't have been 1,000 people in the stands. I wonder what recruits might be thinking?

TCU? are you kidding me? NT or SMU would love to be like them! What is it, something like 7 bowls out of the last 8 years, with several top 25 rankings. Wake up junior.

Anyone that thinks that SMU isn't about to load their wagons, and do what needs to be done to get rolling again, is fooling themselves. Without green tinted glasses, look at what their resources are, not to mention their football history. We tend to rationalize they won big in the 80's ONLY because they cheated, if you don't realize that almost EVERY team in the SWC was put on probation in the 80's, you must be a naive, or too young to remember......that's the way it was done then. With that said, I still hope we keep playing SMU, it seems to mean alot to our fans, and it's good to get excited, whatever the reason may be.

Oops, I forgot Glen Mason also said he was interested. It's starting to look like our friends in Dallas, are finally getting serious again. It would be great to have three really good teams in the metroplex, I still have faith in Todd.

I am a little surprised by some of the big names that are interested in the SMU job. Rick Neuheisel, Terry Bowden, and now Gary Barnett? Todd better get busy on his recruiting. I think SMU's new AD Steve Orsini is a bigtime guy, and with all of the things he has already done at SMU, it sure looks like this guy means business.

Good grief. Considering how bad SMU is, and who there ONLY victory came against, we look pretty moronic talking about SMU. Some of you people need to get some mental help, dealing with this SMU phobia.

I was watching CSTV this morning, and I came by the Phil Bennett show. I have never seen a school show so many highlights of their opponent! (I wouldn't) The show repeats at noon today on ch. 21. I hate to start the zillionth thread on the Methodist, but this is of NT interest.

16,000..... SMU fans don't seem to care, or have moved on to other things in life. North Texas 27 SMU-24 OK guys, after reading all of the post for quite some time now, you seem very confident! Don't let me down!

Some of you guys might consider counseling. I read the story before before I read the post, how can you insult the writer? Not to mention more insults towards SMU? I thought the story was very fair, if not complimentary of NT. I have not seen any of our writers do something as fair as this story toward SMU. I am trying to get on the NT bandwagon, but some of you guys have me shaking my head. Oh, did you see the story in the Dallas paper today, where our own athletic director said it was NOT REALITY that SMU kept us out of CUSA.

After ASU performance last Saturday, I was interested in reading some of their fan comments. Can anyone provide a link please? I am a longtime SLC fan, so since Todd has moved to Denton, I have been reading the Mean Green site often! I have to admit, to being very puzzled about the large number of negative post about SMU over the last several months. I have followed the links provided to the the Pony message site, and they don't seem to share in the animosity. I guess an older gent like myself, subcribes to more game and player talk, and less bashing. I will still pull for North Texas because of Todd, but I have to confess, all of the negative focus toward one school is a turnoff for me. I guess it's just a different age now. Thanks in advance, and good luck this season, not just against SMU.

I didn't get to watch SMU and Tech, but after reading Emmitts report it sounds like NT should win this one! Emmitt are you a coach? You seem to have a mass of information on SMU?

Bob Stoops is a class act, OU could have easily scored over 100 points. This had to be very tough on Todd.
